I just recently found out I was pregnant. I’m struggling with morning sickness a little. I have a six-year-old, a two-year-old, and a husband to feed. Any thoughts and suggestions on foods to make when you’re not feeling great and don’t want to eat? P.S. my husband is a farmer and works long hard hours and doesn’t get home until 8:00 pm most nights, so him making dinner is out of the question.
Get some anti-nausea meds from your doctor.
I had really bad morning sickness the only thing I could keep down was soda crackers! Get the low salt variety! Or sip on warm Pepsi! Has to be warm or room temperature! Good luck this will end!
Ginger biscuits might help.
I use my crackpot alot! If you have your meat cooked its always easy to do sides or salad. As far as your morning sickness I myself used Ritz crackers and sips of 7 up
I had it awful when I was pregnant , I found personally that saltines and ginger ale helped me .
Ginger candy, ginger tea, starlight mints, peppermint and ginger essential oils (smell), sea bands, white carbs (crackers, rice, bread, pasta).
Try to find a time when you don’t feel sick , put stuff into a crockpot for supper that evening or next evening.
If you husband is off one day , maybe you can prepare several dishes and refrigerate til needed.
Try to cook hamburger meat for several dishes at one time. I find if I use garlic powder while cooking the meat , it doesn’t cause the meat to give off a sickening smell that upsets my stomach.
Ginger biscuits worked for me
Ginger Ale is your best friend.
Pass it to your husband
Ginger tea and saltines b4 your feet hit the floor. I would leave them near my bed each night
Ginger root helps with nausea.
My trick was to eat a few saltines before I ever sat up in the bed when first waking up. It really helped!
Dried ginger. Saltines. Ginger ale.
Oh I remember those days…had a rancher husband that worked 18 hour days and I had horrible “all day sickness.” Soda crackers and sipping on room temperature Coca Cola worked for me. Hope it gets better😊
I was told by my dr something salty or sour or both I stayed sick the whole time I was pregnant
Sniff newspaper. Use a crockpot if you have one, less work. I was sick morning noon and night. Required IV each pregnancy (3) for hydration. I feel for you!!
Go with crock pot meals for everyone and just eat what you can. Try things you didn’t normally like before. My third pregnancy I could eat something one time and the next time I tried I puked.
I had horrible morning sickness with all my babies.
Chocolate will take the acidity down. Salt will be very acidic coming up. Same with any citrus fruit. Drink lots of water with meals so your body has something to push out.
My girlfriend is pregnant… the prenatal pills had too much iron. She switched to non iron prenatal and he sickness is gone
The smell of something fresh calming always helped me
Try some fresh ginger. You can get it plain or with a small amount of sugar sprinkled on it. Avoid greasy foods and some cheeses
Ginger, lemonade or you could try the acupressure travel bands
Ginger ale actually helped me better than anything. Real lemon water helped a little
When I had morning sickness I used to just take fresh juice and noodles… Couldn’t eat anything else
Ask ur doctor for some meds for it. It was the only thing that helped me
I was lucky. Both my kids are grown now but I didn’t have morning sickness with either one.
Make a bunch of soups, then freeze. The crock pot is your friend. A tall bar seat can also help so you don’t have to stand the whole time to watch or stir food
Do crock pot meals for him and you and the kids. Do casseroles ale a big meat loaf and he can have sandwiches or reheat it. Boil potatoes and slice some into American fries, some mashed and some made into tater salad. Veggies ie. Fresh buttered carrots, beets, green beans, squash. Get some boxes of dressing like chicken flavor and you can prepare it in minutes or before hand and reheat in microwave. Eat some soda crackers you will feel better. Boiler up a couple dozen eggs too. Egg salad sandwiches and eggs for a snack. Peanut butter on fresh celery too.
Crock pot meals, and things that are super easy and quick to make. Pigs in a blanket, you can smother them in chili and cheese so its more filling for you and your husband too.
I had severe nausea and smelling lemons helped
Ginger, dill, and peppermint are all natural antinauseants
make lots of stuff can freeze stews lasagnes so when are feeling crappy can just heat up xx
Saltine crackers are amazing!!!
I did a TON of crockpot freezer meals. There are tons of lists on pinterest. It took be about half a day to make 35 meals. Then just that, dump, and set the timer.
Small frequent meals with protein helped so did Gatorade. Eating before leaving bed in the morning could make or break my day.
Definitely not something with marinara sauce.
Invest in the hard peppermint candies. They were a life saver for me during both my pregnancies. Helps get rid of the nausea.
Freeze yogurt or have lots of " frozen" treats on hand. I found them or popsicles easy for quick aid to queeziness
Ginger biscuits or peppermint tea and also try the travel sickness bands for your wrists
With my morning sickness I ate plain waffles, plain pasta noodles, saltines, and ginger drops. With this you can make meals just set aside plain food for yourself. I hope it passes. Soon for you.
All I ate was peanut butter sandwiches
I always had to eat a few crackers and drink a spot of water before I could even move out of bed, I also could never let my stomach get completely empty otherwise I would get sick again. My favorite snack that I could always tolerate was grapes
Saltine crackers and ginger al and emetrol nausea med was my best friend for 2 weeks
This is an old remedy. Sit in a tub of warm water ,and eat your food there. I am 88 and had to do that with my pregnancy’s and it works
A lot of drs recommend lemonade, with ice.
My doctor told me to keep something right by the bedside and to eat a little before I got up and started moving .
They sell them at walmart
I ate green apple jolly ranchers they helped sooooo much.
The only thing I could eat my first few months of pregnancy was apples and popsicles! Put you can always ask your doctor for nausea medicine
Preggie pops helped me a lot!
What do mean it’s out of the question? I make dinner for me and our 3 kids and if my husband is late I just save him a plate in the microwave.
I’ve made boxed Mac n cheese before, I just put it in a casserole dish and added ham, peas and torn bread on top, it was a hit. I only make it when we’re low on funds but it works.
If I can I’ll wake up early and make him a quick breakfast sandwich and a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch.
Granted my man could eat a block of cheese and be happy lol.
Small snacks every few hours avoid big meals, acidic food, strong smelling food… crackers and bread were my go to
I just ate lots of ceral lol
I am suffering with morning sickness alot and altho unhealthy food seems to help ice coffe and caps work well too
Honestly I always ate ginger gummies with my oldest because I don’t like the taste of ginger. With my second I tried my best to eat bland things like eggs or toast in the morning.
I always just make whatever sounds best to the kids and I snack on crackers or dry cereal
One pot meals that you can use the leftovers, pot roast, pasta chicken and dumplings
I had to sip on pickle juice to settle my stomach and was able to eat anything without being sick.
Take some crystallized ginger
My doctor told me ginger tea or water, lemon water, peppermint water or to suck on peppermints. I can tell you from having morning sickness from day 1 all the way to 38 weeks I drank lemon water all the time. And I had tums with me everywhere I went. I ate saltines before bed every night and it seemed to help when I would sleep or try to sleep. Around 20 weeks they finally proscribed me medication but it made me sleepy and I after 2 weeks of sleeping 90% of my day away I gave up on it and just sucked it up. Peanut butter and toast was good to eat for me. Sometimes I could stomach bananas and honey on it as well. Or even by itself. I just found safe foods and just ate them.
Have saltine crackers by your bed and eat a few before you get up
Try to keep your stomach full all day long. Drinking sprite helped me.
Just a suggestion use crockpot meals.
My doctor told me Benadryl was safe to take for morning sickness on those bad days, I’d check with your doctor but it definitely helped
Applesauce and pretzels
I literally snacked all day on bits of broken up dry cream crackers to keep the Ricky feeling away
I find dry foods the best for morning sickness , when I wake in the morning I snack on plain digestives, dinner wise dishes with rice and potatoes , use very light sauces I found sauces in dinners made me throw up. Pasta dishes went down well for me. Snacks like yoghurt, beans and toast. Strangely snacking on bananas was satisfying. I’m currently expecting and all of these have really helped me. Dry crackers with butter or cheese also very satisfying. Keep hydrated as much as you can. High fibre foods are important and high protein foods. Roast dinners and cereal
I couldn’t stomach anything my pregnancy I had to be on diclectin and odeszatran just to be able to eat anything. Try chicken and lots of ginger foods. I lived to just throw stuff into the Crock-Pot for my kids
All raw meat was a big trigger for me. Otherwise Diclegis helped me be able to eat and hydrate enough.
I’ve been on Zofran since week 6 of my pregnancy because I suffer from HG. So even keeping liquids down has been a struggle. But being in the third trimester my vomiting and nausea has subsided juuuust enough to eat here and there
AND LET ME TELL YOU
Potatoes in all forms were a life saver
Crockpots are life savers…you can throw just about anything in there in just a few minutes and dinner is done
Regular fritos and ginger tea
Apple sauce!
They come in squeeze packets now so they’re really convenient.
Also, helps with constipation.
2 birds one stone!
Then b12 and water.
Then you should be good to have breakfast with your family.
You can try yogurt too.
Seemed to work for me, hope it works for you too!
I know it sounds a little crazy especially for breakfast but when I had morning sickness I used to eat rice with okra in it it was so good an kept my stomach from acting up I’d boil the okra in a little water then put in some quick rice you barely need to season it I did a little butter a little salt and pepper and that was its like making your own stickie rice so good anytime of the day
Peppermint candies and saltiness crackers and water. Crockpot meals or instapot meals, or prepping and freezing casseroles to pop in the oven were a life saver that first trimester.
Saltines and unbuttered popcorn worked great for me
Crackers or dry toast
I swear by dry toast it’s gross but worked for me x
I had to eat something all the time. In the beginning I had to at least take a bite ever 30 minutes to an hour. Even if i wasn’t hungry I still had to so I my sickness would subside. For feeding the family I recommend pastas. Like spaghetti or chicken Alfredo. Stuff that would be fastish. I also recommend pulled BBQ chicken. Throw those chicken breast in a crockpot. Let them cook and about 20 minutes before you want to eat… pull them out, put in a bowl, use a mixer to shread them faster, then put back in crockpot with BBQ and let it warm back up. Serve on buns with chips or fries.
All I could seem to keep down from weeks 7-19 was watermelon, cucumbers, yogurt and grilled chicken with JUST salt and pepper.
I ate saltine crackers don’t know if that will help you
Carbs it absorbs the acid.bread, potatoes, crackers…
ginger, ginger ale, peppermint tea, oyster crackers, ask your doctor for some medication to stop it, get all unscented things and add scents as you go along, even your laundry detergent and soap, smell your shampoo and conditioner, smell everything to make sure that isn’t making you sick too, smells would set me off
Yeah, let your husband handle the kids and meals. He’s a big boy. I did it for our home. If my wife worked late I cook dinner for all of us not just me and the kids. Time for him to man up. And yes I to did farming.
Just eat what u can if u cab stomach it eat it I found cheese n crackers fruit raw veggies cottage cheese yogurt as long as it was light no greasy but in the morning? Saltine crackers 7up ginger ale and dont get up.too quickly lie there.for a few minutes before getting out of bed
Saltines, canada dry Ginger ale, jello, baked potato
Vitamin b6 worked for me
Sugar in the morning! A piece of candy usually helps then as you get hungry eat healthier foods such as cheese, fruit, veggies, crackers.
Just eat what u can but i had sickness all the time so i used to go to the maternity store at the mall i think it was maternity destination they sold hard candy that r for nausea let me tell u they worked and i could take it anytime. But just an idea
Take B6 eat a banana or something and talk to your doctor.
Also peppermint Lifesavers or gum, I swear I ate like 8 bags of pretzels through those few weeks lol
Frozen grapes work too they release something that assists with curbing nausea
Bananas and/or yoghurts helped me. Small quantities. Casseroles and stews for husband and the kids. Things that are quick to throw together. Remember the sickness doesnt last forever (just feels like it!) Xx
It’s not healthy, but when I was pregnant and couldn’t eat or even drink coffee, the one thing I could eat was ramen. If you don’t want to feed your kids ramen, then maybe make two separate meals for now.
