What can I take for restless leg syndrome?

Hey mamas, im 34 weeks with my second and the restless leg syndrome is killing me. Im lucky to get an hour of sleep between my legs and sick toddler. Any remedies or recommendations or things to try. Ive been taking celtic salt which is high in magnesium. I prefer natural but ill try anything to get some sleep

I took a magnesium and Tylenol before bed! Made a huge difference! The maternity nurses helped me with this when I was on hospital bed rest! Has to be an hour before you lay down :slightly_smiling_face:

Magnesium supplement or potassium supplement

Definitely icy hot or biofreeze

Magnesium is absorbed best through the skin, try a Magnesium oil rubbed into legs and feet about 1/2 hour before bed

See your obgyn first, then go from there

Good luck mama I’ve had it with every one of my pregnancies… This is my last one I’m 34 weeks to… They always just tell me its the way the baby is positioned I have found nothing to help.besides getting up and walking around for a while :frowning:

Glass of milk and a banana

Honestly, an epsom salt bath before bed and then I wouldnt get any. If i skipped the bath, id wake up in shooting pain.

Nature Made vitamins. The vitamin has magnesium, calcium, and zinc. It is a life saver for my RLS.

I used magnesium lotion and a heating pad after a super hot shower

I have RLS. I’ve had it as long as I can remember and it definitely was worse during pregnancy.
Magnesium helps (ask your doctor if it’s ok).
Leg rubs before bed from hubby.
My doctor recommended tonic water before bed… I still don’t know how well this works.
Also, an old wives tale is to put a bar of white soap in your sheets… apparently this works for some but didn’t for me lol
Hang in there!

Keep a couple of bananas by your bed to have in middle of the night these really help me.

See a reflexologist. Magnesium rub, but check with your doctor first.

This works better than anything I’ve tried and it’s not sticky or anything

I use deep freeze gel and painkillers

Put a bar of soap under your fitted sheet at the foot of your bad. The magnesium in the soap helps with RLS.

Mustard by spoonfuls. Chase with water

Try Bananas or you might try a salt substitute that is potassium chloride you don’t have to use much just about 1/8 tsp or add a little to salads or meat. Discuss with your doctor.

Try wearing knee high flight socks, get them small size so they will support your legs and keep fluid from building up in them, worked for me.

I recently just dealt with that. Finally went to Dr’s cause I tried absolutely everything…now on gabapentin and sleeping pill…but obviously you can’t do this…I’ve been really stressed out and he thinks that’s what brought it on. Worst feeling ever when your so tired and your legs want to RUN…

This sounds weird but a unwrapped bar of soap under your sheets works good. I used to work at a hospital and all of my patients swore by it.

Possibly low on potassium or sodium. Gatorade( electrolytes )or drink dill pickle juice. Liquid IV. Give it a try. Seen it work many times.

Magnesium ointment in the soft tissue areas. But please speak to your OBGYN before trying anything you see here.

Try no caffeine (even what’s in chocolate.) Also avoid anything that has benadryl or an antihistamine in it. (Tylenol PM, anti-itch creams, dramimine) Good luck! RLS is horrible!

My son has restless syndrome and the doctor ordered blood work to test his iron levels
They were really low so they suggested an over the counter supplement of iron and vitamin c, so maybe if you’re pregnant check with your doctor and make sure they know before you take anything.

I take magnesium every day. Tramadol calms it but you’re pregnant so…

I do the foot massage bath! It wakes up the nerves and muscles.

I had to do iron infusions with two of my pregnancies, it helped me with my RLS.

Tonic water, diet isn’t as nasty as regular. But it works. I also take meds and staying hydrated and also iron helps

Whatever your doctor says

Rubbing alcohol on your legs
