What causes hip pain in pregnancy?

So I have had hip pain for a few months now. Like inside my joint. Left side. It’s gotten worse and worse. I’m basically limping everywhere now. I messaged my doctor about it finally today, and she wants to see me tomorrow. I guess I’m wondering if any of you ladies had hip issues, and did it affect your labor? Anything related to that? I’m 25 weeks along also.

My doctor told me it was part of round ligament pain. Your body is also stretching so lots of parts of your body you never knew could hurt, hurt. :persevere:

Just your ligaments stretching to get ready for birth.

I have had so much pain my hips and I’m only 10 weeks. My first pregnancy was rough on my joints too. Foam roller works wonders. Roll out those t-bands.

Knee pillow to sleep with, helped me so much!

Could be that your hip is out of place. Mine pop in and out all the time. Now that I’m 35 1/2 weeks my little guy is big enough that hes not allowing them to pop back in.

Yes I had such horrible hip/pelvic and sciatic pain that both of my pregnancies were terrible and I didn’t enjoy them at all. I probably had some symphysis pubis dysfunction that was not diagnosed but at the time I figured it was yet another symptom of pregnancy that I had to endure lol. Prenatal yoga and chiropractor helped some. I also got some relief from one of those belly support bands once I got further along. It didn’t effect my labors: first was 9#5 vaginal delivery and second ended up being a c-section because of my BP and baby was breech. Good luck!

Round ligament. Something that helped was getting on your hands and knees put your arms in front of you and stretch and let your his go outward

I was told it was my body producing too much relaxin hormones…I had it with my 2nd baby something horrible! I had to do physical therapy it was so bad but that only helped the days I went. In between, heating pad & stretches with the elastic bands helped me.

Try a chiropractor… mine has been a nightmare and she’s made a world of difference

My hips hurt so bad with my last and this one! My doctor prescribed me cyclobenzaprine which is a pregnancy safe muscle relaxer. And I started going to the chiropractor and he said that my right side was literally 2 inches higher than my left and that it was clearly way off! So I seen him 2-4 times a week for the rest of my last pregnancy. I’m going to be making an appointment with him again soon for this one too, its getting so bad I cant sleep or even walk with out pain.
I hope you find some relief!

I was having hip pain starting at 10 weeks… started sleeping with pillow between my legs (side sleeping) and it is much better! Still a there but definitely not as bad

I had horrible back and hip and pelvic pain. I trued a chiropractor and it was the best thing I’ve done.

Sciatic nerve, round ligament, hips relaxing and moving for birth… most likely won’t affect labor or delivery in any way.

Isn’t pregnancy fun? :joy:

Mine used to be unbearable. Especially sitting in a car for long periods of time. I just assumed it was from pressure and weight of baby. Still hurts to this day but nothing compared to when I was late in my pregnancy.

Get a belly band! It works great for many reasons! Trust me!

See a chiropractor that’s comfortable adjusting pregnant women. That helped me.

From sleeping on your side your hips can turn and cause issues. My OB adjusted me when I told him about the pain. It’s not pelvic girdle pain and it’s not round ligament pain. Show your dr exactly where it is and when it most affects you.

My hip pain was from low iron and I had to have iron infusions.

Sciatica. Knee pillow and chiropractor

Yes! It’s how the baby is laying. It’s a terrible feeling! I highly suggest going to a chiropractor or massage therapist!

Yup baby was pinching a nerve… It gets worst as you get bigger ugh :sob:

I had SPD during the last trimester and it’s buggered my hips and back now, especially when she engaged early it just wrecked me. If I could have I would have gone to a chiropractor that’s probably your best option to get some relief.

Mine was my hips spreading

Totally normal. My hips killed me

Just had a total hip replacement after my 3rd bc of this!

Idk why anyone would laugh at this. But 35 weeks and 3 days here and I totally feel your pain. People have told me to get a belly band for support. Do the downward dog and butterfly stretches to at least relieve a little pressure, and if you can get in the tub and soak or take a shower and let the water beat on your lower back where the sciatic nerve sits. I’m afraid to say it’s only going to get more intense especially after the baby drops.

Oh yes it’s terrible and it’s your ligaments. It happened to me on both sides. I sleep with a knee pillow and did a lot of crying :sob:
