Had anyone’s baby ever have a helmet for flat head? I’m 100% sure my little guy is gonna need one and I don’t know how I feel about it.
Our 1 grandson did and it was not the most pleasant of experiences for him
In order to reshape his little head the helmet would rub sores on his little head. Try giving your baby some sleep time on its tummy. Just make sure there are no blankets, pillows of anything else that they can smother themselves with
It’s super common now because of the whole back to sleep. If your baby needs it please do it! I used to nanny for a family and they didn’t care about their kids flay Head. We fixed our sons. They’re both 3 now, my sons head looks good and their kids head is really flat and he has awful teeth from still using a pacifier, poor kid.
My little one had a helmet for severe plagiocephaly (from torticollis). She got it at 6 months (3 months is better, more effective). She had it for about 8/9 months. Her plagiocephaly is still a bit mild, earlier intervention would have helped, but with all her hair you can’t tell at all now! It was a bit rough for the first week, but after that she didn’t have an issue! Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
My son did because he had a long NICU stay and torticollis. He got his late 11mos (age adjusted 9mos) but still got 2.5 degrees of correction (he needed 4 degrees). At least his ears are even now which made fitting glasses much easier. The helmet shouldn’t rub sores like the other comment said so if it does, immediately contact the supplier. It’s definitely better to get it early and in the winter months. Even then, their heads stink but it’s not quite as hot.
Please please do tummy time with your lo it’s so important also switch positions regularly so they are not on one spot for to long. If you have to get a helmet due to medical reasons then do so but I feel that a lot of children who are being given these is due to parents not doing tummy time/ holding them and switching positions enough during the first few months of life
My 3 month old is probably going to need one, I’d rather a helmet for a couple months than a misshapen noggin. My ped talked to me about it at 2 month check and it hasn’t gotten any better. I do tummy time and she is up all day, it’s the side of her head that’s flat from night time sleep
Wanted to share my experience:
I was told at 4 months that my son wld need a helmet. In Texas it is not covered by insurance since it is considered cosmetic. I highly HIGHLY recommend this product!!! This product got my son out of needing a helmet. We were told he might need 2. He wld need to wear it 23hrs a day and if he were to have a skin reaction we wld have to remove it until it went away. Therefore he may out grow the first one and may not see the results as effected. At 2500k each 1800k with assistance we were stuck. Then I came accross this! And it changed our life! A little info about it.
This product was invented by Dr. Jane who is also a pediatrition and mom of 4! She will work with you personally and call you to follow up to see progress. We wld send her monthly pictures. My son used it up until he was 8 months and wow the results were unbelievable! It is only 29.99 and can be ordered via Amazon.
Here are before and after pics of my son using this product

My son did. At first I didn’t like the idea. But if it’s not corrected it can cause some issues. Vision, balance, hearing, etc. My son didn’t even realize he had it on most of the time. Just remember mamma, that you are helping prevent some major issues in the future!
My daughter has flat head, her pediatrician told us more often than not it goes back to normal on its own as she gets bigger. she’s almost seven months and it’s already getting better. Since she learned to roll over, she sleeps on her side and belly so it’s starting to go back. also lots of belly time. He did give me a card if I decide to give her a helmet on my own
My twin boys both needed one. It was an overall good experience and I’m glad we did it.
Be glad for such great invention. Many children had flat heads and such that Your baby will not suffer from. I hope this is Your childs first /last need for medical equipment for it’s life. God bless You and your little one.
