I just took my glucose 1 hour test and failed. It was 183. I do my 3 hour test next week which they think i am going to for sure fail. How many of you had diabetes while pregnant and what was the out come? Did you have to have baby early? Did it cause alot of problems?
I didnāt have it however there is still a chance you wonāt. I failed my 1hr test with both of my pregnancies and passed the 3hr both times. Good luck! Either way they will tell you what you need to do and Iām sure many ladies have tips for you
I found out at 8 weeks with my rainbow baby. That I had it. Took meds and poked myself 3 times a day. Baby came 2 weeks early. Came out prefect
I been diabetic with all 3 of my pregnancies just watch what you eat and check sugar 4 times a day sometimes they will just put you on pills or insulin. Prayers for you
I never pass the 1 hour. Donāt panic until you take the three hour. Even then donāt panic, honestly. Finding out you have GD is scary but itās manageable with diet. I have borderline with my oldest and she came early (only by 2 weeks) but she was also 8lbs 4oz I know plenty of people who have had term babies with it. Just stick to the diet your doctor gives you and youāll be fine!!
I had gestational diabetes with our 3rd baby .i was on diabetic diet and she was full term. She was 6lb 12 oz.
I failed both my 1 hours every pregnancy but passed my 3 hour so fingers crossed
Watch your carb intake! Thatās basically all they tell you is to watch your carbs and servings ! No soda, lots of water, and alot more healthier eating.
I just failed my 3 hr blood glucose test. Right now they have me checking when I first wake up then a hour after each meal. They are controlling it with diet. If you do fail you will have to meet with a dietician and a diabetes manager.
I had it while pregnant with my third baby. I felt awful ALL the time. But, baby was not early and everything went fine
I failed both of mine and had to start taking my blood sugar 4 times a day! Watching what I ate was the hardest
.and yes I am having her teo weeks early because if it , they put me in medication, I am actually being induced in the morning at 6 am
I have gestational diabetes. Im on insulin. No problems but they want to induce me early.
I had gestational diabetes with my second daughter. It was controlled by diet, had to test 4 times a day. My daughter was super stubborn and was a week late- had to be induced. No problems during my pregnancy with her- although they did monitor her growth a little more closely.
I had gestational diabetesā¦ I took a class on how to manage it and what kind of Diet to be onā¦ I had to check my blood sugar 4 times a day and do my best to keep my sugar between certain levels and write them down on a paper to show my dr at each appointment and I was told if I didnāt get my levels at a decent number id have to take insulin shots but luckily I did really goodā¦ and no my baby came out 4 days past my due date as a emergency c sectionā¦ and while I was at the hospital they checked my blood sugars every 2 hours even though your not allowed to eat once you get there. After the baby is born they check the babies blood sugar every few hours as well to make sure their levels arenāt to high or to lowā¦ it didnāt really cause problems but itās really annoying to want something to eat and have to wait till your allowed to eat during your diet and trying to fit certain things in your diet
My sister had gestational diabetes and she had no complications went full term with her baby and didnāt really have any problems! She did need to have a c section but thatās only because baby was sunny side up!
I am 33 weeks and 5 daysā¦currently have gestational diabetes. I poke my finger 4 times a day and watch my carb intake.
I failed both of my 1 hrs and passed the 3 hr tests with both of my kids
In had it. 6 months in we found outā¦ but i completely just kept doin my normal thing. the things i was eating i coukdnt eat but everything was from wic and the things i wouldnāt eat because i was told wasnt good for me they told me i could haveā¦ lots of back n fourth n cofusion so i stayed doing my normal things. My baby was five weeks early but honestly I had her a few days after they gave me the whooping n flu shot n after researching I think those shots contributed to her coming early.it was a normal pregnancy till those shots. she was 5.4 18ā she was in nicu for two week so her lungs could be top notch then she came homeā¦ completely thriving teething n crawling nor (7months)
I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour test. Maybe youāll pass.
It can be managed by diet and moderate exercise. That being said, diabetic patients typically have babies that weigh more.
I had it, it was way worse in my head than it actually was. The first couple weeks are frustrating while you figure out when and what causes your blood sugar to go out of whack and after that itās not much of a big deal. I had no complications due to GD, didnāt have a huge baby. I did go 5 days over due and ended up with a C-section but that had more to do with the OB doing a membrane sweep without consent and him accidentally breaking my waters as a result.
Sierra Lara a little comfort, a lot of the ladies are saying they failed the one hour but passed the 3 hour!
I failed both. Mine was diet controlled. I had to test my glucose before and after every meal. I did end up going into natural labor at 37 weeks, but both baby and me were great! My baby boy also passed every glucose test after birth with flying colors.
My first baby I failed the 1hr went back for the 3hr and got sick 5mins in they didnāt have me retest. My second baby I failed both. I had to test 4x a day and change my diet but didnāt require medication intervention. I gave birth at 37w3d 7lbs 13.2oz. I stayed 48hrs and my son was admitted into NICU because his pancreas needed a boost. He was on 10cc IV sugar water once an hour for 3 days and spent an extra day and a halfish for observation of his oxygen levels because they kept dropping.
I failed the first time and failed the 2nd time with my first and now Iām pregnant again and failed the 1st time again I called them yesterday they want me Continue my diet and check my sugars and if they are high write them down and I see them in 3 weeks bc one I took last week made me so sick and I couldnāt do it I told them I rather do that then do that sugar test again
I had GD both times and it was very easily controlled by diet! I even stayed low carb and lost an additional 40ish lbs even after losing all the baby weight!! That was the 1st timeā¦then i got pregnant again! I didnt even go back for the 3 HR test the 2nd timeā¦just went kow carb. Had both naturallyā¦had to be induced 2nd time but that was due to preeclampsia! Weights were both under 9 lbsā¦which was my main concern that they would be too big lol
I have 6 children. 3 girls and then 3 boys. In that order I didnt fail the one hour until I started having my boys. With the first 2 boys I failed the 1 hour and did fine on the 3 hour. My last boy and final child I failed both the one hour and 3 hour. I saw an endocrinologist throughout the rest of my pregnancy and they monitored my blood sugar. I did end up on insulin and they watched my little boy. He was actually born via csection the day before he was due. He was 9lbs 3oz and 24 in long. I think as long as you follow whatever they say you should be alright. Also I had a csection only because my other 2 boys were born csection not because of the diabetes or his size
183 isnt that bad really.
Iām type 2 and 160 is within range.
Walk, watch carbs and sugar. You may be able to avoid meds.
4 kids an 4 failed glucose. It was bad enough for me to do the 3 hour all 4 times but after that i never heard anything else about it. If its bad then your doc will instruct you further. If not then nothing else really happens after
Mine was diet controlled through both pregnancies as long as its controlled through diet or meds your baby will be fine. If it isnt controlled that is when the baby grows too big too soon and is born too early but still underdeveloped. By controlling your levels it keeps the baby from producing their own insulin and keeps them the size they should be to prevent early laborā¦some women dont realize that just bc the body is growing faster doesnt mean the babys lungs develop any faster and so they risk early labor thinking they can get the pregnancy over faster not realizing what the true harm isā¦but as long as you monitor your glucose level and keep it under control baby is fine and otherwise normalā¦it wont mean they are at any higher a risk for diabetes themselves but if you have it you might be at higher risk to develop it later in life so it is good to keep it in check a bit after baby comes for your own health but otherwise afte the baby is delivered you go back to eating as normal and can have anything you want right after! So itās not really as bad or as scary as it seems. You will also have help with a nutritionist etc if you do have it to help with your plan to keep it under control.
I did. They had to run the same test multiple times. I was told diet control. (No juice) and when they tested after pregnancy it was gone. My little girl was born super healthy and is now a rambunctious 3 year old tornado
I had gestational diabetes with my last child but there was no problems or complications. BUT I did get diabetes about 14 years later. It runs in the family. It has been controlled with medication until a month ago when the Dr started me on insulin.?
I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour with my 3rd. If you ate anything with a lot of sugar before the test it could have effected the test.
I did with my first son. I had to watch what i ate. He was big baby. Now I am pregnant with number 2 boy. I failed my hour test. I do my three hour test next week.
I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour. After 3 hour test dr actually said had low sugar.
My last baby, I failed my 1hr but passed the 3hr. It all just depends.
I had to watch what i ate and had more ultrasound i had this with all my babies when born they all needed a bottle cause there sugar was low
I had gestational diabetes with two of my three. All I had to do was test my sugar an hour after eating and when i first woke up. Had first baby the day before due date and she was healthy. My third (other with gestational diabetes) was about three weeks early, also healthy.
Keep your sugars as normal as you can. Less high sugars, less problems. Also, donāt be upset if you need insulin. Remember, that insulin doesnāt cross the placenta, but high sugars do.
Also remember because you gave GD, doesnāt mean youāll have a big baby (as long as itās controlled). My first baby was 7lbs, my second was 8lbs and my third was 6lbs.
Failed my first and the 3hr sent me into laborā¦the loading dose from the mag made me sick and I threw Up the whole drink but I passed it
I had gestational diabetes and everything turned out fine. Of course I had to go the dr a little more and they monitored me a little more closelyā¦ as in I think I done 2-3 24 hr urine samples. And I had to get stress tests done once a week once I hit 32 weeks. My dr wouldnāt let me go past my due date because of the risk of having a large baby. I was a first time mom of course so I was scared and made sure I done what they said for example only ate certain foods, checked my sugar when I suppose to and all that. I was induced on my due date and had my baby the next day and she was only 6lbs 15oz.
Best advice I could give is do what your dr says. And donāt let others tell you oh this little piece of cake isnāt going to hurt anything!! Do what you feel is best and it will all be ok mama! Good luck!
I failed both. I had GD. I had to do insulin. My baby boy was 10.15ozā¦ he did have to spend 5 days in special care because he was having some issues. Hes 1 now and hes fine. I am fine as well, no diabetes.
I had it. I was scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks but he came on his own at 38+2. 6lb 7oz his sugar was low for a bit even though I was very strict in my diet. Finger pricks and diet sucked but it is what it is. I needed insulin at night for my fasting. Just lots of dr appts ! Good luck!
I had it, no problems though. I just cut out foods and things I needed too. Except for the occasional slip Never needed to do anything more then just track my blood levels.
I had no complications during birth just had to be induced at 39 weeks and everything went fine with that too.
Had it with both my kids I was on a diet and meds for it with my daughter had her at 38 weeks and my son I had at 36 weeks they caught the gestational late and I got preeclampsia suddenly
I failed my 1 hour test both times with my girlsā¦and had to do a 3 hour and passed bothā¦the night before your test nothing to eat or drink after midnightā¦watch carbs and sugars and drink lots of water
I had GD with my 2nd boy. I was closely monitored throughout my pregnancy and had to give myself insulin shots as well as follow a strict diet! He was born 8lbs 2 oz when we thought heād be over 10lbs! One good thing was I walked out of the hospital 33lbs lighter than I was at my first OB appt!
I failed my 1 hour with both of mine and was borderline with the 3 hour. I didnāt do anything special because of it. My first came at 37 weeks weighing 7lbs, second was 39 weeks at 9lbs. Both healthy and never had an issue.
You can also fail if you have insulin resistance
I failed both!! Tried with strict diet, still didnāt help. I had to stick myself and test my sugar a few times a day and then had to take medicine!!!
I had gestational diabetes with my 1st born. I didnāt need to take anything, because I maintained a healthy diet afterwards. I had a full term healthy baby boy and never no issues afterwards or in my 2nd pregnancy
I had my baby at 38+5 with induction, I was going to be included at 38+6 as he was measuring 9lbs but ended up with preeclampsia as well so they induced me a day early. He was born at 9.2lbs and had low blood sugar. They had to test his sugar frequently, I had no choice but to give him formula to try and bring his sugars up, it worked and he is now breastfed!
I had it with both of my pregnancies. I just had big babies. My daughter was born at 42+3 days and weighed 8.6 amd my son was born at 36+3 and weighed 9.10. My daughter is diabetic and has had 2 healthy pregnancy.
I failed the 1 hr, and found out I had the flu during my 3 hr test so I failed it. Came back the second time for my 3 hr and passed. I asked around and itās pretty common to fail the 1 hr but pass the 3hr. Dont stress too much.
had gestational but was diet controlled. due to already being on metformin for pcos, they still had to induce me for safety. my guy was just 6 lbs born. healthy and happy. needle pricks were all worth it
I had it with both babies. 1st got it later in pregnancy, the second, fairly early. Diet controlled until 32 weeks with 1st, diet controlled the entire time with 2nd. Both were scheduled for inductions at 39 weeks, but 2nd came on his own before the induction day. More Dr. Appts and ultrasounds than those that donāt have it. Stick to your diet plan. Get some exercise and breathe. Itās not the end of the world, as I learned, 1 finger poke at a time.
I had it with #1 and #3. I didnt really have any issues. But I know with #3 the insulin and diet did not help very much. But dr wasnt worried about it. SMe with #1, they kept upping my dosage. But I had all 3 babies at 37weeks 6/7days, even with #2 and I didnt have a glucose issue. During labor, they did monitor my sugar and had me drink soda and juice. My babies were 5lbs or 6lbs. They say GD can cause bigger babies. I also went into labor naturally.
Just be very careful with what you eat/drink. Drink mostly water.
I had it and i had to prick my finger 5 times a day and watch my sugar intakeā¦i had my baby a week early because she was already at 8 lbs ā¦when she was born she was healthy and the diabetes went away for me
I had diet controlled GD with my daughter. They induced me at 39 weeks because they thought she was only going to be 5 lbs and she came out a healthy 6 lbs 4oz.
