What is it like having a scheduled c-section?

Having a scheduled c section late January/ early February. Really wanting to hear some experiences and what to expect last baby was urgent c section very scary.

Pretty quick. I always request not to see the table with all the stuff on it cause it freaks me out and I’m in the medical field lol. I’m having my 5th c section in April. Good luck momma. Remember the more you walk and move the less pain you’ll be in.

Actually I’ve had emergency c-section and scheduled c-section. Scheduled is so much more calm, fast, and easy. Since you are prepared and have it planned it gives you more time to just enjoy the whole process and more time to spend on the baby. I’ve never had a baby the regular way and my emergency c-section was very stressful and very scary. Scheduled births take all that off the table and leaves u with a peace of mind to be the mom we all want to be.

I’m having my 4th c section in November and honestly since you know what to expect as far as recovery-it’ll be a cake walk for you. I plan on taking my kids to school and going to the hospital and just having another baby :slightly_smiling_face: it’s nothing like an emergency!

Ok. So my first was an emergency c section. I was in a larger room because usually when you give birth vaginally, you do it in your room, so they give you a large room. And It was much scarier because I didn’t know what to expect at all. I thought I’d be pushing, but things got scary real quick with the emergency c section.

My second child was a planned c section. As I said, we got a smaller room, and everything was so planned out and not as scary because I knew the basics of what was going to happen. I will say, afterwards it was scary because my baby sucked up fluid in his lungs and they literally had to beat it out of him for about 5 minutes before he started crying. That was very scary. Other than that, everything went as planned, the recovery was about the same, after c section you’ll spend about 30 minutes in recovery then I got to see my baby and husband. We got in on thursday and got home Saturday. It was pretty awesome and not nearly as stressful. Best of luck momma.

I had one emergency c-section and two scheduled. Scheduled is wonderful. You feel no pain. You see yor baby immediately and it doesn’t take too long for the surgeon to put you back together again. Within 24 hours you feel pretty good. I had 5 day stays in the hospital and Demerol the first two days. Now I’ve noticed women coming home in 48 hours post c-section. I’m glad I got to stay longer.

I had 5 C sections in 6 years.

They are all tough but honestly, they get easier to deal with as you go. Maybe bc you already have been through it. My first and second were both emergency C Sections, both traumatizing. The scheduled ones were more peaceful.

I had 1 emergency then a scheduled. Scheduled scared me more than emergency as they talked me through EVERYTHING. That frightened me real bad. My emergency was traumatising as baby was transferred to another hospital just afterwards but it was easier that I didn’t no what was going on through the section. Everything was good though, I stayed in overnight, no problems at all. 3rd baby, easiest to recover and was very happy with everything and how it was planned.

I had an emergency c section for my first and scheduled for my last. Scheduled was so peaceful. I got to play music. No pain. Got to see my babe right away. My husband was with me the entire time. Recovery wasn’t as bad as the first time because I knew to get up and going. I stayed 4 days since baby had to be monitored for jaundice. But it was so nice and relaxing. I had everything packed beforehand. My house was ready for baby to come home.

I found my planned section was so chill. And recovery time seemed quicker too.

I’ve had 1 emergency and 2 scheduled even if one was scheduled the same day. My emergency csection was very crazy but the scheduled were pretty nice. There is the pain management person that stayed the entire time to make sure I was doing OK and focused only on me the whole time. I didn’t get to hold baby right away and barely cam see baby right away since arms are forced out and baby gets wrapped up so no skin to skin right away. So that’s kinda eh. My 3rd csection my BP got a little high so I had to stay an extra day. Personally they are not painless for me. They are rough compared to my 5 vaginals I’ve had. Once the pain meds wear off it I’m very stiff and blah and it’s easy to overdue yourself. Idk if it’s the hospital I give birth at but since 2018 they never offer a wheelchair anymore when discharges and I will say I have worn myself out just during discharge walking out and been in immense pain because a wheelchair is no longer offered and I’m holding baby in a carseat standing the whole time bc there are no seating while I wait for someone to get me the ride to go home. I passed out before my emergency AND my baby didn’t live. So not a whole lot to compare to other than the recovery amd well all the csections hurt a lot after for me needing more than just ibrophen or Tylenol. I’m usually pretty good with pain but I don’t like this pain. And the pain pills get me constipated too so ugh. And being extra constipated was super rough as well.

So it takes about 45 mins start to finish.
I had 3, they will take out to OR set you up. Once you are set up your support person will then be called to come in. You are awake 100% you feel nothing boibs down. You can not see anything. You will not feel anything other then a little pressure when they push the baby up to grab them. Depending how they do it you may not have any out side staples they all may be inside staples

I had an emergency under general and then a scheduled, it was amazing, b3st day of my life, no labour, no pain, no stress. .

So my last baby stopped growing at 35 weeks and had to get out they decided to try and induce me but after 6hours nothing happened so we agreed to a section a few days after once I had the steroid injections for her lungs. Honestly the run up and even sitting waiting to go to theatre I was terrified I met my surgeon and his team on the ward and from then I felt so at ease even it being major surgery her birth was my best birthing experience I have ever had! I walked to theatre and even having the spinal and all throughout the surgery the surgeon and team were talking making jokes explaining everything to me I loved it! I guess everyone’s experience is different and I feel my experience was hugely impacted by the team I had xx

I had to go through my scheduled without my partner which broke me, but they were there for me as if he were. They were so helpful (even during my emergency too) but I found the scheduled much more peaceful and believe it or not, it was so much quicker. I healed faster after my scheduled too.

Planned csection was nice and I found myself recovering faster than I did from vaginal birth. I got up the next day and left after 2 days of being in the hospital

It was sooooo much better than my emergency one!! I wasn’t exhausted from labor and I knew what to expect.

I’ve had 3 sections… first was terrible… second was scheduled and my EASIEST recovery

Well I was very high risk. I saw 4 specialists every week for the entire 9 months the. 2 specialists every 2 wks for my baby the entire 9 months. I was given 10/31 and 11/1 for my scheduled c section and my due date was 11/7. My specialists were 5 hrs away one way. So they were very long appt days and didn’t want any surprises. I picked 10/31 and the doctors pushed for me to make it the 1st. I said it wasn’t an option because since I saw the pregnant sign I knew my baby would be born on Halloween whether I wanted that or not. They called me crazy. But they morning I had to get up at 2am and start the trip down for my noon delivery. My feet never swelled but that day you couldn’t even tell my leg and ankles apart and my toes were huge! We get down there at 8am, check in and get me all hooked up to machines snd the nurse looked alarmed. She asked if I felt any pain or discomfort and I didn’t (I have NO feeling in my back as i have a fused spine from my neck to my butt so my nerve endings havr been gone since i was 10 and i was now 21) and she asked to take a peak under the blanket, shr walked out, came vack and ssid i was going to the operating room NOW because the machines were registering contractions every 7 minutes. I had to be put fully under because they couldn’t do local numbing/epidurals because that stuff doesn’t work on me so due to that, and constant blood loss for 2 days I was unconscious and unable to spend those importsnt days with my child snd they called cps on me because of thst. Turns out I needed 2 bags of blood.

First baby was an emergency c section, second was planned. Both were pretty smooth in my opinion, nothing traumatizing or anything. Was up & walking the halls less than 12 hours after surgery. Had a four day stay with the first and one night with the second.

I do however have a tip for you. Put a pillow on your stomach and push it towards you when you cough, sneeze or laugh. It will ease the pain.

Good luck momma. You got this
