I just had my son 10 weeks ago and I decided a regular pill would be the best option for me. Unfortunately, like most things, it’s hit or miss. The first one they gave me messed up my cycle but so far I’ve had no issues with the second. I did not like the idea of an iud or implant because I’d like to be able to have the option to try for a second baby without having to have something removed.

The pill was a no-go for me. After having my second child, I got the Mirena. My periods have completely stopped, but it’s also stopped my ability to lose weight. I’ve tried almost everything. In fact, I’m gaining. Also moods are up & down. That’s just my experience on it so far. Definite positives and drawbacks.

there are many options, and your doctor should cover them all with your at your postpartum appt. everyone is different, so you’ll have to find which is more practical for you. for me - the pill made me an emotional mess and a bitch. :disappointed: the mirena IUD is what has worked best for me. no side effects, and no periods!

I loved the Nexplanon, it goes in your arm and is good for 4 years! Only after having it switched out for a second one did I start getting side effects but for 4 years it was glorious.
Had the IUD and loved it too!5 years no periods and didnt need to remember anything daily. But it made me gain like 35 pounds which sucked.

I had good luck with Mirena in between my two kids

Birth control affects everyone differently. Some people might not gain weight on one type, but others do. Talk to your dr. It may be some trial and error to figure out what works best for you

Nexplanon is great. I used to do the pill, but I’m busy and can’t remember it in my busy schedule now. So the nexplanon arm implant was easy and just stays in your arm. For 3-5 years. And it doesn’t bother breast feeding, that was the big deal for me.

I have nexplanon and it’s been great, its good for 3 years and sits in my arm.
My son was conceived when I was on the pill with a back up method.
The shot had too many side effects. The ring I tried for a cycle and it was uncomfortable for me

If you plan to breastfeed then you’ll be on the mini pill until you’re done. All others have too high a hormone balance and will mess with your milk.

Mirena worked well for me. Had no periods at all. Got off of it to get pregnant. Worked like a champ

A copper IUD. You bleed a bit more but it is so worth it. Don’t have to remember a pill…

I have another daily pill I need to take so the pill works for me. Very mild side effects, no weight gain

Nexplanon… Or whatever the arm implant is called. I loved it.

I had an IUD for about 3 years. It was the paraguard. It’s hormone free. I didn’t want to gain weight or want extra hormones in my body. I also wanted my periods because it’s typically for most healthier for you . Plus it gave me my peace of mind each month. There are no side effects. Your period could be a little heavier for a couple months and then everything evens out. I really liked it. After I have this baby I will be going back to it.

Nexplanon all the way. Two of our three (although we certainly wanted 3) were conceived on the pill. Both were different types, so I don’t trust them. Never had any issues with nexplanon and after removal only took 2-3 months to get pregnant.
