Depo shot or IUD? I’m bad at taking the pills lol

I have the Kyleena and love it  it works for 5 years

I’ve been on depo for 6 years and it’s the best bc I’ve ever used. I haven’t had a period in years and I only have to remember every 3 months.

Depo. I loved it. I had no side effects or periods. You’re going to hear horror stories about ALL birth control. You’re just gonna have to try different things to see what works for you. My horror story is with the arm implant. I bled HEAVILY for the whole month I had it and it caused severe mood swings. I felt psychotic 99% of the time. And it fused to the tissue in my arm after that short of a time so removal took longer than it should have.

No depo shot!!! I k ow several people (myself included) who used it and had horrible side effects. No good reviews at all. I started it in March and didnt stop spotting until I stopped it three shots later.

Neither lost my left fallopian tube due to an ectopic pregnancy caused by an iud… had it less than a year… it was awful…

I swear by depo, had all other methods and just made me ill or didn’t work for me with problems. Never had A period since…i my first injection over A year ago.

The shot messed me up really bad and I had my period the whole time I was on it. I don’t recommend it.

Big fan of the shot. Had it for 4 years. Then took a 3.5 year break to have babies. Just went back on it :+1:t3::+1:t3:

Mirena IUD I sometimes(90% of the time) forget it’s in😂 since getting it I only get a period one day out of the month. Yeah it’s a heavy period but it’s worth it tbh

Set an alarm on your phone for your pill

Done both
IUD - no maintenance

Implenon. The dr inserts into your inner part of your upper arm once and you are set! No chance of falling out

Currently pregnant, was on depo. :woman_shrugging::woman_facepalming:

I have the nexplona and it last for 3 yrs

BTW My daughter has the Nexplanon and has had no problems…

I’m on the depo and love it. It’s not going to work the same way for people just like alot of birth control doesn’t. You gotta find one that compatible to you.

I’ve never known any friend to make it through with the shot. They all have children. And if you get an IUD, get the non-hormonal one (I think Paragard) because I got the Mirena and gained a ton of weight along with getting acne. :grimacing:

I wouldn’t suggest the shot. It screwed my body up pretty bad. But honestly, everybody is different. It may not affect you like the next person. Maybe see what your doctor would suggest?

Depo had it years ago when i was 16 bled for 6mths straight got off went back on pill my mom didnt like it and had me put back on shot didnt bleed or spot for two years… Got back on it in 2017 after the birth of my son and the same no periods no spotting NOTHING!! But i do get very hormonal at times i feel like especially towards the end of the cycle!! So there ARE definitely side effects but thats with everything… A friend of mine had a friend that got pregnant with an iud thankfully they got it out and she didnt miscarry!!

Depo work well for me

Nuva ring!! IUD can be good if ur body doesnt reject it

Everybody is different

I had the Mirana I loved it also was on depo loved that too but to make the doctors visit every 3 months a little annoying

Thanks for reminding me to take my pill :joy:

Depo means weight gain

I just had my Mirena removed because it caused cyst on my uterus, weight gain, constant pain, headaches etc. I don’t recommend the iud

Paragard IUD. It’s non-hormonal and lasts 10 years.

Depo was a bad experience for myself and my sister. Bled for 3 weeks out of the month. Extremely hormonal.

I love the depo shot. I was on it a few years ago but went off when we decided to start trying for a baby. It took 3 years. I went back on it two weeks after delivery. I spotted for a couple of weeks but then no periods. I haven’t had any other side effects.

Drop gave me migraines. Iud gave me a son.

I’d say the IUD I know people who have gotten the depo and it made them gain a lot of weight but it could do everyone different I have the IUD and it’s awesome I haven’t had my period in months either and the one I got it’s good for 5 years but talk to your doctor about both and go from there

I’m on the depo shot and I’m pretty happy with it. It hasn’t caused any weight gain, I don’t have a period and don’t have to worry about taking a pill every day or having something inside of my body.

I tried an IUD twice and I kept getting bacteria infections until I got it out… both times. Never tried Depo but I’m just gonna get my tubes tied and say screw it. Lol

I loved the depo…u get a shot every 3 months

I love the depo. I was on it before pregnancy and again now after pregnancy

I just put on weight with it

I’ve had both. Loved both but IUD is easier

I had a terrible experience with the IUD I’ve been on the Depo for almost three years I have zero problems and no periods

I gained 50lbs in 3 months on depo, broke out in acne on my face, back and chest, my hair started to fall out, I bled almost everyday on it and I became extremely depressed. Was only on it for 9 months and after going off of it, it took a year for my body to return to normal.

With the depo I bled for a year as that is how long I tried it for. With the IUD I Know at least 4 people the had to get it surgically removed

I love my IUD I’m on my second one

IUD, I have the arm implant, never have thought twice about birth control in 5 months

Depo! Definitely my favorite.

Im on depo and love it get a shot dont worry about it for 3 months then get another easy peasy lol

NO IUD OR DEPO !!! The IUD was very bad for me! I got mine surgically removed after 4 months. And the depo causes your bones to get weaker. And causes depression

I have had people get pregnant with both so be careful…

I did the depo for three years. Started cramping really bad and gain 50 pounds. I just got my tubes taken out and it’s almost the best choice I made

IUD, less weight gain and they even have a job hormonal version for less mood swings.

I didn’t like the depo shot I gained 70 pounds in 1 year because of it. Now i use the nuva ring and i haven’t had a problem since

IUD ! Depo made me gain weight and fast . Made me feel like I was pregnant… IUD I had for 5 years … no period (so lucky ) and no pain . Had it till right at my 5 years … would of got it again but we wanted to try for another baby . Had it removed in October got pregnant in June but it can happen as soon as you have the IUD removed .

Neither both suck! Nuvaring is what I use. 3 weeks in, 1 week out.

I’ve know 3 friends with iuds that had permanent damage & had to get them surgically removed. If you want sex with anyone bigger than 4 inches skip the iud. Condoms work wonders & won’t kill you

I have the rod in my arm and I love it!

Been on Depo 17 years no periods. A little cramping and spotting only sometimes when I am due for the next shot. Has been good for me.

Depo. Was on it almost 10 years with no issues. I have too many close friends who have had IUDs surgically removed

Be very careful with the depo shot make sure who ever gives it does it in the arm or the right location on the hip.
I had a doctor screw up my depo shot and nearly paralized me from the waist down. I had been getting the depo shot for 10 years before he screwed it up. The 1 time i had a different doctor do it cause we moved and he nearly cost me my ability to walk. So if you go depo please make sure whom ever does the injection knows what the hell they are doing and stays away from the sciatic notch.

The depo shot made me gain like 40 lbs being on it. The iud is not as much weight gain but after a couple years I started having issues and pain with that so I had it taken out early. Have U thought about the patch if they even still have that. I was on that years ago. U just change the patch once a week then on the 4th week just take it off. That of course would be your menstrual week. It stays on in the shower and everything. If they still have that that’s what I would recommend. Of course I got my tubes ties after my last one and he’s 13 now so now sure if they still have the patch.

What about Nexplanon?

Depo! Do not get an iud!!! To many risky complications that could happen!

Never tried the depo but I had an iud and no period but horrible pain and my periods were horrible after I got it taken out like pain to the max maybe look into the arm implant also my sis has it and has had no affect on her and she had the depo shot got sick and gained weight plus she also tried the iud and had the same problems I had but everyone is different so good luck

Paragard iud. Not mirena. Paragard has no hormones so no weight gain, periods are normal (may be just a tad heavier than normal)

ILOVED the depo shot! So easy and no periods!

Hysterectomy has been wonderful :100::heart::bangbang:

I have nexplanon, love it!

Never had the IUD (my mom did and it caused her infertility after me). I had the Depo shot and absolutely hated it! Caused me to bleed all the time. Have you considered the patch?

IUD. They have a hormone free one called the Copper T. I’ve had it for two years now no complications.

Depo shot. My daughter has been on it for years and has no problems.

I love the iud. Got pregnant on the depo

I have been on depo for 12 yr love it … Only thing was the weight …but no other problem s…

Xulane patches work wonders for me. Change it every Sunday for 3w, take it off the 4th Sunday, have your period, then repeat again. Simple. Doesn’t come off in the shower or pool, don’t come off when you pull your pants or panties on/off. It’s great.

Don’t fuck with that depo… Iud isn’t great either risk of displacement. The implant in the arm is great…

I did depo for 8 years before I went off to have my kids. Had no issues with it.

IUD definitely. gained 15 lbs in 3 months with depo😫

Marina IUD Its great had it for 5 years then another five no periods at all

I have liletta IUD. Had it 2 years. No period. Gained weight though. My niece has been on depo for 4 years. She has had maybe 2 mini periods. But very moody after the shot.

Paragaurd iud. No hormones. And good for 10yrs. I personally react bad to anything with hormones in it. The paragaurd is copper and no hormones and does the job. I’ve had mine for over a year now without any problems. And u can get it taken out at any time and try for another baby without complications. The iud with hormones in them getting removed can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks for your body to regulate without the hormones and allow u to get pregnant after removal. (What I was told by obgyn).
Everyone’s preference is different. This is just what works for me personally, and what my obgyn recommended for me bc I can’t take anything with hormones in it.
I would suggest researching each one yourself and doing what your comfortable with and what works for you. I did alot of reading on birth control options before I made my decision. Also, obgyn is great to talk to about it and can answer any questions u may have. They also have info packets for each one so u can see for yourself how each one works. Don’t be afraid of being open with your doctor about your concerns and interests in what you want for your body thats what they are there for.

I got pregnant and miscarried on depo… Got pregnant with my 4 year old on the pill…im on #3… Tubes tied is out of the question for me so I’m going to try an IUD this time around.

I love the depo when I took birth control. It was amazing. I had no periods and no weight gain. And I was bad about taking pills so it was my best choice. I took it for 2 years then came off of it had my oldest daughter then was on it for 4 years and came off of it to have my youngest daughter.

I use to work in a pharmacy and the IUD patients came in for antibiotics a lot. Said something about it moving and getting something infected inside. They got it removed. And just be careful with the depo. I personally know 4 when who got pregnant. You are supposed to wait a certain amount of time after the shot each time before u get “active”

Paragaurd IUD! I love it… it has made my period last a few extra days. But that is it! I have had it for 14 months! Its the copper one. No hormones!

If you have had depression or post natal depression, be very wary about the depo shot as it can make it worse

Iud! Depot is the devil.

I have the paragard (Cooper IUD) It’s non-hormonal. Have had it for 5 almost 6 years and it last up to 10

Ask for nexplanon it goes in your arm and last for 3 years and they can take it out anytime u want.
