Hey mamas! I’m going in for my 6 week Postpartum appointment from my first baby. My doctor wanted to discuss/make discussion on the birth control I will be taking. Any advice on which to use? There are so many to choose from! I am not breastfeeding and also am interested in having another baby around 3 years from now so I wanted something that was easy to stop taking and be able to get pregnant again decently fast when my hubby and I decided to have another. (aware that it would take months after getting off birth control) TIA

I know a lot of people may disagree but I personally really like the IUD. I had the Liletta before getting pregnant and ended up getting pregnant within a month of it coming out. The only side effects I had when it was in was painful cramping every once in a while.

Doesn’t always take a while to get pregnant after birth control, I’m sure some do, but I was on regular combination pills and I got pregnant immediately after stopping, like I literally ovulated two weeks after stopping it and have a wonderful 2 year old boy now!

I’d go for the implant in your arm it lasts 3 years and fertility returns strait away

Nexplanon lasts 3 years. I had nothing but problems with it (every woman is different though)

Mirena would be good for you. I’ve tried soooo many different forms of BC and mirena was my favorite. I’m 3 weeks postpartum and in 3 weeks I’m getting the paraguard only because I am breastfeeding and I definitely dont want more kids and it last 10 years. You will be very happy with mirena
I had the IUD and it fell out. And I got pregnant in less than a month without trying.
I have the implanon in my arm and it has worked wonders for me. No more kids. Very light periods. Not sure how quick it works once out. I know mine is overdue to be replaced but they can’t get me in right away. So I gotta wait and they warned me that I could end up pregnant.
Skyla IuD always worked great for me. It’s lower dose of hormones than the Mirena and it’s good for 3 years. Lighter periods or none at all. I still had one every month but it was light. No side effects for me.
I had an implant in my arm. It lasts 3 years and after it was taken out I immediately got pregnant the next day. I had mine taken out early though, due to it wasn’t a birth control that worked for me. Made me super moody and mean.
Mirena worked well. It was a no thought thing that worked when I was overwhelmed with the baby and would have forgotten to take a pill.

Mirena IUD is a 5 yr, but can be removed anytime you would like with your doc. I preferred the IUD over the pill.
I use a copper iud. …Last 10 years but can be removed any time
I had my Mirena for 6 years and then it came out in it’s own (be careful) in April of 2018. I found out I was pregnant in June and had my son in February of this year.
My period never stopped. It was regular every single month for 6 years but it was a little lighter than usual.
3 yr Nexplanon I’ve had it 3 times works great don’t have to worry bout it for 3 yrs. It’s perfect for u. Plus it make ur period stop most of the time. Some girls are different tho. But I absolutely recommend it!
I’ve always taken Ortho Tricyclen Lo and I’ve never had any issues. If I wasn’t getting a tubal that’s the form of birth control I would be using after this baby.
Paragard! Has been great for me after my first baby
I have the Mirena iud and love it! It’s good for up to 5 years but can be taken out at any time and it’s easy to pregnant again once it’s out. If you are sensitive to any medications I would really recommend it! I’ve tried over a dozen pill birth controls and they all made me sick I’ve had this for almost a year and it’s been amazing
If you have a history of depression, just beware that you have a possibility of developing post natal depression and if that happens steer clear of the depo shot as it can make it worse
My sister n law used an IUD and when they decided it was time for another baby she just had it removed real easy and a month later she was pregnant
I started the pill what Will be doing paraguard(iud) lasts for a few years and i can just take it out whenever we plan on having more kids
