What is the point of sing a boppy for a newborn? Can someone explain?

The boppy pillow? It’s to help with positioning the baby to breastfeed. You wrap it around you and the baby can rest on it in a variety of positions. I also used it to prop up my little facing me when getting dressed so she could see me and not freak because she couldn’t see me. But it was amazing for breastfeeding.
I rarely use it for breastfeeding but I use it for my oldest son to have more confidence when holding his baby brother and also for baby to just be up a little more instead of the floor or use it backwards for tummy time.
