What is everybody’s budget for their children for Christmas? I have 2 and feel like I go overboard and i really don’t have the money to.

If you go overboard when they are little, then it’s expected every year. Just get a few things.

We have 6 and spend $200 each. Definitely not overboard but it’s in total of $1200 which is more than enough.

I don’t have one I spend easy 6-800 per lid. Got 3. Can I afford it oh no lol

Christmas isn’t about material things

We actually a couple years ago did a 2nd hand Christmas. I wasn’t in a position to buy brand new items. I used Yard sale sites on Facebook + marketplace and thrift stores. My kids still talk about it being a memorable Christmas and how excited they were! At the time my budget was $150 per kid plus $100 per kid for Santa

I told them to pick 10 things this year, two big and the rest little things. I also tend to go overboard and they get shit all year long. I’m actually happy they stopped believing lol.

I typically try not to spend more than $200 per kid. And I also start months in advance so I can buy one or two things here and there and not have to fork that out all at once, otherwise I definitely couldn’t do it. Especially when I get gifts for multiple other family members as well.

It’s whatever YOU can afford! Don’t go into debt over Christmas

I always feel like I go overboard. But I start shopping in like September. So I can do it slowly.

I never keep a budget with my daughter… she gives me an idea of what she wants I go through and see if anything is ridiculous on it, or more money than I think it’s worth I cross off that stuff… from there I decide the stocking stuffers, what her big present from us will be, what Santa is bringing, and then add the rest… one is always a night before Christmas gift… typically she gets around 10 to 12 gifts in total… but she is an only child… this year its 8 gifts from us, two from “Sanata” she just likes the idea of us saying Santa lol she knows the difference… but she’s autistic so we go with it!

Do what is comfortable in your budget. If you go overboard they’ll expect it whether you can afford it or not. What I spend doesn’t have to be what you spend- it’s not a competition.

What you can afford .
I ask my daughter to make her list since June so I can start buying stuff early and then divide what is still the car with my mom and sisters

I only have 1 so I don’t have a budget. Only problem is he just turned 13 so he is hard to buy for now. He tells me he doesn’t need anything but it’s Christmas so of course I want to buy him gifts for Christmas morning. I don’t like just giving money or gift cards I like for him to have things to actually open under the tree. I miss him being 3-4 years old.

No budget, I just buy as I go and what I think they will like! I put a lot of pressure on myself though, I keep a list in my phone as I buy.

My kids make a wish list each
They get a decent main gift and a few items they really need
I have 7 children
2 youngests I do a layby for as they are the only ones that believe in Santa

I have 4 kids- with stockings and all we prob spend about $200 per child

We just get them one main gift & some smaller ones. I have 2 kids as well. They grew out of toys so it’s getting harder to shop for them.

My suggestion is to not compare yourself to others. We all make different income amounts. Just do the best you can!

I have 2 and usually spend about $400 each. This year is much different for us and spending about $100-$150 each. They both get so much through out the year we don’t even know what to buy when it comes to Christmas so we feel the $100-$150 is plenty.

no budget. different kids. different ages. different wants. however i started xmas shopping back in August :woman_shrugging:t4:.

I have 3. We do stocking stuffers and they get anywhere from 5-10 gifts a piece depending on size and price. But they are the only grandchildren and we have a huge extended family that gather during the holidays, my parents spoil them so here at home we do not tend to do that during Christmas.

Mine are all older, so they’re getting expensive. I fill their stockings, they each get a few small gifts, a new outfit, a new set of PJs and one bigger shared gift - usually a trip over February break to Kalahari.

I have two & I don’t have a set budget but I make sure they get the same amount of gifts. They both get a bigger gift & the rest are some things on their list. I get them a new pair of shoes & clothes! And typically something they need. We also fill their stocking with little odds and ends.

I buy all year round for Christmas & birthday. If you wait until now you’ll pay higher prices. I bought my daughter’s big gift in June. It was under $30. It’s now almost $50.

I don’t really have a budget for gifts. I don’t add it up. But if I had to guess I probably spend about $100-$150 each. It depends on what they want & how cheap I can find it for.

I have $300 to spend on all 3 of my girls. I’m on a tight budget this year. I’m gna be buying my toddlers toys from second hand baby stores and my oldest the 2-3 this she wants (a skateboard, sewing machine and a over sized adult hoodie)

Something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read

I look for specials throughout the year during sales. Altogether I spent about $200 for both my 2 children. I brought 2 batman robots was $250 down to $50 each and other toys also on special. Adding everything up on original value would be over $800plus. So basically $100 per child and

Get them one toy, something to wear, and a goodie bag of their favourite treats. It’s the treats they will be excited about the most.

Overboard? Sounds like you can afford it. :woman_shrugging:t3:.

Usually under 200 per kid

$50 each, nieces and nephews
(7 kids)

My kids no more the $100 each (3 kids)

3 kids we do about 500 each kid but we also buy them shoes clothes along with toys. We also start shopping around September and buy a few here and there until Xmas

I’m getting what I can get and that’s gonna be enough I have no monetary goal

This year we are trying the 4/5 gift method
Something to wear, want, need, read (eat)

Do something they want, something they can share, something they can wear and something they can read .

$500 roughly each but depends
