What job do you have if you have school aged kids?

What job do you have either part time or full time that is great for kids schedules in school? I wished I could find at home job but they are hard to come by… I work at a daycare now and I’m just exhausted honestly. Wanting something different. Thanks!

I work as an EA for the school board and it’s awesome!

I was a para for a few years and then got my CDL to drive bus. My kids ride my routes with me, works for us!

I’m a hairdresser. I do Monday-Friday 9-2

Full time. It doesn’t work with my schedule. That’s when “It takes a village” comes into action

I manage an alternative wedding wear boutique, my husband is in logistics. We’ve been on opposite shifts for a few years. It’s not great for the romance, but it works. Someone is basically always home.

I teach preschool. The hours align with my son’s school s schedule and I am off in the summer.

School cafeteria
Sub in the school

I’m a nurse. I work AM or PM shifts. My kids dad helps with the drop off and pickups when I am working. You could work as a school nurse or in community nursing.

I work from home in collections

I’m doing aged care overnights I love doing overnight and I’m just fortunate my husbands staying home and my mother in law helps too.

You can always work as a substitute

Housekeeper, hrs are 10am-2pm, works perfectly in school hours and I can bring them with me when it’s school holidays.

Work from 830-330, in the morning drop off my 13 year old to school, he gets dropped off after school to my house by a friend who I pay $5 a day to do so. My 2 year old gets dropped off at day care afterwards on my way to work, then I pick him up at 330pm and we head home to meet the 13 year old. I work for a non profit organization.

I work as PRN in healthcare, I make my own schedule. It works around my schedule and my kids schedules.

You could do house cleaning. You can fit 1-2 houses in while they are at school. That can become an actual business if you try hard enough. I did this for a while. I really got to a point in life that I wanted to make better money and do something a bit more rewarding though and went back to school and became an occupation therapy assistant. I work M-F and it pays well.

Server for lunches mon thru fri

I have 2 jobs. During the week I clean houses & air B & Bs with my cousin. Weekends I work at a paintball place, as my husband is off weekends. I only clean 2 houses a day during the week so I have time to pick up my youngest by 3. My oldest is virtual school as the HS & middle school in my district is SOOO BAD I refuse to send her there. So it works for me

Worked as a para for a while. Now I’m a nursing scheduler for a nursing home

If in the US Hire on with the school district as I’m sure yours is just as short staffed and desperate for cafeteria, janitorial and bus monitors as ours and almost every other district across the nation.

I work midnights currently. My husband and I work opposite shifts .

WFH medical billing, flex my schedule. I agree, hard to come by. This allows for me to attend school functions, school drop off and pick up.

Try fast track medical coding, a lot of those positions are remote.

I’m a text and chat crisis counselor for the 988 suicide lifeline and I work from home. I make my own schedule and it’s really good pay but you have to have the mental capacity to deal with people day in and day out that are in crisis.

Serving at a restaurant that has lunch shift. It’s honestly perfect. Lunch is 11-2. Normal serving shift for lunch is like 10-2:30. I’ve done it the entire time my son has been in school. If you can find a place that has quality food and stays busy, you should make good money for the amount of hours you’re working a week

Banks! It’s been great around their schedule

I work in a local factory on third shift… Sleep while they are at school… During the summer you’re home in case of emergency but they can make sure to be respectful of your sleep… It has worked out great as I can get the kids ready and off from school, sleep during the day, pick em up from school, make dinner, get em off to bed and leave for work… It just depends on if you’re a single mom and if your kids are old enough to stay at home alone at night if there isn’t a partner involved. Hope this helps…

Environmental specialists. I do inspections looking for water damage and mold in people’s homes. I make my own schedule and only work during school hours. I also manage the business for my boss. No college education required (depending on state).

I work at an accountancy firm, I work the same as my children’s school hours which is close by also & can work from home if need be.
Drop them off on the way to work & pick them up on the way home, so perfect for our family.

Bus driver, school cafeteria or school office job. They all come with benefits and good hours!!

I work in my kids school in lunchroom the time works for someone to be home when they come home from on the bus.

I work full-time, and have the kids full-time.
It’s not easy, but I make it work (most of the time).

I’m fortunate that my kids are old enough to get themselves off to school, and I have flexibility to WFH.

I work in insurance.

Honestly it took me 9 years in office to land a remote job. People make It sound easy. If it’s too good to be true it usually is.

I work at the school and drive school bus.

There are lots of jobs out there. People are nurses and teachers, doctors and lawyers and work at grocery stores. People have to take care of their families so they have to work.

Get a job with the school - teacher’s aide, yard supervisor, or cafeteria. Kind of nice to have same days off too.

Had our kids in (paid) private school open 6 am to 6 pm. School Age Child Care (SACC) after-school care only went until 4 pm and slots filled up in Northern Virginia as soon as registration opened. There are martial arts programs here that will pick up your kids from school (for a fee) to take classes, but many of us cobble together solutions like one parent works 9 to 6, one 6:30-2:30 so kids can be dropped off at 8 and picked up at 3:30 or something.

It’s tough, and don’t talk to me about summer care! Thankfully our private elementary school had a year-round program but for middle school we cobbled together a series of Rec Center classes with before and after programs. For people making lower incomes most times it doesn’t pay to work because of the cost of care.

You could get a job at a school with the same hours as your kids’ schools. If you have a bachelor’s degree you can substitute teach in area schools, and most places are desperate for subs so you can likely teach as much as you want. BF also became a licensed tour guide to earn money while his kids were young; a possibility if you live near a tourist destination. Most groups were school kids.

Good luck!:four_leaf_clover:

I work in pharmaceutical manufacturing, mon-Fri, I go in between 5 and 7 so i get off between 1:30-3:30. I have to have someone get them ready & on the bus but I am home when they get home from school
