Depends on how old it is. If it’s older you don’t have to disclose it at all.

He might have better luck with a smaller company instead of a big corporation. They seem to be more lenient depending on the situation instead of having strict policies or sometimes don’t run a background check at all.

Most manufacturing plants

I’m from Pa and my husband has works for utlx also known as union tank car company. They are tanker trains it’s union and pay is good. He has a felony they have other places in different states. He also drove tow truck that was good money. I know a felon who works for the union painters of America he makes good money.

Walmart is felony friendly

My husband does hiring for road construction jobs and he has said if a person comes in looking for a job dressed for work ( wearing jeans and work boots) then he usually gives them a chance. So I’m not sure that’s what they’re interested in but it’s worth a try. There’s quite a few companies in Nc that would be options.

Any union job. Great pay.

Farms / ranches there’s a lot in NC but I will say it’s a lot of work for not the best pay. Awesome lifestyle though  good luck! My sons father is a felon and does well in construction

Depending on when the felony occurred and what it was will determine what job he can do. I realize that’s a very vague answer, but it is true.

Where in North Carolina? McCarthy tires does they have a store in Wilmington NC

You would be surprised the amount of government/political office positions a felon can hold. Otherwise it depends a lot on what/how long ago it was. A lot of companies don’t really care so long as it was 10+ years and there’s no current probation/parole to have to work your schedule around.

Cheesecake Factory, he can move up quickly and they pay pretty well for kitchen. Management is :moneybag:

Prayers in Jesus mighty name Amene

My boyfriend is a felon and he walked into a dealership to ask for a job. He got hired immediately for service department. If a job is low staffed then he could have a good chance of he talks to someone right. If he has references or some type of proof that he’s a good worker (reviews from past jobs) I’m sure he can find a job. He never told them about his felony but they did a background check. I’m sure it popped up but they never said anything. We are in Georgia though…

A lot of times it depends on the charge where I work if it’s a drug charge they don’t even check for it.

I’m in VT,but work for the VA hospital. I know a few people that are felons. So maybe another VA.

Depends on if he’s on parole or probation. It depends on how long it’s been and it depends on if it’s an aggravated charge her I worked as a staffing consultant, and that you do the things that employers look at.

Depends on what your felony is for…

If you’re a violent felon or have anything to do with endangerment of a child (which is a violent felon) or something along those lines you’re gonna have a harder time finding a job.

If it’s theft or stealing you’re probably not gonna get hired as sales associate or get a job at Walmart or Target etc.

With drug charges you can still get jobs with almost any food service. You can also do many factory jobs. There are temp services that will find you work.

Usually it depends on the felony. Be more helpful if we knew the charge

Just Google list of companies that hire felons.

Anything trades and fishery

You can check any temp service and they will get you a job. If you do well where they place you most of the time you ll get hired in full time.

Try garages, car dealerships, maybe tire stores, bakeries.

Volunteer someplace so they get to know you and then get a job there. If not, use the people who know you to network & be references for you. Ask everyone who knows you for the name of three people to talk to about jobs. Getting recommended is the best way to get a job, felon or not.

Apply with private contractors in the area. Major companies cannot hire him due to the liability clauses in their insurance.

I believe Amazon hires felons and pay is good

All depends on what his conviction was, how long ago, and if he’s still on parole or probation

If he walks in with a resume, that lets them read that…meet him…then the felony can come up during the interview where he can explain versus being immediately vetoed from checking that box on an application.

It bugs the crap out of me that people laugh react to this. He’s obviously trying to better himself and find a job. Why is that funny!?.. my bf is a felon (11 years) and now makes $21/hr doing what he loves) It is possible. You just gotta find the right people to work for. I know it’s not ideal but you could also call around and ask companies. Good luck

And to the people laughing at the poster, I pray you are never in a situation that you can’t find a job and when asking for suggestions or help, people laugh in your face. It’s not hard to scroll on if you don’t like something. It’s also not hard to BE NICE.

I just googled it and this is what popped up on indeed. I’m not very educated on this nor have I been in this situation but I think most people deserve a chance to turn things around and live a good life. Best of luck to y’all! Hope this helps. :two_hearts:

Anything construction lol. I know quite a few felons that do outside work like that. Road work, concrete, etc

Check the state laws on getting certain felonies expunged. Not any felony, they have to meet certain requirements and standards. Michigan has something now where they can file to get 2 felonies and 3 misdemeanors expunged come October of this year. It’s a process to do it, but find out if there’s anything like that in North Carolina.

Look into trades and trade school.

Is the felony over 7yrs ago?

100%agreed DONT MOVE TO NC it’s very hard to find a good job. Yes they are supposed to hire felons but you have ones that say if the felony is 6+ yrs 10+yrs ago and if you come into work with a shirt on that they don’t like they can fire you. I know a single mom who moved to NC with her two kids in hopes to get a better job to support her and her little family she is a felon. This lady has all her rights back except for guns, but she hasn’t been able to find anything decent was even fired on her birthday at a 7eleven gas station because corporate office found out she had a 5 yr old felony her felony isn’t drug related, larceny nor murder/rape. She can be a clerk in a courthouse but can’t work for a seven eleven. This state sucks! I never post anything on here but when I seen your post I wanted to warn you. If you have a family to support I would consider somewhere else. This economy right now isn’t good anywhere but some places makes things harder on us then others.

My husband is a 2 time felon and he has his own drywall business. He makes a shit load of money and they don’t care about his record. Getting into drywall is a great option and opportunity for felons because there is always money to be made there. If he can’t start his own company right away he can get on someone else’s crew and still make great money. Just being on a crew he can make over a grand a week. You don’t need any training but it is hard long hours. Learn the trade and you can make 4 grand a week easy.

I never tell employees I’m a felon.

The Asheville area is full of opportunity in the restaurant business. Pay is $18. for line cooks, no experience

Lmfao well maybe your husband shouldn’t be a loser felon :woman_shrugging:t4: he can work at McDonald’s like the bum he is

Goodwill has a program that helps felons find real jobs

Restaurants. Idk if that’s what you don’t want to hear, but they’ll hire and you can work your way up with the right educational background, regardless of felonies.

You have to wait till you get to n Carolina and see what they have you can Google info

No one hires felons in North Carolina. Better you move to Maryland or DC. Check their laws.

Megaforce Staffing helps felons find jobs

Google who hires felons in NC. We have a lot of places for felons to get a good job. I would check them out before y’all move.

Landacaping… Schill Grounds Management

He can go for any job depending on what the felony is for and how long ago it was , he needs to write a letter about his felony and the changes he is making .

Join the laborers union, or operators union, he will make a ok wage & get insurance included in his package for him & the family. People says $35 a month in dues is buying a job but if I were to buy my insurance through my job I’d pay $800 a month. :woman_shrugging: My husband is in the operators union & has been since 19. Both of our sons joined unions at 18 both own homes.

A lot of times it depends on what the felony charge was. A lot of mfg or construction companies will hire a felon as will a lot of companies.

Indeed.com can be filtered to find Felon Friendly programs in your area.

Non-violent felonies can be expunged after 15 years and violent felonies can not be expunged without an act of God, selling your first born, a pardon from the governor, and a public lashing, in the state of NC.

If you’re in a crunch and need some form of income, restaurants will always hire likecty-split, but there is no money in that industry anymore.

If he is only a one time offender he can ask for a pardon from the governor and that is almost as good as an expungement. That can also go a long way when it comes to getting am expungement if applicable. Expungements only cost 1k plus the cost of court and filing here, please always seek an attorney for this.

If you guys are moving to northeast north Carolina and don’t mind the drive, the naval shipyards are always hiring in VA, he can also get his CDL and haul containers to and from Port of VA. There is also a military training base in Moyock, NC called ACADEMI and they don’t start out at much, but at least it comes with benefits.

Barber… and they make good money

FedEx, Amazon, dollar tree all hire felons. I know someone straight out of prison that got hired on at FedEx. A lot of places do, believe it or not
