What should I buy before my baby shower?

What should I be buying before my baby shower? And what kinds of things did you get a lot of that I need not buy? Thanks!

An Ergo or a nursing pillow

Dont buy anything. Make registry with different places see what you get then get what you still want/need.

Wait till after the shower so then you know what you need

Buy diapers and wipes. You can never have enough and you can switch sizes down the road if need be. Do not buy clothes unless you just find that perfect outfit.

My daughter made registry at different places. When I sent out invites, I put the info where she was registered at. Then what you don’t get you can buy yourself

I did not wait until my shower…because then you are rushed to buy things in a short amount of time. Which is a lot of money.

WhT you can get that you’ll always use is…
Wipes
Diapers (in various sizes)
Meds
Soaps
Lotions
Clothes for when the baby is older (most people only buy newborn to 3 months)
Burp clothes
Bibs
Milk storage bags
Breast pads
Postpartum care items
Baby bug spray
Baby sunscreen
Teething gels
Baby spoons

Realistically you can buy whatever you can never have enough of!
And what we did was we added money onto a reloadable gift card (visa) each week if we didn’t buy something…even just $10 each week adds up on the gift card overtime!
Then after the shower you have a gift card full of cash and you can purchase whatever you want

I’m going to be honest I got all the important things/more expensive things because no matter what you will need them and if someone doesn’t get it for you, you have it. If they do return it and get something u need. I have a nine year old and I’m 5.5 pregnant now. I needed so much after my shower I wasn’t prepared for my daughter the first time. Don’t get me wrong got plenty of awesome gifts just not everyone realizes what you need if they aren’t mothers or w/e. It’s never bad to be over prepared.

I’m waiting till afterwards so I’m sure to buy only what I really need and didn’t get money is tight so id rather just wait and see first

I bought all the expensive stuff and let everyone just get me diapers, clothes, wipes, and bottles and stuff

I bought a lot of diapers/wipes. I wasn’t too concerned with the brand but i did get Fragrance free/hypoallergenic just Incase my little one had super sensitive skin. I also bought just random sizes in onesies bc target/Walmart usually has really good sales on them. I didn’t buy a lot of soap/lotion bc of worries with skin issues. I just stocked up on those when I knew what my kiddos could use. I also didn’t buy a lot of just one type of paci/bottle bc each kid is different. I did get burp rags/bibs/cups and those kind of things. Every time you go to Walmart or target, add as much as you can spare to a reloadable gift card (to that store, not a visa bc they have fees sometimes) so that after your shower you see you still need a LOT, you’ll have the gift cards and not be out a lot of money at one time.

Get what you can, include remaining necessities and wants on registry or ask for gift cards and get whatevers left afterwards… expect way more outfits than your baby will wear before they grow out of them. Get baby mitts… nobody remembers them and they will claw the crap out of their cute little face without them.

Register everywhere( Target, Buy Buy Baby, Walmart, Amazon) get the goodie bags, save $$$, sign up for baby freebies online. Wait till you baby shower. Do a diaper raffle.

Definitely do a diaper raffle and get some decent little gifts for prizes. Some people do gift cards for prizes too.
If you buy larger outfits remember seasons change. Buy larger stuff for cooler temps and warm blankets for when baby gets bigger!

Buy diapers. And wipes.
Seriously. Lol
If you have a local mom group, join it.
The one I’m in always has moms looking to trade, sell or give away items they don’t need. :green_heart::green_heart:

Buy diapers and wipes. Always always always.
A baby bath would be a nice investment, but baby soap is never a worry because you will get a ton! Along with detergent for the little one.
A thermometer. A small groom kit for baby, maybe a few towels and wash clothes. Not something a lot of people think about until they need it.

I had my baby shower at 7months so that I can have time to buy whatever we were missing, I luckily got almost everything I needed just had to get more wipes shower wipes and all the hospital stuff id need underwear nursing bras breast pads! Don’t forget about yourself momma
