My daughter will be almost 1 at Christmas….then her birthday is January 4th. What the heck do you get a 1 year old for Christmas and birthdays? lol I’m starting a college savings fund, but I want her to be able to open presents also.
Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. What should I get my 1-year-old for her birthday? - Mamas Uncut
When my daughter turned one I got her a ball pit. It’s the only thing I got her because she was only one and because her birthday is 6 weeks before Christmas
If she isn’t walking yet one of those toys with wheels that helps lil ones walk, has activities on front. Lil riding toys, are fun too, blocks, à lil stuffie with various activities like crinkly noises, rattle in it, soft doll etc…
Clothes, teddys, books, scuttle bug, paints I think they do mess free colouring sets by crayola too… tbf a big box wrapped up would probably do too as kids usually love the boxes more then the thing inside
Some of yall need to know what 12m olds do and don’t play with. Kids really don’t need ANYTHING over $20 bux ever! Until they’re almost 2. Go to a dollar store and just buy a crap ton of kitchen stuff and let em have it.
Tactile toys. Go to Amazon and search toys for 1 year old. You’ll find blocks squishy toys. It’s a lot about getting them to reach and move.
Diapers Wipes Clothes my daughter is turning 1 in 3 weeks this is what I buy
Bath toys, sensory toys or a busy board, little ball pit.
Clothes, ball pit, a ride on , a bedroom makeover, stroller with a doll , blocks
I got my kids clothing and things they needed until they actually cared about getting things. They only cared about the boxes and wrapping for the first year.
My oldest daughters first birthday I got her a trike, some learning toys, and a train (she loves trains)
Her first Christmas she was 7 months and I got her a toy box, pull out kids sofa (big w) and also a fee things she needed like spoons bowls bibs etc.
This Christmas I’m getting her a play kitchen, trampoline, clothes and kitchen toys/fake food.
My youngest which probably won’t be much help as she will only be 6 months is getting a few clothes a teddy, play mat and activity centre.
We do 3 gifts. 3 wise men, 3 gifts. This saves money, makes the kids really stop to think about what they want, and makes for a really nice story on Christmas Eve.
We’re doing Disney on ice, a caterpillar dump truck with mega blocks, and a target cart for the tiny one.
They get a book about Christmas and family jammies on Christmas eve. Santa stuffs the stockings and eats the cookies. And we buy clothes throughout the year, but that may change as they get older. So that’s not really in the recipe right now. So it’s pretty much age appropriate toys.
One big gift for the first birthday. Which can be the party.
Same as we do any age children something practical they need something sentimental something educational Nd something fun they dnt need heeps
A smart trike. Like this. It grows with the child. You can take the straps and all off of it to be used as a trike later on. Functional, yet fun!
I bought the bigger toys. Play houses, kitchen sets, ride on toys, etc.
Raio flyer push wagon
Empty boxes
Books
Puzzles
Silly cups, spoons, forks. Few toys
We’ve got a girl turning 5 and a boy turning 1 not even four weeks after Christmas, a week apart. I FEEL you! I’m getting the 1 year old a big ball pit and a bunch of bath toys. He LOVES bath time. And then for the ball pit, they sell like collapsible dog baths on Amazon that are reasonably priced. The balls are the expensive part but check marketplace first. I found a bunch on there for half the price.
Write her a letter and tell her all the remarkable things she’s done in her first year - all her milestones, what she’s meant to you, what she brings to you, her quirks, funny stories, etc. include pictures of her with all the important people in her life as when she’s older those people may not be. Yes, it sounds like an album but when she’s older reading your words about her and the people who may not be around will comfort her, let her know how loved as and special she was as a one year old.
Chapter 2 - her second birthday.
And so on.
And/or get her a savings bond.
At one, she won’t know what a birthday is or remember it, so you really can’t go wrong. Get some bigger clothes and a beach ball. Remember that she’ll have fun playing with the wrapping paper and boxes. Different sized boxes are great at that age.
Nothing expensive. She won’t remember. And definitely not a lot. They like the wrappings. My daughter liked the bags. She carried them everywhere
It’s hard for me to believe that you have No Clue!! I raised 3 daughters plus a bonus mom to 2 children, I now have grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren! The list is really ENDLESS! SMH
I did something like this for my sons first birthday/Christmas…he’s 3 and still uses it to this day…absolutely loves the thing…works on sensory skills, builds leg muscles and is fun for them…supports weight wise for a while
When my grandchildren were that young, we gave them a box of formula or disposable diapers. They loved playing with the paper and empty boxes. They already had lots of toys, etc - - - -
I have one with dob 12/18 and another with 2/3. When they were young, birthday was clothes and things they needed. Christmas was toys. I had all my friends and family on board as well so it really worked out for us this way
We did a few books, a few clothing things we needed, small toy for Christmas and class/ membership/experience gift for birthday. Depending where you live outdoor toys are great too.
I dont buy presents for bdays. We do a party, like bouncy castles, or zoo comes to your house, magicians. I also rent them the indoor tents for them to sleep in for their bday. & on their actually bday we go to a play centre or movies & they get to pick what they want to eat for supper
For my son’s first birthday we had all the family create a time capsule for him to open when he turns 18. At the age of one they aren’t going to remember all the presents, so we did something he would remember
Shes my bday twin!!
Shes a Capricorn!! 1 year old love toys they can walk with and play music. Also a plush baby doll is good for right now. Also its never a bad time to get her future things shell need diapers a potty ect
She has no. Idea what Christmas is, so make it very simple…perhaps an outfit of clothing, one learning toy…,don’t set the standard to high because next year or in 10 yrs you’ll still be dealing with Christmas. Even books are wonderful for small children.
Yes, start a savings or college account, get an age appropriate larger toy and stocking stuffers for Christmas. A smash cake, another age appropriate toy and a deposit in the account for 1st birthday. As parents we usually end up with a house full of toys and nothing for their future. I have a Dec 7th birthday and Jan 3rd birthday, they as well as the Mar 21st birthday sister, had savings accounts and were able to buy their first vehicle when they were 16.
You will find you overbuy for Christmas so will always have something for a birthday present x I think we bought quattro which is giant Lego and a giant soft toy dog. We also bought some toys to support walking that were suitable for 1+.
Books. Sensory toys. Stuffed animals. Clothes
1 year olds are easy
She’ll probably be more interested in the wrapping paper than the actual present
Hell. Just give her an empty box to unwrap
My birthday is also in early January. My.mother always invited my entire class to.a birthday party. Before school I cannot remember.
My kids birthday is Dec 26 and Jan 6. We’ve always gotten them something small and than do day trip to celebrate
A box. She’ll love it!!
Buy yourself something lovely as a gift for her beauty and for your labor in conceiving her, then give her the box.
She won’t know. My granddaughter’s birthday is December 25. They do Christmas in the morning, then have a birthday party in the afternoon with birthday decorations. A one year old won’t know what gifts are what, and will probably like the ribbons and wrapping paper better.
at 1 they like to fill and empty so maybe a shape sorter or something similar a soft baby doll, books, or a toy that lights up and plays music-teaches cause and effect
Books, sensory toys, bath toys. Seriously it doesn’t matter. Even wrapping presents, they love just opening them and its good for them.
Sippy cups, small books, small hair bows, age appropriate learning learning toys, clothes, shoes for when she starts walking (if she is not already)
she is too young to really know about Christmas, get her the things she needs
Sensory and learning toys. Water table, sand, shapes, textured books. It doesn’t have to be expensive at all. My eldest’s first Christmas she played with the box lol
Spread the word about the college fund, maybe others will contribute, but her diapers and wrap them!
My twins’ bitlrthday is also Jan 4th. We usually get them 1 big present and then a few small cheap gifts for Christmas and Birthday.
We got my daughter a bean bag chair. A huge stuffed unicorn. Clothes. Some musical light up toys. Activity table
Just get her a couple of things for both days.
Stuff animals, blankets, coloring books.
We got our son a transitioning learning desk thing that turned into a walking toy
You could give her a bag of cookies and she wouldn’t care…
Nothing because she is too small and does not understand Maybe a cake
Can she walk? If not maybe some toys that can help her. Activity tables? Clothes.
Learning toys, books, clothes, finger paint, bath time toys, hair bows m, cup, zoo pass.
The first of many struggles having a child with a birthday so close to Christmas lol my sons is January 2nd. He’s 9, every year is a struggle and it only gets harder as they get older and stop being into toys!
We did a book from each person with a special message to them inside the cover and when ever you want to read them a book you can read the message from who it was from aswell
My son’s birthday is on the 4th. He is 20 now. But, we always got him all the big things he wanted for Christmas and then like one or two things he wanted for his birthday to go with those big things.
We kept it simple. A few toys, stuffed animals, some blankets etc.
Get her a book, you can read together.
Go to build a bear, record her babbles & make a bday bear. Then get a plain T-shirt & stamp her hand on it. This isn’t for her now. Do this every year until she’s 10 or whatever age. Then gift them all to her on her 18th bday. You can get another bear for her to play with too. Bring in noisey things. Like an Easter egg with a few rice or beans, a squeaker from a dollar store dog toy, some cellophane… Put 1 in each paw.
Fine motor toys and touch and feel books
Books, clothing, bath toys, toys, sippy cups
Usually they like the empty boxes more than anything!!
Manhattan Toy Tree Top Adventure Activity Center https://a.co/d/a0IB4sv
Also get her things she will like by the time she’s 2. It’ll help.
Get her some cheap toys and put money in her college fund
Whatever you do … keep the two separate. She deserves to feel special on her birthday and sometimes that’s hard to do during the holidays…
Throw her a party anyways !!! You only turn 1 once and you need those smash cake pictures
