What should I pack in my hospital bag?

So our baby girl is scheduled for c-section in about 5 weeks. I haven’t gotten my hospital bag packed yet. I’ve never really packed one before!! This is my 3rd child but it’s been 8 years, so I’m nervous all over again!!

What are some ideas of things that are a “must have” at the hospital after a c-section??
What do they provide for you at the hospital? Do they still give you formula and diapers?

Chapstick is a necessity!

Yes they give you formula, diapers, wipes

I didn’t have a c section, but I did recently give birth. They gave us diapers, wipes, formula and said if we needed more just to let them know.

Charger and items to shower/brush teeth, 2/3 outfits for baby. Everything else should be provided by the hospital! Definitely make sure they give you a belly binder!

Extension cord to charge your phone! Trust me on this. Outlets are always so far away that you can’t use your phone while it’s on the cord.

I delivered 37 weeks with Csection. Not planned, my bag was packed differently. They provide your spandex underwear, pads and gowns. I wore them all my whole stay so comfortable, So don’t pack heavy as far as clothes. The only things I brought were shower products, charger and slippers. Baby stuff outfits for pics and going home. Hope it helps! Best of luck.

Slippers, battery charger and your own pads, hospital one’s are huge and uncomfortable… Few nb onsies for baby, receiving blankets…

Loose fitting comfy outfits as you’re going to be super sore!
I’m hoping for VBAC come September, but plan on bringing a maxi dress, maternity yoga pants ( high enough to avoid pressure on an incision if needed) and nursing tops to wear—totally not dressing to impress! Haha

Lmfao packed the whole kitchen sink , used none of it

In my son’s bag I packed going home outfit (but the ones I packed were to big so my husband had to go out and buy newborn clothes), pacifiers, diapers, wipes (hospital provided diapers and wipes though)… in my bag I had going home clothes (comfy ones), slippers, hair brush, tooth brush and toothpaste, snacks, cell phone/charger, crossword puzzle book, robe…

They provide the basics. But I always packed my own shampoo body wash. Pads. Underwear. Blankets. An extra pillow. Slippers. Socks. Yeah they give you everything the baby needs. I would pack a few outfits for baby though. N baby socks. Don’t forget some comfy pjs for you. Maybe a cute nighty.

This is my fourth and I have yet to pack a hospital bag. Lol I’ll send my husband for loose pants, tank tops, my nursing bra, my hygiene products, my blanket and phone charger and the baby’s bag. That’s the only thing that’ll be ready to go. The baby’s bag. :joy:

By the time my 3rd came all I had packed was loose pjs, nursing tanks, giant undies, deodorant, and snacks for myself lol. For baby I brought 3-4 footie pjs, 1 outfit for pictures, and then I had a couple hats and 2 blankets because it was super cold. I also brought the boppy for when siblings came to visit and also I love the boppy after csections anyway. I really packed light and I’m glad I did cause we were there just a little over 24 hours before being discharged anyway

Very loose pants to wear home snacks like crackers n granola bars as a lot of doctors wont let u have a real meal till they see u can hold down a small snack. Phone charger n something to do while u wait to go to the o.r, clothes for baby to go home in. I took my own shampoo n conditioner as the hospital only ever gives me baby shampoo.

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash. I suggest getting the cheap travel sized bottles from Walmart! Take a pair of comfy clothes if you dont like the gowns they give you (I don’t like them) my hospitals beds had a USB port on the bed for chargers but if you’re not sure I’d suggest bringing your own. For baby just clothes and blankets. They provide everything else for baby!

After a csection if u have any stretchy or loose anything is going to be your best friend. I’ve had 4 of them and I go loose even home. A pillow for the stay and the ride home, charger, antibacterial soap.

I took my boppy pillow. It made it easy to hold baby and feed. Plus hold it against your tummy after a c section when you laugh or for the bumpy ride home. I also had comfy sweatpants that I changed into right away and an extention cord for my phone.

I’m having one in 9 days!!! This helps. Thanks

They provide formula and diapers. Ask for a belly binder and they will provide it for your belly! Pack a charger, they provide showering items for csection mamas. Pack 2 newborn size outfits and 2 0-3 month, bring carseat (obviously), they provide a toothbrush and toothpaste. They provide wipes. Bring long pads for your incision! They will provide underwear! I packed a nightgown for myself and baggy clothes. They provide recieving blankets there as well. Pack a hairbrush!!! Snacks too!!!

I brought a robe and a breast feeding top. Wasnt too worried about the bottoms. My first cesarean, I had sweats and they were tight around my waste to the point I clotted around my waist line (no fun). Baby clothes and a portable phone charger.

I’m in the hospital recovering right now. I packed clothes to wear home (loose yoga pants and a tank top) and some fuzzy socks. Toiletries like deodorant toothbrush and paste. The babys outfits (a couple newborn and a couple 0-3). Weve been here 1 day already and that’s all we’ve used. The hospital provides huge pads and granny panties that fit them and I have gotten up but dont plan on getting dressed until I shower later.

Everyone has been very helpful. There are a million lists on Pinterest but they try to get you to pack the nursery, bathroom, and your closet.
