The urgent care doc said my son had some wax buildup in his ear and that these over the counter wax removal drops would help with it. Has anyone tried these before and felt like they worked? We did one treatment tonight and my son says his ear is still clogged. What other things could I try? Thanks.
My Dr told me mix water and hydrogen peroxide up and poor a. Lil in my lil ones ear itl help break it up
They make ear irrigation kits at Walmart/big pharmacies. Works better if you apply a few drops of evoo or mineral oil to the ear and a cotton ball the night before or even 2 nights then irrigate. Make sure fluid is room temp
It’s not an instant solution, you have to treat it twice daily for 4-7 days depending on the instructions & what the doctor recommended. Make sure he is laying down for 5-10 minutes after you put the drops in his ear as well.
I have used this before and it helped
Hello! I’m a nurse and work in pediatrics. The drops are likely Debrox, they help to soften the wax. We use them prior to doing an ear lavage. If you are comfortable doing an ear lavage, you can purchase this on Amazon. We use a solution of equal parts 3% hydrogen peroxide and water (1:1). Do NOT use cold water as it can cause dizziness. You want to aim for room temp.
You need the drops with peroxide in if it’s bad. The regular ones won’t do it. You might need to use them for a couple of months. If it doesn’t improve then you can get a referral to get suction. My son had wax behind his ear drum and some seriously solid stuff in there — it took two operations to get it all out! The Clinician was telling us about people who’ve had flies in their ears and all sorts! But if you get the right drops, it should clear. Put an old towel or paper towel on his pillow as the stuff that comes out can get pretty disgusting.
None of it works for me. Have to have it suctioned
Most recent advice is 50/50 vinegar and rubbing alcohol because peroxide does not evaporate l…use a dropper or wet a paper towel and twist to release a few drops…two or three times a day…lay his head down on something warm so the dissolving wax can drain out.
The over the counter ear wax removal takes I believe Days of drops and then warm water rinse to flush out the loosened wax. It isn’t a one and done type treatment.
Just be careful the dr ruptured my kiddos ear drum cleaning wax out and it remained ruptured for several months.
Just use debrox drops. Let sit for about 20 min the flush with water
So…oop drs
dont do ths anymore…
Go to the health department and they can clean them with a syringe they spray in there. Or at least they use too
My son had his ears flushed by the doctor’s office every month for 18 months then every 2-3 months for another year, then once a year every other and now we are finally good as he has our grown needing that.
Debrox. Any grocery store or pharmacy has it.
most ear hygenists can suction childrens ears, my son has his done at least twice yearly as he has a condition that means he produces a lot of ear wax Over the counter solutions can soften the wax but if its bad it needs help to get it out
Takes more than 1 treatment . My mom aways used peroxide
That never works for me personally. I bought a home a kit to clean my ears and it didn’t work. When I have wax build up I have to have the doc clean them out for me.
I used to have my kids lay down and poured hydrogen peroxide in their ears. Let it sit a bit then turn over and do other ear. 3 or 4 times each ear. Crap came to surface after wipe with tissue
Takes forever to get the wax soft
