What to do for constipation in babys?

My little guy just started purees and his poos have been so hard lately. He screams trying to push them out. I don’t think he’s actually constipated because he’s pooping every day, but what do I do to help him. Would a constipation ease drops or meds help?

Put a little Karo syrup in his bottle

A bit of apple sauce in his breastmilk.

Warm water and belly massage.

Also put some Vaseline on his bum so he doesn’t get a rip when pushing. This happened to my daughter :sob:

Sounds like baby could have a milk allergy or lactose sensitivity. I would talk to doctor about changing formulas over to lactose free or soy for now and see if that helps. In the mean time kara syrup (from the baking aisle) in your grocery store added to some water will help. My daughter was milk allergic and I was breast feeding her and everything I was eating was passing to her and she has so much colic I had to stop breast feeding I had no idea what the issue was. Switched her to a soy formula eventually and she was fine after a lot of trial and error. At age five we found all her food allergies. So be careful out there mamas. Constipation can be a warning sign if you see a lot of it early on.

Mommy bliss constipation ease from Walmart

Karo syrup. I doubt it’s an allergy to milk.

Prunes or prune juice. Make sure they have water with food is also important

Karo syrup mixed with water. Prune juice mixed with water. That’s what my son’s pediatrician told me to use.

Prune apple juice mixed half & half with water… the BabyFrida Windis helped mine a lot the once or twice I needed to use them.

My grandaughter had this they checked for a pocket in intestine . They will outgrow it talk to pediatrician. They had to go to non dairy formula.

What does the pediatrician say?

Water will help and also it’s old time thing if your not confident don’t do but I feed my kids with spoon of unsalted real Irish butter to loosen their stool. Helped every single time, my mom use to do that to us and my grandma

Just a tiny bit in his puree

Try little lily’s corn syrup in warm water, helped my daughter a lot! Very easy on the tummy and helps soften the stool. Also lay him on his back and do leg exercises up and down and straight out. If all else fails a suppository or even some Vaseline on its own

Try serving fruits that start with ‘p’. Pears, peaches, prunes. Pumpkin and applesauce too.

Chamomile tea and Carol corn syrup in a water bottle have him drink the chamomile me al tea and you can even add to the syrup water if you want but keep the water in the syrup and chamomile going in the baby will poop a lot of soy formulas do that to babies cuz it Doesn’t fill them up and then they get constipated
