I’m 33 weeks pregnant and would love any tips on how to deal with Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)?

A weighted blanket helped me tremendously and my doctor said it was fine to sleep with even being pregnant

I kid u not, my specialist for my fibromyliga, said use a bar of Irish spring. It worked great for me. Hope it helps.

I shoved a body pillow between my legs but before i layed down i took pain relievers that pg women can take

I had it bad during my last pregnancy… I would put my legs in the tub and just wash them and the hot water helped some

CBD lotion. It doesn’t get you high but it helps relax the body. Helped everyone I’ve recommended it to whether it was for RLS, nerve damage, broken back, nausea or migraines even. It helps with pretty much everything.

Drink some power ade

Lots of water…walking and a big pillow under your knees

My doctor told me to eat tums for the calcium

A hot shower and rubbing some icy hot on the backs of your legs. I suspect I have it and that’s what I do. If they are also hurting I will take aleve (idk if its safe to take while pregnant but tylenol has never worked for me)

Put a bar of soap under you sheet at the bottom of the bed

Google putting a bar of soap under your fitted sheet. It works!

Bananas worked for me!

I take Calm Magnesium gummies before bed.

4 oz tonic water an hour b4 bed every night

The bar of soap trick never helped me. My dr put me on flexeril the last 6 months of my pregnancy.

Sleep with a pillow between your knees on your right side. Saved my sanity and I got rested.

I soak in some good Epsom salt with the hemp oil in it. After it seems cool air blowing on mine helps ease some of it

Try going for little walks throughout the day.

A bar of soap in the bed. I know it sound completely crazy but it works!!! Put a bar of dail soap at the foot of you bed between the sheets.
I would never made through my whole pregnancy without! Good luck!

Compression socks helped me a lot!

You might be deficient in magnesium or iron? Quick blood test with your doctor to find out. Also from the Mayo Clinic:
"Pregnancy
“Pregnancy or hormonal changes may temporarily worsen RLS signs and symptoms. Some women get RLS for the first time during pregnancy, especially during their last trimester. However, symptoms usually disappear after delivery”

Rub your legs in Icy Hot!!!

I found a hot water bottle helped

I had this and it was horrible! I massaged my leg calves daily and made sure to do it at night too. I didn’t have any caffeine after 2 pm and only had 1 cup of coffee in the morning (if I happened to have two I could tell it was worse). I upped my water intake especially a little before bed. I couldn’t get it completely gone but these things helped a ton!

MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENTS! I swear on my life. I’m 35 weeks today and I’d say probably around 30 I had the worst restless limbs at night. It was the worst in my left shoulder. This constant nagging deep restlessness that made me feel like I needed to readjust and move it or I’d combust. Honestly, like an intense tick almost. I tried icy hot and a hot pad and had my husband rub my shoulder constantly for like a week until I got on the internet and read up on the magnesium. He picked up some the next day and I swear to god that night it was better. By night two it was non existent and I will NOT miss a night of taking one before bed. Saved me, hope it helps someone else!

RLS is usually caused by an iron deficiency. I would have your doctor check your levels.

Vicks on your knees /ankles . Sounds so dumb but it helped me and the advice came from someone else it helped lol

My mother in law suggested this spray, I never needed to try it fortunately but I expect it can’t hurt to check it out if it’s bothering u. Good luck.

Warm shower, deep massage, stretching/exercise, magnesium, practice mind over matter lol.

That was one of my most frustrating symptoms.

Compression socks, magnesium supplements and stretching before bed helped mine!

Talk with your obgyn about your iron and magnesium levels. I had it really bad with pregnancy (still have it 2 years later but on meds) some of the methods that worked for me while pregnant was, keeping a strongly scented bar of soap by your feet under the mattress sheet and eating loads of Bananas before bed.

I am going through this and I am 25 weeks along. Just my right leg and side and it is awful! I ordered magnesium lotion and waiting on that. I have tried compression hose, warm compresses, upped my vitamin intakes. Nothing has worked. I hope you find relief!

Talk with your OB! My iron was low and was causing RLS… Its no fun :sob:

Pickle juice as well. Its what runners use for leg cramps

Hot showers, stretch your toes to your shins and drink a Gatorade an hour before bed. The only thing that has worked for me, I’ve tried prescription pills, magnesium supplements, the soap under sheets and nothing worked.

30 years of trying everything out there. Started using a weighted blanket and haven’t had it since!

For some odd reason with mine I had to completely empty my bladder and then my rls would stop. It was the weirdest thing. I hate rls, it’s beyond annoying

Compression socks and ice foot baths works every time as odd and uncomfortable as it sounds!

I bought 8sheep lotion right at the end of my pregnancy, it was the only way I could get to sleep. It really helped.

Don’t know if you can take medication since you are pregnant, but there is creme you can get at Walgreens called Magnilife relaxing leg creme that works pretty well. You need to put it on pretty thick and really rub it in well. It was helpful for me and I had rls pretty bad. I now take medication that works great, but like I said don’t know about your pregnancy and meds. Good luck!

My granddaughter bought and used Theraworx. It’s Homeopathic. It contains magnesium. She used during her pregnancy with her 3 babies. It works wonders!

If you drink tea stop

I was told benadryl for my restless legs while pregnant.

Those weighted blankets are supposed to be good for restless legs

What helped me was a hot shower, bananas everyday and an iron supplement. Worked wonders

Prop them up on stack of pillows at night

Sit in a hot tub and massage your legs for 15 minutes

I have that and the Dr. Ptescribed REQUIP. And it works. Wouldnt want to be without it

.

Heating pad between your legs

Tablespoon of yellow mustard before bed.

Put a bar of regular face soap under your sheet around where your feet are.Works for me,an old wives tale.

Tonic water or bananas

Talk to your doctor my doctor gave me medication I take 2 pills two hours before bed and I sleep like a baby

COQ10 supplement…ask your doctor. It worked for me.

Try drinking a minimal of 2L water before 6 o clock in the evening. This so that you dont have to get up to pee at night. Plus take magnesium tablets before going to bed. That is what i do. Plus sleeping with an extra pillow between my legs.

Put a heating pad across your legs where needed.

Put a bar of soap next to your legs…that simple and it really works! Promise!!

Eat bananas. Eat bananas. Eat bananas. Your Potassium is low. It should clear up within the hour. After that eat a banana every other day to maintain.

A herbal tablet called pycnogenol highly recommend this took mine away within one week. It’s not the cheapest but worth every penny as I know it’s annoying condition

Take magnesium and iron supplements

Following. I was miserable last night

Shots of apple cider vinegar helps mine. And they make a fast dissolvable tablets at the pharmacy stores. Hylands make it. I’ve heard seltzer water helps but I’ve never personally tried it.

Literally the ONLY thing that has helped my RLS, but check with your OB to see if it’s safe for pregnancy

Ugh I had the worst of the worst when I had my third. It was so bad I tried everything and anything to the point I was up for hours SOBBING :sob: then when my water broke and I was in the hospital they literally shot me with something in my legs to calm them down it was so bad and they told me heroin was cheaper :woman_facepalming:. Oh lord

Jennifer Rikimoto we just talked about this
