When are kids allowed to have gummies?

When are kids allowed to have gummies? My youngest is 13 months and she loves food. Just not sure if gummies are okay.

Depends on the brand. The soft chewy ones my kid was eating around one. But then we discovered ones that were a lot harder to chew. Had to try them first before handing to kid lol

I find the smarty pants gummies are soft and mine could eat them younger for vitamins

My all started by 10 months

Depends on their teeth and chewing abilities. Some toddlers are great at chewing things up completely before swallowing but others don’t. Mine were both around 18 months before they had gummies.

I think they actually make gummies for certain age groups. Look in baby section. They have all sorts of little snacks according to their milestones. Made so they can chew

According to the dentist, never. If she’s a good chewer and they’re a softer brand, I don’t see the harm in trying them. Can be an occasional treat.

Start out with the ones in the baby food area. Plum is the brand.

Cut them up and watch them, just like anything else

Depends on their chewing ability

Not sure what age. I haven’t had a baby in a long time. But they do make fruit snacks that are safe for small children. I believe by gerber.

Umm your kid doesn’t need them right now :woman_facepalming:t2: not judging but like girl she just learning to eat just cause gummies is soft doesn’t mean dissolves easily with saliva like the lil puff do

My daughter eats these. They’re not chewy like normal gummies and they’re a much healthier option than regular gummies. We buy them at Walmart.

Gummy bears? Fruit snacks or Gummy vitamins?

I would personally wait a little longer as they can be a choking hazard but if you do try make sure to get a softer brand that’s easier to chew.

Based on the teeth development and the choking hazard, I wouldn’t till 3-at the earliest.

Usually they say age 4 and above

Gummies are not safe until the age of 5 :slightly_smiling_face:

I wouldn’t introduce yet. I personally wouldn’t at all until school aged as a treat bc they are just so bad for their teeth but definitely at least 3

No gum or candy for years.

I’d worry about them being a choking hazard at that age.

The ones I buy have a warning on the box that says not to give to children under 4 years of age

Regardless of what you decide, please make sure to brush well, gummies killed one of my girls back tooth

Investigate the ingredients.

Id refrain from this…as their nutrition in first two years develops their health for the rest of their lives. Once we introduce sugar at such a young age…they seem to not want fruit n veg as much…who would right ? Sugar is one of the most addictive substances and affects sleep and mood in children. Esp tantrums !

Depends on the child. My oldest two ate fruit snacks around 1 year old. My youngest son who’s 14 months old can eat a 10 course meal but still cannot eat fruit snacks :skull:

Ugh. As long as possible. The sugar crash aftermath is so not worth it.

I wouldn’t be giving candy or gummies to a child that young. -_-

Youre the parent. You decide. All my kids were baby led weaned. They ate what we ate at four months old. I made home made gummies and they ate them at a yr old. I’m gonna say this out loud. SUPERVISE your kids while they eat. So if… they choke on something you’re there. Kids can choke on breast milk or formula. But y’all don’t stop feeding them that.

Wait…. Like weed gummies? Lol

Chill out everyone. She probably means fruit snacks which are not necessarily nutritional but kids like em. Not gonna hurt a kid to have some sugar.

If there was anything I was nervous about I’d bite or cut it in half first

At that age, I’d wait. Honestly, I didn’t start giving my daughter gummies until she was, like, 4. They’re a big choking hazard. Like really big.

I wouldn’t give gummies to a kid that young. There’s a chance she / he could choke or the gummies get stuck in the esophagus.
