If you fellow mommas don’t mind sharing, when did your LO start talking. Not just saying a couple words but when did they start saying small sentences. My son is 18 months and doesn’t say many words at all. He says momma, Dada, he did say Dog all the time, it was his favorite word, but he stopped saying that.
Ms. Rachel is amazing! My daughter is 2 but she’s been not only speaking really well she’s been counting doing her ABCs shapes colors animals since she was pretty little! also look into detox baths super easy and it’s supposed to help with delayed speech too! I do them for myself & my girls.
My grand just turned two and when she did she couldn’t say much at all . ( two in October ) now she is learning new words all the time . Also , my son was like about 3 ! He was / is a quiet person
My son only at 2 years 6 months. I was so worried but he was just shy
My oldest was 9 months, full sentences at a year, my youngest was almost 2.
Pretty sure my daughter gave me sass as she was being born
Don’t stress, they’re all different and will be fine x
My youngest was very close to 2 years old, like 23 months old or so, before she really started talking. Now she won’t stop lol just kidding, but seriously now she talks like no tomorrow.
About 4 and then 3 but if you are worried please tell thier doctor for early intervention!
Um I think my son was 3
My first was talking by 2. My second is 3.5 and just started actually talking and you really have to know her to understand her. I’ll be getting her in preschool at 4, and then speech therapy!
My oldest did everything early, was talking by 18 months and potty trained by 2. My middle daughter was way behind average and didn’t really talk until a little after 3. My youngest is turning 3 next month and she just started talking in sentences last month. Every child is different and unless their doctor is concerned, don’t stress it💞
My son of the same age doesn’t really say any words at all but talks soo much jiberish and seems to understand some things. I’m a little worried.
Check to see if your state/county has an early intervention program. They will evaluate and assess your baby for a speech delay, and then offer services if they’re delayed.
My son started receiving services at 18-months-old and started saying 4 word sentences around 2.5 yrs old. He just turned 3 and his speech gets better and better. So proud of him!
One at 2 and the other didn’t talk till he was almost 4.
My son was around 3 tho he has autism, my daughter around 2 & hasn’t stopped talking from it
My daughter is 4 & she has speech & communication problems. She is in speech therapy. If you are concerned, talk to a pediatrician & see if they can refer you to a speech therapist, the earlier intervention the better. My daughter has been doing ST for over a year & she’s came a long way from where she was. Still have a ways to go though.
My son was delayed we started speech therapy at 18 months he is now 3.5 and just now starting to speak in sentences
Generally the kids talk when they are ready. The answer to your question could be many months different. You can’t compare the sun to the moon. They each shine in their own time.
Also lots of parents are in denial about disabilities such as autism or adhd. Autism is prominent in classrooms now. Parents are in total denial and it only hurts the child. Teachers are not doctors and cant diagnose but we have experience teaching and dealing with these behaviors.
I recommend getting an evaluation for speech therapy! My son didn’t talk till he was 4 but started therapy at 15 months old
My 1st born was using sentences at 1. My second born didn’t start until 3 and half.
My first had developmental delays. Didnt really talk til 5. Even now at 12, shes still in speech. My second was 2.5 when he could talk small sentences, but could say a TON of words by 18 months. My 3rd is started talking at 1yr, small sentences by 18 months, and can sing songs and talk your ear off at 2yrs old. My last is 10 months old. He says a ton of words, i think the dr said 40+ when she did an evaluation.
My oldest and only daughter was speaking in full sentences by the time she was 2. You could carry on a full conversation with her. My oldest boy was a late talker and late walker (16 mths). Didn’t really start talking in full sentences until he was almost 4, he needed speech therapy before he started school. My youngest was about 2.5 yrs. Every kid is different for sure!
By age 20 months if I remember right
2 word sentences around 20mo, and around 50 words or signs by then. Language explosion starts at 18mo so you’ll likely see new words every week/day soon
Have you discussed this with your pediatrician?
They usually evaluate these things during wellness checks/check ups. If they are concerned they usually refer the child for services. (Speech/early intervention)
Both my girls were 2 when they started talking more. My son will be 2 in February and I’m in the same boat… he’s only ever said Mama and Dada and he rarely says it anymore. I’m gonna have to talk to his pediatrician about getting him in speech therapy and possibly evaluated for Autism (he has shown many signs of having it, but I’m no professional so idk if it’s just regular kid things or if he’s on the spectrum somewhere)
My first was about 1 my second was around the same age my 3rd she just turned 2 and we say minimal words but she sounds them out and will try but she’s late with everything sitting up walking talking but I will be bringing this up to the pediatrician but I’m not too concerned as every baby is different
I recommend getting tested for speech and autism (walking on toes, transitions or changes from the norm are dramatic, very smart, artistic, fidgety, likes certain stuffed animals or blankets. Possibly adhd or hd. Cant focus or pay attention to simple instructions or sit for longer than 10 minutes unless sleeping. Kids develop on their own time. If you see an issue. You are mom you know. Follow up. In your case i would get them off tablets and around other kids. Build social skills. Is your child home schooled, public, private schooled? All factors.
Around 2-3 years old. 2 Boys.
7/8 months for my first and just over a year for my second.
But remember this: kids are like popcorn kernels. They all go into the microwave at the same time but no two pop at the same time but they all come out good!!
Also, my kids are growing up differently. I have also run into DOZENS of teachers and folks who are shocked at my kids and swear its not normal for my kids to speak the way they do even at their ages now. We met a 5 year old at the store last week and I couldn’t understand him. We run into 3/4 year olds and they barely speak and only pop out a few words to make partial sentences and THATS whats normal today.
So don’t stress mama. You’re doing great and don’t immediately let these others scare you into thinking something is wrong and your kid needs a dr or meds or therapy. Its sad thats the first advice ppl jump to these days.
That’s fairly normal for a boy at 18 months.
My baby started talking at 3 with help of speech therapy she started at 12m. Get a referral from your pcp for speech therapy he should say more. Google milestones for 18m olds.
Eldest daughter didn’t start until 3 and she’s 6 now and in speech therapy.
Youngest daughter was saying 5 word sentences at 15 months.
Every kid is Wiley different and I wouldn’t stress too much.
Bring it up to the pediatrician next evaluation to see what they say.
I’d get ur baby into speech therapy at 18 months ur baby should be saying about 15-20 words
Every child is different… Listen to your child’s teacher who spends a great deal of time with your child and others of the same age. If they aren’t around other kids get them around other kids and pay attention. At 2 if your child speaks small sentences or phrases but other people cant understand get them evaluated. Does your child spend time with other kids. Pay attention to the other children and social skills. Answer the questions from your doctor truthfully. I have been a kindergarten teacher for 19 years.
My son is 3… Didn’t start really saying any words until 2 mostly gibberish until then… He is in speech therapy and has made a ton of progress since starting… Your lo will be OK… Just talk to peds about speech therapy and if they think it’s needed
My first was talking by 1, second not til 4 1/2 (and now won’t shut up ) third @2
I would definitely talk to his Dr and get a referral for speech therapy. All 3 of my kids did speech therapy by the time they were 1. It definitely helps and it also helped us get my middle child diagnosed with autism a lot faster. Ms Rachel is great my daughter still watches her. Stay strong mama
My youngest waited a long time to really start talking , he was probably close to 2 when he started putting 2/3 word sentences together, like just starting to around that age. But that was just his personality. He refused to learn to sit up for the longest time and crawl, he completely refused to be taught to walk. We would hold him so he would be standing with our help, but he would instantly bend his knees refusing to let his feet touch the floor. He was around the same age as i mentioned above when one day he just stood up n started taking steps lol. He just wanted to learn everything on his own
My son, 3 years old… my granddaughter was 18 months old having full conversations. Each child is different
My oldest was forming complete sentences by a year. My middle child didn’t say more than a few words till after he was 3. All kids are different.
My grandbaby has started saying “I run”. That’s his first 2 words.
Boys take longer. My daughter was talking in full sentences at 18mo. My son was around 3.5
My daughter didn’t speak until she was two but then she knew all the words she wanted to say. So don’t worry they are all different.
My son started talking around 2 1/2 years old. When he started talking, his vocabulary was amazing. He was saying words that an 8 year old couldn’t. My neighbors & friends thought he was autistic, but he’s not. I never thought he was & the doctors didn’t either. He also has a high IQ of 120. My cousin didn’t start talking until he was 3 1/2 & is a highly successful anesthesiologist. So, late talking is not always a bad thing!
Every child is different however if you are concerned speak to your pediatrician about a referral to speech therapy/early intervention services. The earlier Interventions start the easier it is on the little one.
Putting words together around 2 but my son walked at age 9 months and did everything early once they start talking it’s non. Stop lol each child is different even in the same family talk to him more try to get him to repeat words it will come if not talk to the dr and get him checked the sooner the better
8 months before she turned 4, she started intensive speech therapy at an elementary school, and she found her voice really fast, now she never stops talking lol. Talk to his pediatrician
Every kid is different, but I will start by asking his pediatrician for a referral for him to get his hearing test done, if a child has any issues with their ears they will barely talk / speak
All kids are different, if concerned, ask your pediatrician.
My first kid about 18m -2 full blown convention
Second kid 3-1/2 before she said a complete sentence… is in speach therapy, she is 4 now
3rd is currently 18ms old and says about 30ish word but no sentence yet.
Speak to your Pediatrician. May need speech therapy. May be nothing. Every kid is different
