When do you make the switch to a foward facing car seat? I always see so many things about this but do not know which is the right thing…
Rear-face as long as possible. Max out the requirements, but once they meet any of the maximums (height, weight, or age) it’s time to front face.
Look up your state law and height/weight requirements! Also Car Seats for the Littles is a good place to ask 🫶🏼
The minimum age for safety is 2yo, but the longer, the better. The ideal is to max out the height or weight. CSFTL.org has a lot of great resources.
I turned my kids front facing at 1.
It isn’t recommended to switch them to forward facing until they have maxed out the height weight requirements on their car seat. Plus you want to look at your states laws, too. Theres a lot of states where it is against the law to forward face before your child turns two.
When your child meets all the requirements!!
depends on child’s height and weight. Usually 3+ but most kiddos can stay rear facing for a while even if they’re tall. I was always told “would you prefer your child snap their legs or their neck?” You can also check with your local hospital, police/fire department they can help and even install it for you for free
I personally would wait until at least 2 years old…longer if you can.
There’s a legal answer and then there’s a researched answer. Legally as long as you hit your states/countries requirements you can turn them. Then research which is the longer the better. You may have a seat that doesn’t do extended rear-facing so you’ll have to buy a new seat or turn them.
