When is baby to big for a baby blanket?

I feel silly asking but when is a baby too big for a baby blanket? My son has a ton and I feel like he is too big for them? Or is it in my head. He is 27 pounds and 16 months old. Half of the baby blankets don’t even fully cover him. But that’s the point right? So he isn’t fully covered and can breathe? I just feel like he was gifted so many blankets and due to suffocation hazard we never used half of them except in the car and now that he can use them, he doesn’t want to. We will probably use them in the car again but he is too big to be wrapped in them…… when traveling in and out of the car…. So now I’m sitting here like should I get rid of the really small ones?

Make them into a big bed spread:+1::heart:

My son’s baby blanket is an old sheet we had since he was born lol. He’s 6 and still carries it around. It’s currently in my car waiting for him to get out of school.

My daughter was given sooooo many blankets. I kept the ones that were super special and cute, the others I donated to those who could use them :black_heart:

I use throws they are 50. By. 60 inches they are great for covers

I’m 48 and still have one

We have more important things to worry about than a baby blanket!

The blanket is more of a security thing after a certain age. It brings comfort and eases the little ones.

Sew or tie them together to make bigger blankets/quilts. Tie 2 together to make a poncho for the car seat. Or make pillows out of them.

Sew them together and make a collage baby blanket

My son had his all while living at home lol. He took a corner of it to college with him.

I’m 36 and still have to have my silky. I can’t sleep without rubbing the satin between my thumb and middle finger :relieved: but you could find the small ones that are the same size and make him a quilt out of them and keep it for him when he grows up

Have them made into one big blanket for him

My daughter is 14 and still has her baby blanket. It is folded on her bed.

Never to old. Take the small ones and sew them into a bigger one.

I don’t think there is an age limit lol

In the car, stroller, wagon, watching tv etc. lots of uses

I kept my favourite blanket for my babies that were hand knitted of gifted in special way n ditched microfibre ones that I wouldn’t have bought/chosen my self. Microfribre sucks for babies, it’s sweaty.my mother bought my two lovely children’s quilts and they do great with them. light and breathable but warm

I’m 26 and I still have mine. Or at least what’s left of it  Looks like moths ate it but it’s just has a bunch of holes and ripped up from being old. I spent years trying to find that same exact blanket. It was from 95 and just a few years ago I found a brand new one on eBay for $40. I bought it so I can forever have it.

My 12 year old still has her “sniffy” in her bed, it gets taken on holiday and to grandmas house. Can’t see her saying goodbye to it any time soon. I’m 35 and still have a load of blankets and throws. Granted they’re not my baby ones but we love a snuggly blanket in this house x

If you have alot please donate to animal shelters but keep a couple good ones for keepsake .

No baby, child, or adult is “too big” for a baby blanket.
With that said, I’m 33 years old and I still like to cuddle with my one of my baby blankets… my most favorite one is put away because the poor thing has been through so many adventures with me, so it was very well loved. My two sons has a “Linus” blanket as well, but because I wanted to save them for when they are of a age to take care of them, I packed them away.

My 4 year old has one blankey he sleeps with. I stored or got rid of the ones he was too big for just bc of space lol but it’s completely up to you what you do with them. Maybe donate them to kid or woman and baby shelters

My granddaughter is 25 and still has hers…

Sew them together and make a bigger blanket!!!

I made baby quilts for my grandson and he never really used it them either

Listen let him have those baby blankets it makes him feel secure and content, my kids had their blankets way into their teens

I’m 27, & still use mine… :joy: When my daughter doesn’t take it away. :white_heart: It’s just a blanket, don’t stress over something so little.

Never too old for a baby blanket

All my kids still have their one special one. They’re 10, 7, and 3.

I still have my baby blanket. I’m 32

My kids each have one blanket that they cuddle with. We also make quilts for each of them. So, two each. Its like security blankets.

If he’s not interested in them I would donate them to an animal shelter who can always use blankets. If there are a couple that mean something to you (ie; made by someone special) then I would save those or have them put together into a larger blanket he will use.

I save them the nicer heavier ones and keep them in car on couches whatever for the kids to use still. My daughter uses her for her dolls.

Let him have it…it gives him comfort.

Make a quilt out of them.

My daughter is 10. She still has and sleeps with some of her baby blankets. My son is 15. He still has some of his baby blankets. My oldest two daughters are 20. They still have baby blankets on their beds. I know a woman in her 50s who still keeps a piece of her baby blanket in her purse, no matter where she goes.

So, for covering up, his toes might be sticking out the bottom, but for comfort, he won’t ever be to big for them. Take a few of them and sew them together. Make him a quilt. Add to it as he grows.

If you have some that are all the same material maybe have someone stitch them together and make a bigger blanket.

I still have 1 of mine. Maybe pick 2 or 3 of his favorites and donate the rest to another baby?

Great ideas here: sew some together to make a bigger blanket, cut them up and make a quilt (or have one made), keep the more meaningful ones and donate the others in good condition to a family in need or a children’s charity. For the rattier ones, wash them & donate them to an animal shelter.

It’s pretty simple really if you not longer need them or use them them pass them on to someone who does.

Sew them together to make a bigger blanket  …it will look like a small quilt.

Sew them together and make a bigger blanket

They make great lap blankets.

:roll_eyes::neutral_face:I feel like some people just be bored on here with the dumb questions fr

My daughter is 29 n still has what’s LEFT OF HER baby blanket n going!!!

Animal shelters always need blankets. Small ones that can easily be washed

My older and younger daughter slept with there’s my youngest is 11 and still sleeps with its basically security.my middle did but didn’t

Jeezus I thought he was 27 :woman_facepalming:

Wash them and pack them up and save them if your good to have another baby some day. Or you can donate them or sell them

I’m 57 and have mine packed away . Won’t be getting rid of it . My kids are all adults and I saved some of theirs and use with my grandchild. How neat it was to have her portrait made laying on her daddys quilt !

Sew them all together and make a big blanket that he can have when he grows up!!

I secretly took mine to college:joy::joy::joy:

They are never too big!!! I still have mine from childhood! Don’t sleep with it of course but I still have it!!

Stitch them together and make a chair Cuddle Rug.

I have a nineteen year old that still has her baby blanket and my other ones have larger blankets that they sleep with

16 months is still too small to sleep with blankets. During the day when you’re awake and can see him is fine, but not at night

They make great lap blankets no matter the age
