HELP, FTM HERE! my babies turn one this week on Thursday but don’t have their checkup until next week on the 12th. Do I continue formula until then? Or completely drop it. I’m so lost with no help.
I started diluting mine with formula in the cup at 8 months. By 10 months no formula and no bottle.
There’s toddler formula if you’re not ready to wean them from it yet. But if you want to wean them than I suggest doing it slowly and slowly introducing regular milk into their diets.
Wean slowly better for sleep time and stomach. Fruit, Yello at bottle time.
i started when they started eating more table foods. 14 months old they didn’t even care about a bottle lol
I would wait. Just see what your pediatrician says. I was eager to switch but he suggested I take it slow cause some babies don’t like it or are allergic. He gave suggestions and helpful tips. So. I’m glad I waited to talk to him.
Ive always started weaning at about 11 months. Say your baby does 8 oz bottle of formula or breast milk. Take out one ounce of formula and add one ounce of milk on week one. If baby handles it well, then on the second week take out 2 ounces of formula/breast milk and add two ounces cow milk. Then keep removing formula/breast milk until baby is fully taking milk. Ive always been told to start with whole milk.
You can just switch to toddler formula…
test out an ounce of whole milk to see how they handled the change, but still give formula.
give to your baby when you can be there to watch how it goes. if baby takes to it ok, finish with the formula and gradual into the milk. - try 3ounces then to a cup. let your baby let you know if they need more or less too. I was going to get the toddler formula but
my pediatrician explained unless theirs a nutritional need and baby doesn’t take to whole milk ok, theirs no need it’s a waste of $. they will get more nutritional benefits from whole milk fat.
My doctor told me to start alittle after 11 months he also told me to do 2 percent milk because it’s not as heavy and rich and the baby is getting most nutrients from her food she eat now
