Unless they have a neighbor kid to walk and wait with them. I say it’s a no go. The world we live in. You can’t trust that they are safe.

If it’s a work related thing for you. See how early they can go on campus. My kids elementary school opens the gate at 7:40a.

I wouldn’t even trust my middle schooler waiting alone in the dark. Prob HS age tbh

My middle and high schooler get up and get themselves on the bus. I get up and put my elementary kids on the bus.

Never. I don’t trust people

Never. Especially when you live up north and it’s still dark at almost 7 freaking o’clock in the morning.

I was 4th grade when I started getting myself up, onto and off of bus by myself. With that though I’ll say it’s an individual child/family decision. I was a very mature and independent child so it wasn’t a big deal for me. My children were allowed occasionally in elementary(higher grades) to walk the 3 blocks to and from school alone and bus alone(bussing wasn’t provided until 7th grade) until middle/high school. My youngest is a drive way pick up and still wants me to wait outside with him in the mornings even at 7th grade. Only you truly know if your child is ready for the responsibility. Maybe try some trial runs with safety nets in place such as you’re home but they do everything by themselves, you follow at a distance out of sight but they do the process alone ECT until everyone is comfortable.

I’d say 7th grade is a reasonable year to let them put their self on the bus (as long as they aren’t walking alone.)

My kids get on the bus right in front of my house. So they’ve been getting on the bus independently for years. I think they started when my oldest was in 5th grade… now they’re all in high school and middle school. They walk out and wait on the front porch til they see the bus come over the hill than walk to the end of the driveway.

Probably never. My son’s bus stop is a mile from our house (at the end of our road) he is going into 3rd grade so it’s gunna be awhile……

I know high schoolers where their parents still drop them off at school… Todays world I wouldn’t trust kids being alone

My kid goes on bus to school
She’s 12
My eldest was about same age when was going on bus
I get uneasy feeling each time but I don’t show it to them

Mine were doing it about 8

My kids r 9/13/15 and I still take them to school n pick up every day without fail!

Depends on your child’s level of maturity, your community, and if they feel safe.

School bus, city bus? Need more info here

I still take my 14 year old to and from the bus stop the world just really sucks and I don’t trust other people not her

My 8 year old put himself on the bus last year. He gets on at the house. I’m inside and I can hear him outside (hes not quiet) and I can hear the bus pull up. He gets on the bus an hour before he has to be at school my other two are in highschool and do not ride the bus (open enroll no bus for public school) so I have to take them. If my youngest misses the bus it’s no big deal the schools are a block away.
