When to get babies ears pierced?

Shouldnt do it without her consent. So much goes wrong when done young.

I’m sure the place will have an age limit. Let her get her first sets of shots.

I pierced my daughters at 7 months. I wanted to do it much younger (like out the hospital) but my husband was scared. We went to a place that specializes in baby ear piercing (with a real piercing needle) no piercing guns. I tried calling local tattoo shops prior to finding the place we went to, but no tattoo shop I called would pierce babies. I hear some pediatricians pierce baby ears also.

You’re fine to make the decision for her! As an adult who can make choices get a second piercing if you wanna “experience “ it… :woman_facepalming:t2:. Not everyone parents the same and nobody is wrong for making the choices they make… I’d wait for at least 4 months at least or older. You don’t have to wait till she’s 6 years old and decides it! You’ll be ok to make that choice! People have their own kids and issues to worry about then how someone else parents… Good luck.

As soon as my daughter turned 3 months we took her

I was told to wait until after the first round of shots (about 2 months). We waited until our girls were older and chose to do it and picked out their earrings.

YOU DON’T if she wants them SHE will ASK. Mine got done before I asked and I forever have holes in my ears that I don’t even wear earrings to… :woman_shrugging::woman_facepalming:

When you do it, take her to a tattoo shop.

There’s a lot more on my mind with a 3 month old then to get her ears pierced… she could be allergic to the metal, the backs poke her… anything. Why would you want to do that to a tiny baby , for looks ? Lol

Mu sister pierced my niece’s at 4 months. My daughter is 19months & i am waiting until she is old enough to ask. I had my ears pierced when i was 7 & am super glad my mom waited. I also have an allergy to silver & nickel free, hypoallergenic. If it’s not solid gold, my ears will start swelling within 10 minutes of the earring going in.

Had mine done as a baby and hate them bc my ears grew and now the piercings are uneven. My 2 cents.

I got my first daughters done at 7 weeks, my second daughters at about 4 months and my last daughter on her 1st birthday. Had no dramas with the first two but my third daughters got infected so i took them out and wont get them done again until she wants them done. I think you either have to get them done before they get mobile or wait until they understand to leave them alone.

In my opinion i would see if her dr does them safest way to get them done i feel anyway but my daughters dr did hers at her 4 month check up

She didn’t ask for your opinions on if she should get them done, she asked how soon, to each their own, way too many women feel the need to voice their opinion when it isn’t wanted nor going to change anything, if you can’t answer the question she asked, just keep it moving, anyway I had mine done at 6 months, was so happy my mom done it as a baby so that I wouldn’t remember because I loved having them as a child and would have chickened out had she waited

Please don’t do this. So easy for baby’s to get infected ears, pull on their piercings etc. they can’t tell you when their ears hurt. PLEASE wait until she can give verbal consent (3 is when my mom got mine done, after allowing me to choose and explaining it would hurt)

I waited until she asked. I didn’t wana get them done and her not want them, after all it is her body and it should be how she wants.

Personally I would wait until she’s old enough to decide for herself what if when she gets older & doesn’t want it. That’s what my mom did with me

Did my oldest daughters at 2 and my youngest at 6 months. My eldest took well to the earrings but by 5 told me she was mad i put holes in her body, we have since then let them close. My youngest is like me and very allergecic to everything. After the 3rd re pierce i told her we may need to wait but she loves having them. I think under 6 months is the best time to do it if your going to and they have saftey backs so they dont poke her but you may have to face later down the road her not liking that yoy did that to her so youll need to be prepared for that.

Look man, I don’t agree with piercing a baby’s ears when they cannot consent to body changes HOWEVER if you’re dead set on it, wait until she’s 6 months old and go to a tattoo and piercing shop because ALLLLL of their equipment is brand new out of bags every time they get a new customer. It is the SAFEST and most STERILE way to pierce your daughter’s ears. Not to mention, they’re also certified and know EXACTLY what they’re doing. In the long run, it is the safest regardless if I disagree or not.

I had dr do granddaughter (he does them hisself, and sells the earings also) think it was 3 r 4 months

If you decide to get them done, get them done at a tattoo shop. DO NOT go to Claire’s. They use the same gun on everyone’s ear, which heightens the risk of infection.

Of course most tattoo shops will probably laugh at you and turn you away for not asking your child’s permission first, but there are few who prefer your business than risking your child’s body at a place like Claire’s.

I had my daughters done at 6 weeks. My mom did the same with my sister & I. When you get them done early the baby seems to not mess with their ears as much as they would once they were older. Of course that’s my opinion. If your daughter grows up and she decides she doesn’t want them, all she has to do is take the earrings out. Problem solved!

You should wait til she’s old enough to choose to do it or not cuz your baby may be allergic to the earrings

I chose to get mine pierced at age 5, I don’t believe in piercings a baby’s ears until they’re old enough to ask for it. I’m expecting my second child, a girl, and will wait until if/when she askes to get it done. If you’re still persistent on getting it done please go to a licensed piercer where they’ll use a hollow needle, it’s a lot safer than going to Claire’s or Walmart or wherever.

My pediatrician said 3… That way the ears won’t grow funny. My daughter is a girly girl and she wanted to wear ear rings like mommy and Mimi, so since she asked multiple times I let her get her ears pierced after she turned 3.

I got my daughters done at 6 weeks. I went to piercing pagoda and they were amazing! I called multiple tattoo shops and I got laughed at by half of them.

Back when my girls were babies , the woman would all gather and with ice and a sterile needle at home. usually around 2 months old. They all still have both ears.

I think they have to be 3 months I’m not sure, that’s when I got my daughters done

Your baby …your choice. I pierced my baby’s ear at one month…hardly cried. She’s 3 and loves her earrings…no regrets here

Why dont you wait until she says she would like to get them done? maybe she wont want them pierced>?

4 mos old, pediatricians office or tattoo shop is probably the most sterile.

She didnt ask if you AGREED with her… Just saying :person_facepalming:t2::person_facepalming:t2:

The absolute soonest it can be done is 2 months, they need to have some kind of immune system and that’s when they get their first shots.

I had my daughters ears pierced at 2 months old. She is 10 now and glad I did it when she was a baby because she can choose to not wear earrings without having to worry about the holes growing up

Edit to add you should definitely go to a professional and not someonewho uses a piercing gun

13 when she can actually take care of her piercings.

Everywhere is different and alot of places do 6 months

My baby is 3 months and half when I got her pierced xx

Ask your pediatrician. Most pediatrician office pierce ears.

1 month the sooner the better

I used to pierce ears and they have to be at least 6 weeks…and have their 6 week shots

We do them after 6 month shots. Call to your local tattoo shops (that are actually good sterile places that know what they’re doing) and see what the lowest age they’re willing to work with is. You could even get one side done and go back a couple days after and get the other one done. If no local tattoo shops pierce infants, wait until she’s 5. Piercing guns are NOWHERE near safe, nor sanitary and should 120% be illegal.

I waited til my daughter asked for it. She just asked recently! She was five yo.

After their first round of shots. So 6-8 weeks. If you can, a tattoo/piercing shop is the best place but sometimes its hard to find somewhere.

Lord, you “new age” mommas are something else. So many of us had our ears pierced as babies and we’re happy, healthy and emotionally stable…this new “consent” shit is gonna have a lot of kids fucked up before they even hit toddlerhood

I had My daughter’s done at like a month old, 2nd Holes at 2 and she had triple periced at 6, she loved them, now she’s 25 and never wears any earrings lol

Ya’ll are acting like this mama wants to give her baby some lip filler and a nose job, LORD🤦🏼‍♀️ To each their own!!! She asked recommended age, not to be crucified for an ear piercing!

My mom did mine at 2months old. Absolutely loved that I didnt have to suffer through it when I got older

Its up to you as the parent. But you have to clean them as instructed. Actually watched a video, of a guy at a tattoo parlor who refused to do it because it is much easier for them to get infected due to them putting their hands in their mouths and pulling at their ears. So I would suggest after teething is over with. Due to during teething they do chew on their hands and pull at ears

Some do it at 6-8months. Some prefer to do it after they turn 1.

I did mine at 7mo  she’s turning two in two weeks and she’s gorgeous and I love them LOL as a baby I feel like it’s better they don’t mess with them so less chance of infection and mine didn’t cry at all

My daughter was 8 months old didn’t phase her at all

Personally I would wait until she asks for them. It is cosmetic and it should be her decision

Usually after the 2m shots you can get the okay from your doctor. Some pediatricians also do ear piercings in office! That’d be your best bet, honestly.

We got our 1st daughter’s done at 3m, & will be doing the same with this girl. No regrets.

I did mine at 4 months at a tattoo shop

I say it is up to you momma. I have heard that if you get them to young the hole could be in the wrong place once they get older, I have also heard of people having a lot of issues but I know babies that got them really young and have never had a problem and now that they are older the ratings look good. I have a 4year old and 9month old, I will definitely be letting them choice if they want to get their ears done or not, their body so their choice.

My daughter got hers done after she turned 3. She asked to get earrings. Less of a screaming reaction as well. They didn’t become infected because she never touched her ears and they got cleaned regularly.

I got my girls ears pierced at 3 months

I have 4 girls and got all their ears pierced at 6 months. They never had an issue and love their earrings.

We got my daughters around 2-3 months and it was fine. She actually was young enough that she didn’t mess with them at all. She’s never messed with them and she’s 5 now.

I personally got mine pierced when I was 2-3 years old, I was old enough to want them to be done and young enough to not remember the pain!

My daughter got hers done at 6 weeks. She didn’t cry nor pick at them. I’m glad I did it then because she doesn’t remember. And she still wears earrings to this day. She’s 13 now.
