Parents don’t like to have conversations with their kids about the changes they will be going thru as they get older so they get mad because Disney made a movie about it which I guess is taboo…being Disney is supposed to be wholesome or something…which they never have been. I mean come on…101 Dalmatians is about kidnapping puppies to skin them for a fur coat. Snow white is about a vain stepmom who offs her hubby and sends her step kid out in the woods with a killer to rip her heart out.
It is rated PG…Parental Guidance…that should suggest there will be content that requires a parent to review to see if it is acceptable for younger kids.
I grew up with Judy Blume and movies like Little Darlings…Turning Red is mild. It isn’t anything new for kids to be rebellious or be boy crazy or get periods.

It’s my 7yo boy favourite movie. Has helped my 10yo daughter not to feel weird with her tweeny years ahead… it’s normal kids behaving themselves. Not something airy fairy bs.
I have watched it with my son (6) and daughter (10) theres nothing bad about it at all.

My family loved it! Everyone will have an opinion.
My kids are 3(x2) and 5 and love it
My 2 year old son has had it on repeat for over a week people are redonk my husbands boss won’t let his son watch it cause the way the girls go lala/Gaga over boys and the period thing which is sad cause either one is normal I loved it my 14 year old son thought it was cool depends on the parents I say and a 4 month old wouldn’t understand it regardless
It’s a great movie. Littles won’t fully grasp the coming of age movie. There’s nothing wrong with this…my 5 year old and 17 year old boys both love it!!!

There’s nothing wrong with it, people are just getting irrate about teens having crushes and talking openly about periods

I think it touches on periods alittle for 10/11 plus year olds but mostly it’s about controlling your emotions and reactions to others emotionally, growing up and being respectful to yourself and others. I think it was brilliantly done for all ages my 2 yo loves it.

Talks about periods…wow its a natural thing
There nothing wrong with them film I watched it… if anyone finds that film disturbing there’s something wrong with you… its natural and young girls who are just starting should realise not to be disturbed about the things that go on in there own body. It’s a great film I wish it was around when I first started

It’s literally about a girl turning 13 and being ALL about her parents because kids usually are up until that point. Then she has things like friends , boys & a band she is interested in more than just her parents/family & she struggles with it. Because of an incident where she gets embarrassed by her mother, her family’s blessing/curse emerges & she turns into a red panda. There is a history & ancestral thing with why folks in her family turn into a red panda. But basically everytime she gets excited/overly emotional, she turns into this red panda & has to either accept it/end the curse with her family’s help or keep it, as it is part of her.
There is one point where thr main character freaks out over initially turning into the red panda prior to anyone knowing & her mother thinks she’s hiding because she got her period & offers her pads, a hot bottle etc. It isn’t inappropriate in my opinion in any way. Having a period & the reasons/hygiene should be normalized. We watched it with our almost 3 year old & he loved it. & if he was older & asked, we’d explain (obviously in a kid friendly way). People just want something to boycott because they think they are standing up for something they believe in. Go for it, but at the end of thr day, this is a kid’s movie.

You’re not letting a 4 month old watch because of the reviews? You afraid he’s going to tell everyone else at day care about it??
Literally zero wrong with it

Bc god forbid a movie touches on real subjects about coming of age. Women have periods, everyone develops crushes and relationships, people have diabetes and disabilities. It’s literally the first movie I’ve ever seen that actually touches on these subjects in a way that a coming of age child needs and is appropriate.
Talking about periods and crushes/relationships and disabilities and health issues is SO taboo it’s sad.

I think ppl dislike the movie because they go into it thinking it’s a movie for children when actually it’s a movie for pre-teens.
I know I had that mindset and at first I was clutching my pearls! But quickly realized “Oh this is is for pre-teens! Proceed!”
E.T.A. Also the fact that it talks about periods, hormones, crushes, rebellious behavior, you know PRE-TEEN/TEENAGE stuff. Ppl don’t want their kid learning about that in a movie but tbh and imo that convo should start pretty early depending on your child’s maturity

I thought it was eh. Didn’t see any issues with the movie like everyone’s screaming about but I wasn’t very impressed with the movie the panda is cute. I don’t think your four month old will have an opinion though

It’s not the core the message of the movie that bothers people. The extra stuff thrown in like sneaking out, teaching kids rebellion, and masturbating is over the top for a Disney movie. These are things parents need to talk to their kids about not let a movie production company influence.

Its talks about periods at the beginning only a little though and frankly it opened a dialog with my 11 yr old that needed to be talked about but wasnt sure how to bring it up she is my only girl I have 3 boys otherwise

The fuss is people assume all Disney movies are targeted to small children and they’re not. Most of the people complaining didn’t look at the rating or bother realizing it’s not on the kids profiles for a reason. Its a coming of age movie. Now, my young ones still enjoy it and the puberty stuff went right over their heads. For my 11 year old daughter who started her period at 9 and has struggled with emotional regulation this movie has been everything! She watched it quite a bit and it makes her feel good to know that her “irrational” behavior (hormones) happens to us all. She’s not alone.

I thought the movie was great. And had real life things to it. Nothing wrong with kids knowing about having a period. Some start sooner than others.

The movie was great and nothing wrong with it. People refuse to acknowledge that teenage girls have crushes and desires, the same that boys at the same age do. There is nothing wrong with periods, kids becoming their own person, etc. The whole point of having children is learning to let go as they grow and to help them along the way to make a functioning human being. Parents need to understand maturity and learn what is appropriate at different ages, but also need to have uncomfortable conversations about things so they can learn.

My 3 year old daughter & 4 year old niece love the movie! Nothing wrong with it! If you’re really worried then watch the movie for yourself before you play it for your child & decide if you want them to watch it or not.

My 5 and 9 year old girls love it. Even my youngest understands what periods are and why they happen. We are very open in our family and I think it’s good for them not to feel ashamed about things that are a part of growing up.

It shows demonic views and rebellion against parents in a very bad way! I canceled Disney they have gone to the wrong side of evil.

Most of the complaints seem to range around the mother shown carrying a box of pads and tampons. Seems many are embarrassed or ill informed.

I had the same thought, ‘if it’s really that bad, not sure I wanna watch it, or let my kid’… until a friend of mine said she had already watched it and said it was a really cute movie. So I gave it a chance, and it really was a good movie! The whole scene that people had an issue with lasted like 20 seconds in the whole movie. The mom was carrying pads and tampons because she thought her prepubescent daughter got her period. ‘Oh my god, how dare they show LIFE in a Disney film- they should be canceled!!’ People need to get over themselves. Their daughters are going to go through it, and their sons could possibly end up in relationships with women, who-OMG, GET A PERIOD EVERY MONTH, shocking I know!

People are afraid to talk about periods lol my daughter loved it and I think it’s extremely educational in a fun way. You should absolutely add it to a list of movies to watch. Boys should understand what woman go through for a compassion perspective, so many like one dude on this post are entirely clueless. My husband is one of the few that takes a moment to listen and understand. Heck, he buys my tampons without me present at the store, it teaches us to stop stigmatizing what naturally happens to a woman and how to embrace it.

Lmao. But does it really HURT them?? Cause my 9 year old is super smart, self regulating, perfectly normal above average kiddo… she started on Disney junior and has always had devices and TV freedom… badmomdotcom for the win!! Bahahaha
I thought it was pretty good actually,
ive watched it and i liked it and thought it was pretty good.
Great movie! We’re making this a movie night for the weekend.
It’s not bad it’s just about a girl that hits puberty and has to learn to control her emotions. When she gets too angry or upset she turns into a giant red panda. I love the movie and it came out just in time. My youngest sister just hit that puberty stage.

It is a really cute movie. My son is 20 and watched it. He loves Disney movies. Getting a period is a part of life for women. Life isn’t a fairy tale like we all wished it was
