Why would a toddler hate wearing socks?

what would be the reason a toddler cannot stand wearing socks? I dont like him wearing shoes without socks because they start to stink but he cannot stand them the second they get on his feet…is there anything I can do??

Its generally a sensory thing, find socks that don’t have the seams around the toe and heel.

My little hates socks and will rip them off when they have seams and theyre not sitting exactly perfectly.

None of mine have liked socks when they were toddlers.
I Make sure they aren’t too tight or constricted around the toes

Try putting them on inside out. Sometimes the seam irritates them. It could also be a sensory thing

I’m 65 and I dont wear socks to this day. You can never tell.

I hate the feel of certain types of socks, always have. I remember being young and from moving around a lot my feet got really hot and I preferred the short socks, and if it was cold I rather long socks up to my knees bc I could not stand the feeling of anything resting above my ankles. the way they feel matters too. too thick is not cozy anywhere lol

Sensory overload. Has he got other issues with clothes or behaviors?

Mine didn’t like socks then at that age and now older and still don’t like them

I’m 38 and have never worn socks. I don’t like the feeling. My aunt who is 58 has never worn socks. It’s not a big deal don’t make it one. Don’t force the kid into doing something they don’t like

When my kids were toddlers, it was a struggle to keep pants on, let alone socks. They like to be contrary and dislike what we want for them. This logic also applies to teenagers.

Sensory issues. Try bombas socks. Those were the only ones that my son would wear for a while.

Maybe get fabric shies that are washable to avoid stink, or see if the sift, fuzzy bed socks might feel better to him. Or see if you can fund seamless socks.

But pretty much all toddlers don’t like clothes much and will take socks and everything else off given the chance.

Probably sensory. Get some with zero seams and try that or size up as well. My kid has always hated socks I’m talking kicking and screaming if he had to wear a pair he hated. It’s sensory. Drives me crazy to this day at 13 but he wears socks that are too big guess he doesn’t like the tightness idk you’ll just have to trial different ones till you find a type that work

It might be the seams. Get seamless socks.

Turn the socks inside out or buy seamless.

Socks with no seams or turn them inside out

Mine won’t wear socks or shoes. I also hate socks and shoes. I don’t blame him :rofl:

Socks are terrible. Buy them some crocs and pick your battles lol

Turn them wrong side out if there any seams.

My grand daughter strips as fast as u dress her. I pray she out grows it soon. She’s 4.

Because. Naked feels better.

Turn them inside out and see if that helps. My boys hated socks and still turn them inside out because of sensory issues with the seam.

Sensory. Take him shopping and see if he can pick a pair he likes the feel of. More often than not my daughter was in sandals for the same reason, hated most fabric feels.
