Yep. Anything you were arrested for comes up. Forever.
Just be upfront in your interview about it.
Yep it’s part of your background. Especially bodily injury.
Just be honest. You will find a job even with it on there
Yes. Any arrest. Felony or misdemeanor.
Depends how long it has been
You won’t know if you don’t try!
For the rest of y’all - an arrest is not a conviction . It’s convictions that count against you because there are actually people who are arrested but not guilty of what they were arrested for …. Can’t use a arrest against you since these are some people who are arrested yet innocent only convictions in a court of law BUT some companies won’t hire you with a pending arrest that hasn’t been resolved yet because they don’t know what the outcome will be till it is
You fail to mention if you were convicted in court
yes only convictions
Most jobs look for more serious crimes anyways
Did you go to court? Was there a verdict? If you were convicted, it will show. It may show if you weren’t convicted as a charge that was nolle processed or not guilty.
It probably wont. Ive been a general manager & when I would run background checks, the only things we checked were to make sure you werent a sex offender & make sure you had a clean dmv record if you were going to be a driver. If its a management position, you couldnt have any felonies in the last 7 years. Most places Ive managed are like that, they dont really care about arrests, just make sure your not a pedophile & not have like 30 speeding tickets if your a driver for a company. you should be fine, especially right now, companies are so desperate for help bc noone really wants to work, they will damn near hire anyone. Also, theres alot of companies that want to hire convicts, like a second chance business to give newly released convicts a second chance in todays world. If you google it you should find alot of companies that do that.
Explain, explain, explain…an explanation means the world. Yes, depending on the state, it will show up.
Yes. It will show up.
Yes it will, here is GA it does.
I was arrested a little over 2 year’s ago. I was on the run for 3 month’s. With my boyfriend at the time. I got a bunch of retail thefts, and some other charges for robbing 2 laundry mats. First time I was ever in trouble in my life. Now this is a little different than your situation. I went to jail when we were finally caught. Until I got sentenced. I had 4 different cases. That is definitely on my record. But, my point is, I have a job. And I was offered other job’s as well. Since this happened. So even if it is on your record, you can still get job’s. But I know, it would be easier if it wasn’t at all! But it’s definitely possible for you, if it’s possible for me!
If you’re looking for work in the medical field it will go against you. I say the same if you are applying in any type of position in schools. They both look a little bit harder at your background checks than say a dept. store. or factory. Best to check on it 1st and be honest on the application and interview.
Yes, weather you went to jail or not. If someone signed a complaint against you it doesn’t go away. But by stated what happened, if needed, you will be fine. Especially. If finger prints are involved
If you are arrested,it will show up.
Yes. Any and all arrest and charges especially felony, will show up. Convicted or not, it will show up.
Only if you are convicted
Yes it will but be honest about it. Lots of place only look for drug arrest or stealing. Unless you are getting a driving job, then they look for dui also.
There is more to this story that’s not being told
Absolutely, depending on the type of background check. Arrests are public record unless it’s been sealed or expunged. (Former hiring manager here)
Go to your local police department and have them run a criminal background.
Yes. However, you can pay to have it removed.
Only if convicted. If you were just charged and released no.
if you have a job that requires a state or federal license or clearance, the arrest may affect your job or future application for such a job
No conviction, no record.
I was arrested for fighting in a bar when I was 26, she dropped the charges and I was bailed out the next day…its never shown up on any of my background checks.
Explained n what happened
I work in background investigations. Yes, it will show up regardless of being charged vs convicted. You did jail time therefore, it was a form of charged punishment. As long as you’re completely honest and offer the information up front, you will be fine and will more than likely be hired. Do not lie about anything because most places of employment that require background investigations pride themselves on integrity. Pay very close attention to how the questions are worded because they can trick you. It also very much depends on the job. There are certain amounts of years (ex. 10 years) that you don’t necessarily need to admit to if the charges fall outside of that time frame. If it was a felony, you must always admit to it though.
No,hurry up and get a job before it’s on your record
Any arrest will come out on your record
Employers these days just want a body to hire…
Hold up!
Why tf would you get arrested for pepper spraying a group of people attacking you?
I had a druggie attack me but the neighbors didn’t start recording until I elbowed her off me. I was arrested but no charges were filed. They told me it wouldn’t show up.
Yup sure does. Even traffic violations show up.
You can still be hired from anyone that wants to hire you. And with the way things are right now, your chances are good.
Just wanna say congrats - boss ass for you to do that, i would do the same
Next just be upfront about it, some employers dont care as long as your not a murderer ya know?
Alot of places don’t care unless u have a felony
Felons find Jon’s daily. Please dont use this as an excuse of “why u can’t get a job” I have lots of charges and have a good paying job with great benefits
Depends on what the job is looking for in their background check.
You should absolutely still try:heavy_heart_exclamation:
I don’t think an arrest will, you have to be charged and convinced of a crime for it to show up on your record.
Best bet is to just be honest and upfront about it. If you don’t mention it and it comes back on a background check, that to me looks worse. Let them get your side of the story first.
Pretty crazy that one offense could prevent you from the necessities of life - A JOB. Our criminal system needs reform. Since when can a person not defend themself.
id be upfront and let them know the circumstances. I’ve sent backgrounds through for people who were honest with records, an those who were dishonest… 9/10 those who were honest were approved more than those who ommited arrests/ charges were dined .better be safe than sorry, esp in a case like yours.
Was adjudification withheld? Sometimes the judge will do this to help prevent a permanent mark on your record. If not and you were convicted then it will show up, but if not convicted and it has been resolved(done going to court over it) then you should be fine. If it does show up you can pay to have something removed from your record but it is COSTLY. Either way you won’t know until you try and you cont let that hold you back from a good job.
Yes it will show up. What kind of job are u going for? If it’s a security job make sure u tell them about it!!! If u tell them and explain the situation you have a good chance of getting it but DO NOT lie. I had a charge (has since been dropped) but I work security at a nuclear plant and they do fbi and sled background checks.
Yes it will show & a lot of applications that I’ve done ask if ever convicted of a felony or arrested for a crime. Be honest-and there is nothing to be scared about atleast applying for a job you have a chance-not applying you have no chance so what is there to lose
Most jobs if you explain wha happened are okay as I worked in a care home one of my fellow workers had assult on hers wouldnt expect her to be aloud to work in a care home but her partner used to beat her she fought back and he pressed charges against her I’m sure if you explain the situation from the get go then they will understand, good luck mamma xx
Probably depends on the job. When I worked in restaurants something minor they would usually let you explain and decide after that
If you haven’t been convicted you can legally answer “no” to the question. You should look into sealing your arrest
Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy…felony? Answer accordingly and it depends on the company
Run a background check on yourself and see
The arrest doesn’t matter.
Whats matters is the charge whether it a felony or a misdemeanor.
Just cause you got arrested doesn’t mean you have a criminal histort.
What you need to worry about is the whether you going to take a plea deal offered by the DA, plead guilty and go to court, or get your attorney to get it dismissed.
Plea deals are just as bad as going to court but lesser jail time if guilty.
Dismissed means just that will still show up but no conviction.
Which means can get it expunged.
If in self defense and can prove that beyond a reasonable doubt then go that route.
Different convictions mean certain jobs will automatically be a NO.
You were not convicted you can get it expunged contact the clerks.
Of course it will show up.
YES! Disclose everything.
It depends where and what your applying for. Most large franchises only deny you if you have violent felonies or sexual assults. If its working with children, though, there may be a few more that would make you fail a background check. Alot of the big businesses use companies to do a background check and its basically a pass or fail thing. If you fail, theyll tell them why but usually if you pass alot of times thats all they see is that you passed. Ive been a hiring manager at alot of big businesses and most people with felonies pass as long as its not a certain level of violent felony or sexual. You can usually look up google what the company will accept. Im not sure on the commodious that do their own checks though.
It depends what kind of background check they do and how far back they go. Some places only do a general or state check going back 7 years. Others do a lifetime/federal check and it will find anything and everything in the criminal system.
If you convicted it will unfortunately show up… My advice when applying to a job be up front about it! I’m in recruitment and we to a point can over look some things if we have complete honesty
