Can car ealers repo your car after one missed payment?? I am going to be behind this month because I was laid off and I am freakin out…I am a single mother and cannot lose my car?..
Call them and talk to them…they will work with you…
Depends on the finance company and your payment history. Best thing you can do is call them asap and be honest so they can work with you.
Call cuz if payment thru dealership bank they used yo let u skip a payment once a year
Call the finance company it’s through and ask for a payment deferral. Some will do two payments and it gets added to the end of the loan . U can do it once or twice a year depending on the company.
Yes they can but if you call them and tell them the situation they will most likely try and help you.
Best suggestion is to call and talk to them. When I got laid off, I was only a few payments away from paying it off (which I had intended to do with my severance package). However, I was going to be late on the next payment by 3 weeks because of the timing of that severance. I had a small late fee to pay, but that was it.
You need to call them and talk to them and explain what’s going on.
Will fully depend on your re payment history, if it’s your first missed payment then they won’t take your car, however having a chat to them letting them know on your current situation will be more beneficial for you
Not if you contact them and explain that there’s a problem. If you can pay anything it won’t be a missed payment - just a wrong amount paid which is a whole load of different admin. So if it’s supposed to be $100 and you pay $10, the system will often not see a missed payment because you’ve made one. I can’t make promises but often by the time this gets picked up by a human and you get a letter about it you should then hopefully be able to pay the missing amount. Do check your paperwork though as some say payment is due in full if you don’t make the monthly payment in full each month - in which case you’ll need to contact them and beg.
Yes they can. Your best bet is to call them.
Call and talk to them, they will most likely ask if you can pay something on it even if it’s a small amount. I’m 1 month ahead and we have no idea how so you could even see if you are a month ahead and see if they can take that out
Call them and talk to them my 1st car loan had a skip a payment option for 3 times where you could skip the payment and it would be added to the end
Depends on them. I’ve missed 3 monthly payments with a company and not been repoed, however now I pay bi weekly and just got a repo after one missed payment I was shocked that they did it
Communication will make a difference Most of the time.
There is a whole process before it goes into reprocessing mode. You’ll get letters first saying you’re past due, then a month after that you may get one that says it’ll be sent to collections. Then after that it may be sent to either repo mode or threaten to take the money from your pay check. In my experience, it takes months and months. I consigned for my nephew and he hasn’t made a payment in 6 months. Just this month it is finally in repo mode. But no attempt of them coming to get the car yet. But yea that’s just my experience but I can say it’s very very unlikely they would even start that paperwork after one month of no payment.
You can defer a payment ; i never knew it and after 1 month missed they did come repo my car i was young and dumb and didnt know how to go about things
Is better to talk to them
No. Not over one payment. I never did. I know someone who is behind more than 1 payment and they haven’t taken their vehicle yet. As long as you call and explain to the company they will work with you.
It very well could be, call them and tell them the situation they will work with you.
We’ve had a lot of financial issues this year because my husband was laid off and we live in a really rural area so it was hard for him to get a job for a little bit and I had just had a baby. We got notice after two missed car payments that they would take the car if we didn’t pay by the end of the month. My husband called them and they renegotiated our payments for a few months. We still have our car thankfully.
They’ll repo if your payment is even short just a little. You should call your lender and see if they can give you some wiggle room
Not if you call them and make arrangements !!!
You gotta call and talk to them. For the most part they want your money, not the car back, so they are willing to work with a lot of people a lot of the time as long as you are proactive and upfront and communicate with them about the situation.
It wouldn’t be the dealer ship it would be the financial
Institution that financed your loan. Your best bet is to just call the bank and explain the situation they are more willing to work with people
That communicate with them instead of avoiding them.
I missed two thanks to my ex not paying. I didn’t get the car repoed. Just paid the two payments
Please call them. This happened to me and I was paying what I could every month for 3 months. Walked outside to take my 6 year old to school one morning and my car wasn’t there. Full on meltdown right in the parking lot. Called my ex husband and he took her to school that day and helped me get it back.
Call and talk to them. Most places will work with you as long as you keep in communication with them.
Make arrangements with them before that happens
My cars contract says if I do not pay the rego, insurance and or my fortnightly payments they can repo my car as it’s classed as a breach from me. I’ve missed a payment once and called and explained and they were very understanding and just chucked it as my final payment to come out
Definitely call them, if you don’t they will likely think they aren’t being payed and have it repoed
MOST lenders won’t take any action unless it’s over 30 days late. Yet I’ve seen people who were over 90 days late and still have their vehicle. Communication is key.
Usually it’s 1-2 payments but I would call them because most will let you defer a payment (interest still accrues).
