Nothing wrong with it what so ever x
So he’s basically eating toast? If he’s eating everything else in his lunch, what’s the problem?
I used to have plain sandwiches as a child, I don’t think it’s a massive no no, but I guess ye can get low fat versions etc
No big deal, a long as he is eating. No difference in eating toast with butter.
Add sprinkles for fairy bread! If you know you know lol
It’s literally no different than eating two pieces of toast for breakfast.
We used to get bread and butter at meals at school, I see nothing wrong with it. As long as he’s getting other food too
Does your husband only eat and drink water and celery??? It’s just toast untoasted.
Fed is best ! As long as the kid is eating something then take what you can until the next phase.
I ate miracle whip a.d butter daily for years…I told my grandma I wanted a sandwich without meat…guess I didn’t like her lunch meat
It’s like eating toast. You keep being the best mommy possible.
I used to give my daughter a roll and butter when she was little. We’d go to get something for lunch and that’s all she’d ask for, I used to get funny looks and people would tell me that’s not enough and I needed to put something else in it for her too. You do you and if that’s what he wants then give him it. He’s eating and I bet he’s happy and healthy so that’s all that matters.
As long as he’s eating why does it matter. Nothing wrong with bread and butter.
My kid used to eat sandwiches with hand a jelly, the cheapest ham.you can find and jelly it was weird but he got over it and hasn’t ate them.in years, me personally it’s not a big deal
My brother only ate bread/butter/sugar sandwiches
He’s a big, strong (weird) adult now.
my youngest eats bread with mayo…sometimes he’ll let me put a oiece if cheese on it too… nothing wrong with it at all
Use plant based spread as it has extras I. It but If he’s having other healthy stuff and eating ok at home for breakfast and tea, maybe cereal suppers, which are mostly with added whatnots, then that’s fine
Atleast he’s not eating just straight butter. My sister used to eat it from the tub with a spoon!
When we whined we were hungry our grandmother offered bread and butter. If we didn’t want it we weren’t that hungry. All us cousins survived. Doesn’t seem like a big deal.
Know several kids who eat very strangly and grow up to eat very well.
I would say as long as he is eating other healthy balanced food too then give it to him, pick your battles with your kids I say, is it worth the struggle the tantrums, no, he may eventually get sick of eating that and want something else.
Nothing wrong with it butter bread is fine my son used to eat mayo bread
My kid used to eat ketchup sandwiches.
It’s like a buttered pice of bread with dinner❤️
My chemistry teacher told me margarine is the worst thing you can put in your body. But this was 20 years ago, I’m sure there are more worse things invented by now. Although, that statement always stuck with me and I always buy butter.
My son wants pickle sandwiches and he eats them proudly in the school cafeteria
" If the only thing a child will eat, is a cookie. Let the child eat a cookie. " - my family doctor when it came to my second son. He refused to eat anything and eat absolutely nothing unless it was junk food. So i just found a way to give him his nutrients through his juice ( made smoothies and veggie/fruit juices ) of course I’d offer him something healthy and it was always an option but he just refused and throw tantrums and bite if that was his only option. So my doctor said if it’s the only thing he’ll eat, give it to him.
I’d see about if you can put a new healthy food in his lunch for him to try everyday but other than that, give him unsalted butter instead of margarine. It’s a bit better than the oil in margarine
Tell him not to worry he. Is getting his healthy foods he is fine it is cute tho
I used to eat butter out of the tub when I was younger I think my 11 year old sister still eats mustard sandwiches sometimes
My daughter sometimes eats sandwiches with shredded Cheese and ranch as long as you aren’t layering it on thick like peanut butter and he is eating the fruits and veggies too I don’t see anything wrong with it.
My suggestion would be a daily vitamin (kids multivitamin) if you are worried. And honestly the bread and butter sandwich is healthier than an iceberg lettuce wedge “salad”. WIC doesn’t allow iceberg lettuce but pays for a loaf of bread…when I asked why, I was told there is little to no nutritional value in iceberg lettuce.
I mean who don’t eat buttered bread? Especially if you from the country
If you think about it, it’s about equivalent to making toast so I don’t see the problem, they all go through stuff like that
If he’s eating normal and just randomly wants margarine sandwich that’s fine but if that’s the only thing he’s eating I’d be worried too. But if that’s his little treat I wouldn’t mind
My 10 year old loves mayo sandwiches if that’s what he prefers than so be it eat it as long as your child is eating it shouldn’t matter. My 10 year old eats everything you can think of so I don’t care if he wants may sandwiches
My kid loves ketchup and Doriote sandwiches
It’s the same as eating toast… I personally don’t see the big deal ad long as it’s not like a ton of margarine on it
I had a depression Era grandma who would make me butter and jelly sandwiches. It was a survival deal and wic and my sons pediatrician recommended it as a way to add healthy fats to his diet.
Margarine is one molecule from being plastic…I suggest trying to see if he will eat butter instead.
nope. mine wanted cheese and peanut butter sandwich lol so…thays what she got
I lived off of mayo/butter sandwiches…. I’m 32 and alive and well, the only thing sucking the life out of me are my 4 kids
My kid is on a Smuckers uncrustable kick. Her pediatrician just said as long as you get fruit/veg in too don’t worry, she’ll probably change it up in a week anyway lol
I don’t know much about margarine, but I ate bread and butter sandwiches.
I mean, you’re right it’s not the greatest, but he’s eating… I feel for you, I can’t get my 6 year old to even eat bread. It’s very frustrating and not always worth the fight. Maybe not every day with the margarine sandwich? Does he like gogurt?
Your husband would really have a fit if he seen my kid. He will legit eat a stick of butter from the fridge
My only concern is the margarine. It’s only one ingredient away from being plastic. I’d switch to butter.
That’s called butter bread where I come from and I use 2 eat the same thing…still do some times
I use to eat butter straight out of the packets at restaurants and sometimes at home let the boy go through his phases every child does
As long as he is eating other things I think it’s fine. My son ate french fries and nuggets for 3 months straight. He is 27 years old now.
Put butter and jelly he would love it
My youngest daughter is 6. She has been making peanutbutter, mayonnaise and mustard sandwiches and likes it with bologna too
My parents ate bread and butter or margerine with every meal. Whhen I was little a bread and butter sandwich with a cup of raisins was a snack my mom made me often. He is ok
Children are like tiny adults when it comes to food… They go through cravings like we do… No need to fuss
I’m sure it’s just a phase, as long as he’s getting the good veggies and fruits it’s fine, like the saying goes ‘pick ur battles wisely’…
I give my kids vitamins each dau my youngest at 6 has always been difficult to feed he will like something 1 week then not the next then 3 months later like ot agian hes diet is mostly cheerios, choclate spread sandwich, lemon cakes and chicken nuggets at the momen, im just happy hes eating cause some days he will starve himself as he had decided he dosent like any food,
No your good heck my niece would just eat a stick of butter when he was younger and we tried to stop her though but if he has other stuff to go with no biggie. My daughter will eat miracle whip sandwiches. It’s just a weird kick
My son is autistic and for an entire year he would not eat… only thing he would let me give him was pediasure . No fast food nothing he would throw up if you forced him… one day he just snapped out of it… I was so traumatized by this that now any kid around me gets what they want to eat
It’s not really different than buttered toast
Just remember margarine has trans fats which are the bad kind.
I’m 32 and still love bread and butter.
If it’s once a day for lunch it won’t hurt him. If it was 5x a day everyday it would be different.
My mom grew up on lard sandwiches and I used to love just mustard sandwiches
If my husband started yelling at me because I gave my kid buttered bread he would not still be here No it’s not healthy so I would not do it every day but he’s eating. Maybe get whole wheat bread?
My kids pick everything they don’t like off the sandwich any way so why not save yourself a step and less waste… wait it out lol
Just go with it, it won’t last forever. My 10 year old ate ketchup sandwiches daily for like 2 years. Finally outgrew it
It’s just like toast but not toasted with an extra piece of bread . I have a family member who used to dip sticks of butter in sugar and eat it
If people are so up in arms about Margarine please don’t look into the ingredients of the “American cheese” slices everyone uses on their sandwiches. Or how McDonald’s makes their nuggets, or in the composition of Bologna.
As a mom of very sensory sensitive kids, as well as being a Personal Trainer and Nutritionist, this isn’t much different than the majority of what people are consuming macro for macro at lunch. This is a phase.
Pack some fruit, and get in the veggies and whole protein sources where you can. Your husband is overreacting.
Meh, it’s fine. Kids have their weird phases.
Change it to a butter sandwich. Kids go through phases. Margarine was originally made for cows. They found it is very toxic. So they decided to feed it to people instead. Just switch to butter.
You’re not the only one who does this I give them to my kids and I also enjoy eating them too
I still eat that. My teenagers are picky eaters🙄
So long as he has a proper balance at any other time, what’s the problem? We all eat weird things as snacks or what not. Besides, its essentially toast
Growing up we ate ketchup sandwiches
False. Margarine is not one molecule away from being plastic. https://www.healthyfood.com/advice/fact-or-fiction-margarine-is-one-molecule-away-from-plastic/
Let your kid eat what he wants. If my 2yr old wants to eat 12 applesauces that’s what I’m gonna let her eat. She’s a picky eater sometimes and she’s under weight so I just let her eat what she feels like
Kids go thru phases I think my kid has had a Nutella sammich every day for lunch for the last month. She will change it up eventually.
Replace with plant “butter”
My sister used to eat Mayo sammiches.
And margarine sammich is pretty much cold toast in my opinion and as long as he’s eating his other foods I don’t see it as a big deal. One of my mom in law and mines favorite snack is bread and butter:woman_shrugging:t4:
That’s just toast without being toasted! I would only worry if that was the only thing he ate at every meal!
Just buy the healthiest bread and margarine that you can and don’t worry about it unless your child isnt malnourished than who cares
I was obsessed with butter sandwiches as a child lmfaooo
i mean people put it on their toast and eat it that way. what is the difference?
if it makes you feel better, there was a time i ate ketchup and white bread only
My mom loves ketchup sandwiches
My toddler has been living off of chicken nuggets in the air fryer and yogurt for about 3 months now just go with it
I am an adult who ate them and survived as a child lol
Your hubby would not be happy around here. Lol
Heck, every once in a while I crave ( and eat) a bread and butter sandwich. Sometimes I add some peanut butter.
So he’s eating untoasted toast
Has your son been checked for Autism and sensory processing disorder?
When my kids were young, we ate whatever my kids wanted to eat. Whether it was nasty fish stick or hot dogs. I lived for mine. Live for yours. I’m glad I did because now. They cook for me.
This is litrally the only 'sandwich ’ my youngest son eats , just butter sandwich no filling. He is quite choosy with food but will have the ham or cheese ect separately and the rest of his diet is pretty good. My eldest now a strapping over 6ft tall 15 year was exactly the same and its clearly not done him any harm.
Just butter toast not cooked yet…
As long as he ate some other stuff too…I wouldn’t worry. We gotta chose our battles.
Meh. It’s basically like grilled cheese without the cheese. From your post is sounds like he’s still eating other things, so I would t worry about it. Most fast food isn’t nutritive either but it’s a thriving industry. Moderation is key.
I love butter spread over toasted bread and so does my kids
My daughter went thru a phase eating just butter sandwiches.
My 2yo pretty much lives off of fruit loops, gummy’s, chicken nuggets, pizza & fries. Literally the only things he will definitely eat😅
Yours is fine lmao
It’s not hurting him. Or anyone else. Whoever is telling you different needs to get off it
I’m grown and still love peanut butter and butter sandwiches lol life is short, give him his margarine sandwich
Lmao girl my child ate just the condiments the other night. They go through phases and sometimes it just not worth the fight
Is he overweight? If he is that’s an issue? If he’s not and doesn’t start having issues I see nothing wrong with it. No different than having a grilled cheese. I am a butter addict. Just make sure it’s real butter and not margarine. Margarine is one ingredient away from plastic and is REALLY bad for you.
Margarine is awful for anyone. I’d switch to actual butter
