Are you sending your kids to in person school this year?

Homeschooling, but I was going to anyways, not because of covid.

Mine is going. I am terrified again this year as I was last year but doing online set her back alot and she was failing even tho she had me, her aunt and uncle and one of my friends helping her do her school work and explaining in different ways to try to understand. She is 7 years old now. I will be having my 2nd child on the Monday before school starts here in my area and so lots of drs appointments for myself and all my drs and nurses have been telling her she needs to keep her mask on at all times and to stay away from those who dont have one on and to keep washing her hands. Hopefully she will continue to follow the directions and keep her mask on. With a newborn and family members with health issues its extremely scary, as well as her having heart issues she cant afford to catch it but her cardiologist said she would be fine to go as long as she keeps her mask on.

Yeah of course. I have to go back to work so they need to go to school. No reason they canā€™t do in-person school with proper precautions in place. Online learning was so hard- I really donā€™t want to ever do that again lol.

Mine are going in school, they havenā€™t decided on masks yet. Itā€™s my daughterā€™s senior year and my older sonā€™s is starting middle school.

My 8 year old was in 3rd grade in person all year last year and a ton of the schools around me are taking out the remote learning option this year.

My kids have been in person since last November. So yes theyā€™ll be going in person again this year

No Iā€™m doing distance learning. My husband doesnā€™t have great health and neither does her step mom at her dads house. She doesnā€™t mind lol sheā€™s not super social anyway

Nope . Homeschooling

Remote learning isnā€™t an option here. They have to go in person but my son was in person last year as I have to work.

Virtual academy this year. I can see wry lesson plan from the first day of school to the last. She can work at her on pace fro the most part.

Just as long as the 9 week requirements are done

My daughter is home schooling her son ā€¦kindergartenā€¦ and we are so very thankful she is!

I will, only to allow myself time to learn to drive and then they will be home schooled but if the school hosts jab clinics or forces masks Iā€™ll be pulling my kids out. Schools donā€™t teach much anyways.

Grand daughter not goingā€¦why send them ā€¦some govt officials going to shut it down again ā€¦

Iā€™m sending my older one who is vaccinated and is good with mask wearing and keeping my younger not vaccinated one at home for right now :upside_down_face: Iā€™m lucky weā€™re in a position to do whatā€™s best for each one.

I kept my kids home for over a year and a 1/2 and did virtual but this year the schools took away the option and I mentally and physically canā€™t handle doing online again. with no mask mandate or anything im nervous.

Yes I am I have one in kindergarten one in second grade and one in eighth grade, I believe that they need the interaction of the other children. And also when they were doing online in the last shutdown third grade suffered significantly. The schools that my children go to have been very adamant about social distancing and keeping clean, each school has a third party cleaning committee come in each weekend in deep clean the schools.

Yes! Iā€™m a little different though as my kids are older. I have a senior in high school and a sophomore in college. They NEED to be in school. My college kid was at home last year and Learned nothing! I spent a lot of money for professors just to hand her assignments and say good luck. So this is their careers we are talking about, they need to be there!

Yes mine have already been in summer school. Ages 5 and 11. My 3 year old has been doing hybrid for a couple months already 2 hours a day 3 times a week

High school son is doing remote learning and grade one son Iā€™m homeschooling

Over half the kids that were in virtual school failed. So definitely my grandkids will be in school

My kids 14,12,11,10 will all be IN school they were home for a year and a half time to go back!

Iā€™m sending them. I sent them last year. They want to go because they donā€™t learn anything digitally. If the schools require masks, I will give my kids the option to go and wear them, or I will homeschool them. My job put in a mask mandate today and I will be quitting.

My kiddo started 7th grade in person 7/21. I need her to have as normal a school year as possible. We understand that ā€œanythingā€ could happen.

Son going into kindergarten. Iā€™m doing virtual learning with him.

Iā€™m in the UK and as a nurse, my daughter has attended school throughout. I needed to be at work, and couldnā€™t work from home. Plus she needed to be at school. Kids in the UK have been back at school since September 2020 and finished for summer holidays in July. Cases are rising again here. We no longer have to wear masks and after the end of August dual vaccinated people that are covid positive donā€™t have to isolate.

It is concerning .

Iā€™m homeschooling my children my son is 4 and my daughter is 5 so heā€™s not old enough for kindergarten yet but Iā€™m going to be teaching kindergarten to him and her
I have a one year old and one on the way so I just donā€™t feel comfortable with sending my others to school yet because of the virus

We donā€™t have a remote option for the fall In NYC. So, Iā€™ll be sending all three of my kids (18 vaccinated,16 vaccinated & 11 unable to be vaccinated) to in person learning in masks. Iā€™m a stay at home parent and will deal with any schol closures (if any) as they come.

Yep! They are going! Iā€™ve been a SAHM for 8 years, with part time jobs here and there. As a Marine Veteran, this momma is beyond ready to get back to a full-time career!

My youngest is off to Kindergarten!

No. I homeschool my children. They will not be sitting in class wearing masks all day.

Nope! But because of the fear of covid or shutdown. Iā€™m keeping mine home so they can freely smile, hug, laugh, play, explore, be outside, and have a positive school experience and spend more time with family. Kids need to be kids!

Mine are all done but I will be back at work at school in a few weeks

Absolutely. My daughter did kindergarten on zoom last year and it was a nightmare. Kids need to be in school IMO

I personally would do online schooling if my daughter was old enough. With cases rising, more variants developing, and people not being safe, itā€™s such a huge risk. People have become so lacked because they are vaccinated when now itā€™s the time to be extra cautious!

We are waiting for the local board decision next monday on if there will be a mask mandate (there was last yr and our school never shut down) if they do mandated, I have all homeschool curriculum already ready to order and start!

I left my 20 year dental career in 2020 to homeschool my daughter, and I will be doing the same this year. This is the better and safer option for OUR family

My son is going in person but heā€™s vaccinated and wearing a mask. If he wasnā€™t vaccinated I wouldā€™ve kept him at home. It basically is whatever feels best to u

Mine are going back to school. We did virtual and it was a nightmare. These kids need school and social life.

Covid is just getting started!

Absolutely, they were in-person all last school year.

Yes. My children were in school last year as well. The hybrid model my district offered last year was full time every other week. There were 2 cohorts that alternated weeks, so all of the staff was back in school full time. By April all children were in full time. It worked out very well for us. Iā€™m looking forward to them actually starting out full time this year.

Yes , my granddaughter needs to be with her friends in person not seeing them on a laptop screen

Yep! They were in person last year! No mask this year!

There is no online classes when i live unless you pull them out of school and home school them. My son has been in school for 2 weeks now and hes doing good.

I am sending them. I am trying to ignore my worries about COVID rn. I would keep them home in a heartbeat, but they want to go back. Iā€™m just trying to have faith.

We did e-learning :desktop_computer: last year, but we donā€™t have an option this year so he is going in person.

I dont even think ours is offering virtual now

Our original plan was for my daughter to return to in person this year but we live in Florida and the Delta variant is hitting hard. I donā€™t want her to lose focus on school because sheā€™s worried. Itā€™s unfortunate because I want her to be around peers her age but she thrived well in virtual school last year and we will be doing that again. We have her brother who is starting kindergarten and I am already homeschooling. He has Down syndrome and a health history,a vulnerable person that we love and want to do schooling in the comfort of our home without the worries and fear surrounding and distracting their learning. Every family is different and I hope every mom feels supported with their choice they make that works best for their familiesā¤ļø

My country didnt really shut down at all only for a month

Yes ! My kids were in person last year too and it was great ! They were going Tuesday-Friday with Monday as elearning. They did have to wear masks and no parents were allowed inside the school. This year will be Monday-Friday without masks.

Yes! They need to be in school around friends, I work at a childrenā€™s hospital and the amount of suicidal ideations/attempts we had last year was outrageous.

Our school decided they wonā€™t give the at home learning as an option like last year. Itā€™s go to school or cyber school :woman_shrugging:

U also have to consider the crap they teachin in school!!
Iā€™ m so happy I donā€™t have school age children anymore!!
If I did - I would definitely home school!!

Yep. My son does much better with in person than online. So if they do shut down at least he gets some in person

My daughter did homeschool last year and has went back to public school this year. They have no mandates for masks here but she wears her mask everyday while at school. Sheā€™s 10th grade btw

Yep. They went in school ALL last year. And summer school. And will this year too.

Thereā€™s only in school option unless you home school your kids.

Online for us. She did better and asked to stay virtual and since we just got over catching Covid I donā€™t feel comfortable sending her back just yet.

I donā€™t think thereā€™s a right or wrong answer.
I think it all depends where in this crazy world you are as to what is best.
Iā€™m in WA, Aus now where there is only the occasional case so my kids are in physical school. But until this time last year we were in Wales, UK where cases are still in the hundreds daily so if we were still living there then no I would be keeping them home.

We went in person last year. This year our district is only allowing all virtual to a certain amount of kids. Particularly kids who have shown that they can handle that kind of learning.

Yes. We were in person last school year.

The high schooler will go in person the middle and elementary will be virtual

Yes and he will be wearing a mask even he is the only one.

Yes, my daughter just started kindergarten

My kids school will only allow virtual if you have special medical circumstances. Other than that, back to class. My son was in prek so he went all year long but my daughter did virtual the whole year. My husband did not want her to go back

Iā€™m not, but they were already in online school for a few years now. Private school was too expensive and public school was out of the question.

I donā€™t have a choice, I work 64 hours a week to pay rent and am in school myselfā€¦
Iā€™d keep her home if I had time to help her cause god knows she needs it. But I provide for 3 generations so :unamused:

Yes I am. My daughter needs the routine and when we lock down she is still allowed at school due to being a vulnerable kid

Mine went back September last year and then full time from the start of the year

i dont know where you are from but in the uk it is a legal requirement no choice

My 8 year old is repeating second grade after failing it the first time. My oldest has gone to 5th. Theyā€™re both doing in person because I believe they need that social interaction and itā€™s good for me because I work as well. The school is taking all precautions necessary to ensure their students safety. Canā€™t put them in a bubble for life.

We will be doing in person school. Iā€™ll have a Senior and hopefully itā€™ll be as normal as possible. We canā€™t get back to ā€œnormalā€ if people arenā€™t willing to trust that their childā€™s school is going to do everything it possibly can to keep your children safe. I live in a small town and I know our school system is all about protecting its students and faculty.

Yep. We sent our kids to in-person last school year too. Itā€™s what is best for them because they do much better in a classroom than at home virtual.

My son asked to stay with homeschool so we will do that as it was actually better for him. Heā€™s 8 and heā€™s loved the flexibility of being at home and I gotta say I love not having to deal with winter school runs which over double our time to get to school

Kids are at very low risk. Send them to school itā€™s not only education that theyā€™re missing on the social aspect does wonders for many children

I taught most of last year online for middle school and it sucked!! If you have middle school aged students please send them back. In class we can at least help them and see that they are taking notes which we canā€™t see when they have their cameras off!

They arenā€™t even offering virtual where Iā€™m at. But even if they were Iā€™d be sending both my kids because they didnā€™t learn shit last year. My son is adhd. He isnā€™t gonna sit and do what he needs to do at home. My daughter is a shitty sleeper. In the middle of a meeting with her teacher she passes out. No thanks! Hi ho hi ho itā€™s off to school they go! whistling

Apparently my whole family went feral during the pandemic, weā€™ve moved into an rv and decided to continue homeschooling so we can travel around. I try to educate myself and the kids on the local culture of every place we visit so I can teach them to appreciate different places.

Traditional in person for us. I rocked virtual last year. I had a great time and my kids excelled academically. However, they missed their friends. They needed mite social interaction than I could provide. Itā€™s scary Right now but I believe itā€™s for the best.

No. We established a good system at home so weā€™re maintaining the good vibes and staying virtual with our county public schools.
Our county canā€™t seem to care enough about one another to get our infection rates down. A couple of parents who attend the local gymnastics establishment have Covid-19 positive children in the hospital so we take this very seriously. Praying we get a better handle on our infection rates. Until then, our bubbles shrink.

We decided on a homeschool through a local charter school. We donā€™t like how the kids are wearing masks. Also, my 7th grader has a medical exemption that apparently is no longer valid. Meaning she isnā€™t able to go to public school

Homeschool was super fun last year (not virtual etc) traditional homeschool. We are still technically on the fenceā€¦ I would LOVE for things to be normal and for my kids to go in person,ā€¦ but they are too young to be vaccinated and thatā€™s not where we are at.
