And people wonder why their kids get bullied? Those are horrible names. Please hand that child over to someone normal when it’s born.

Nothing goes with Pocohatos

How does Pocahontas equal Indian :unamused::unamused: that’s insulting.

What is with people and the way they name their kids :flushed: Apple, bear blue, rupunzel, and now Pocahontas. Come on these are actual people that will some day have to introduce themselves to others, no one wants to go through life being called Apple or the name of a Disney princess.

I would do a normal name with both in case child decides he hates his/her name they can go by middle

Maverick for middle for boy

Geez… You women are brutal!!! Ya…they’re TERRIBLE names, but you don’t need to be SO mean about it.

Beowulf is a legendary Geatish hero in the epic poem named after him, one of … propose that Beowulf is a variant of beado-wulf meaning “war wolf”
Not native American
And for the love over anything don’t name your daughter that

You gotta be kidding ever think how they will be teased

As someone named “Cherokee”… please don’t name your kid Pocahontas.

I’ve decided “Karen” may be a snowflake. She can’t make any decisions on her own.

tbh I dont think you should name your son that at all but I’m not gonna be mean like everyone else just imagine your son going through life like that how will he get a job

You CAN NOT BE SERIOUS!

Hey it’s better than some of the names that are being used. Like a direction or a City name. Why not Dog or tree ? It’s beyond me where they come up with some of these. But to each his own. The kid is going to be the one to pay the piper so to speak.

Please no. Use either name and your child will be bullied nonstop.

Where here to help and be comforting, a lot of you should keep ur opinions to yourselves

Well Indian is middle east. Pocahontas is a Native American name

I would seriously find different names! This world is cruel enough without the child having a messed up name that will get them bullied. Not to mention no one will take them seriously when they are older and looking for a job. If my mom would have chosen a name like that I would have hated her for it and I would have changed it the day I turned 18!!!

Alot of the comments are how I felt when my husband tried to name our son Theseus.

This has got to be a joke… I feel as though we may be being PUNK’D… que Ashton Kutcher

Please don’t name your daughter pocahontas and your son beowolf. There are other native American names you can use that are beautiful and not embarrassing. Disney.com | The official home for all things Disney

Ok she asked for suggestions, if you dont have any skip the post and move on. She and her husband already agreed on these names so obviously she doesn’t need your opinion on that.

Is the baby going to be Native American?

Do your thing momma. I also think Beowulf sounds badass. Elan would be a cute middle name for him- meaning friendly. And I think Aponi sounds cute with Pocahontas. It means butterfly. Good luck!!

Some better Native American names : Sage, Winter, Sky, Bear,

Omg. sounds like settler nonsense but ok :rofl::rofl::woman_facepalming:

My middle name is Gale. Strong Native American name.
Pocahontas Gale

A lot of comments about bullying… how about teach your kids not to be little arseholes. Picking on a kid cause of their name says more about the parents than it does the child. Just gotta read the comments to see where all the hate is learned from.

Please do not name your child either of these names. Ever.

Wtf :joy::rofl: you have got to be kidding right

Personally I wouldn’t touch those names with a barge pole if you don’t want your children to be bullied :woman_shrugging:t2: but it’s up to you

I think you have to keep in mind how cruel kids and people can be!! You don’t want your child growing up being bullied!! So why at birth would you set them up for failure?? I usually keep my mouth shut, but as you can see I’m not the only one. DONT DO IT, YOU WILL RUIN THIS POOR BABY FOR LIFE!!

I think it’s the first names you need help with love! :see_no_evil:

Some of yall are real assholes. You do realize there are native Americans living on THEIR land here. Fking idiots.

My cousins are almost full native and their middle names are Ryder (boy) and Rain (girl) … Just make sure you think about how long that baby has to spend in school w those names… Kids are mean.

Also Pocahontas wasn’t her real name

This group is supposed to be supportive. If you don’t like someone’s life choices, and they aren’t harming anyone, keep your rude comments to yourself.

As for the names, people will say all day that your child is going to get bullied for their name. But they don’t know that. I honestly love people with unique names and think it helps far more than damages them throughout life. I’d be a lot more proud of my name if it was something unique. My sister in law actually changed her name from a basic name to something unique. So if they don’t like their unique name, they can change that too. I saw do whatever makes you and your family happy!

Please don’t name your children that. They will have a horrible time of it.

My boys are
Kele Eli Shea (mixed different regions and religions)
Koda Cameron (mixed as well but we call him bear because that’s what his first name means)
Kai Niko (not mixed but it fits him perfect because he looks like an islander and we loved the names)

This can’t be real:joy::woman_facepalming:t2:

I think a boy or man would rather just introduce himself as Bear than Beowulf. And please don’t go with pocahontas either. Rememeber your child has to introduce him or herself to other people one day. What if they want to be taken seriously in life? Some may say it’s just a name but a name is very important. And weather you think so or not people, important people, will judge him or her on name alone.

Don’t name her that… I was named after a Disney Princess and I got called other Disney Princess names when this one girl bullied me.

I’ve always liked Jade for anyone’s middle name :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Well, to be supportive I believe with interesting first names all children deserve a more traditional middle name to fall back on so for example Pochahantis Jane or Pochahantis Elizabeth and Beowulf Michael or Beowulf Thomas

Are either you or your husband native american ?

I know its not our business but i think its best if you dont name your children like that, they might get bullied in the future just saying.

First off as someone who is Native American ( I am Shoshone), yes the PC term is Native American, but not ALL of us are insulted by the term Indian or really care, so no need to keep correcting the OP over…and over  Secondly she didn’t ask for your opinion on the name, she asked for help on a middle name. My husband had very out there and/or obscure names ( that are actually family names) such as Liberato, when naming our kids, but we changed our mind 50 different times, which maybe the OP might end of doing.

To the OP- If you are going with such a well-known name from someone in history, I would continue to stick with another Native American name running in line with her tribe, versus choosing from various other tribal names or do a very simple name since the first is a very strong one. It’s good to be consistent. With Beowulf, that will be tough for a middle name, but I would keep it very simple. Good luck!

Where will you child go to school? Kids can be cruel. Maybe pick something more subtle? Native names on google maybe? I like Ryder and Sky, Rain something within the native culture. The child has to live with the name…Poca they will call her or Beo for a son will be your son in school. Don’t do that to your child.

How about " smoke on water" for the middle name.
Can use it for girl or boy.
It sounds native af.

    You're welcome

Wow everyone is so concerned about the kid being bullied and yet are the ones bullying before the kid is even officially given the names :woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming: idk what middle names would go with those names and I originally was NOT going to comment because I didnt know but I just wanted to say to the OP do what you want with your kids name, I named my daughter Emberlynn and a lot of people told me that it was a bad idea because it’s too long, it’s too hard to pronounce (literally pronounced ember like embers of a fire and Lynn like the popular middle name) or that other kids would never call her the right name (only found 1 kid so far who hasnt called her the right name and pronounce it correctly!) Also everyone who hears her name likes it and thinks its very pretty! The best advice I can give you to help with middle names is google! Good luck!

Do not name your daughter Pocahontas, Especially if you’re not 100% native. You’re going to set her up for a lifetime of jokes.

She didn’t ask for everyone to judge there pick of first names she asked for help with the middle name. I feel like for a girl a small middle name like sky or river would be enough but I’m not sure about a middle name for a boy but some ppl dont have middle names so you could just leave the middle name out.

Lmao everyone concerned n judgemental over her choice of name  the bullies you talk about the kids running into at school must be your kids your worried about? I dont see these names being something that bad. I was teased briefly in elementary for my name Ariane … And you know what? Kids learn real fast the kid with a diff name gets tired of hearing stupid crap and they stop.

It’s no one else’s business what this woman names her child, she wants help for a middle name not abuse for the names she has chosen

My daughters are Tiga-Lily and Storm

Storm would go lovely with beowolf xxxx

pocahontas nation, pocahontas sky, pocahontas cheyenne, pocahontas scout ,pocahontas summer, tried to help

Oh hunny they are cool names but unfortunately kids are mean and adults as well and they will get made fun of and picked on. As a teacher I have seen it many times and it’s not far but it’s reality but they are awesome names!

What ever happened to women uplifting other women ? For those who are judging this mama on the names she’s deciding to give HER children, that’s right, HER OWN children! I feel sorry for ur kids, ure not setting a very good example on how to be a kind person. Smh

Yeah they are awesome names hands down. But I’ve seen it in person of kids bullying and adults making fun of kids with names like this of either superhero or anything in general. In the end it is y’alls decision. But I just feel they will be made fun of when they get older.

Give the poor kids real names. They have to go through life with those.

Oh the Mom bashing is strong today! Anyways, I did a quick google search of Native American names and I think this one sounds good with the boy name you have picked. There are so many beautiful Native American names out there!

This feels a whole bunch like attention seeking🙄

Love those names  I can’t help with middle names. Id suggest Google and something short each name

So sad about all the assholes bashing on this woman for asking advice you worried about kids making fun of hers then raise your kids to stick up to them there’s so much momshaming in this group that this group has gone down hill I’m so sorry about those comments those are beautiful names I especially love the boy one I like len for boy but cant think of anything for girl sorry I’m gonna leave the group though cause I’m so sick of reading all the momshamers on her

Pocahontas means “little naughty one”. Not sure that would be my first Indian name choice for my baby daughter.

Why is it so hard to just answer the question the OP asked or keep scrolling. Everyone saying “your kid will be bullied”. Obviously its going to be all of your children who are the bullies like yourselves. I was bullied for my name, it’s Amanda, the most common name ever. Mean people are mean regardless. When I picked out my 1st childs name I recieved rude comments, now Im getting rude comments on my 2nd kids name, Evey Camille and Trinity Rae. But guess what, they are MY CHILDREN.

IMO, if it’s a non-mainstream name, maybe a more mainstream middle name?

People are saying “don’t name your child that because they’ll get bullied”… well kids will bully kids for any and every reason , not just for their name :woman_facepalming:t4:
And on top of that, maybe raise your kids to not be little assholes and not bully others…

Name YOUR babies whatever the fuck you want.

Reign would sound great with Beowulf… Or even Pocohauntus Reign…

Amoli means precious. Great, Great grandmother was Cherokee. Her name was Dovie.

These are trying to hard. Me and all my siblings has non traditional names but this is trying hard to be cool kind of instead of unique (which is my name)

I would think how the name translates too especially with native names but example for my son
Killian rian
It’s Gaelic for “Brave” “little king”

Skie girl Cloud for a boy

Go to google and search…

You should pick names that your children can live with for the rest of Their lives, not the rest of yours . I’m not bashing you. Just providing a little perspective here.

Not Grace or Rose. I swear that’s all that exists!

If you’re of native descent, try a family name, like an ancestor’s name. If you aren’t, well that poor kid. Especially since Pocahontas’ true story is a very sad one. I wouldn’t put that on my daughter

I like Skye rain for a girl

Maybe try
Dakota and Bearet
Instead of the other first names you picked out…

I love names that mean something. So Pocohauntus Hula, which means “Playful Eagal” and then Boewulf Raiden which would be “Bear of Thunder and Lightning”
Go with names that want them to grow into. My daughters name means “Active Reflecting in the Face of Great Terror” (her father had a hand in that lol) Good luck momma!! Don’t let other people give you shit ;):kissing_heart::sparkling_heart:

this has got to be a joke lol

Oh lord those poor kids

This child will hate y’all and will be teased his/her entire life. On the other hand , someone had a song out called A Boy Named Sue several years ago. The daddy was in prison and wanted to make the kid strong.

Try a name of an ancestor or something along those lines. I love both of the names you have picked out and I’m sorry a lot of people are being nasty

Knock it off, name the kid something that’s respectful, that child is not your pet. Child has to live with the name you chose good or bad and no funny names.

Don’t do this to your children. Don’t you know how cruel the other kids can be?
