Look at www.medicaidwaiver.org to find a state that has a lower waitlist for services. I find that a lot of people want to move to the Midwest because life is cheaper, however we don’t have the adequate supports for those with disabilities like out on the east coast. It’s unfortunate that all states are not equal with their supports and access.
Ringgold, Ga/ Chattanooga, TN. Erlanger has a Childrens hospital
Primary children’s hospital is amazing in utah
Georgia is so much more affordable and less populated than where I live (Florida), and we’ve been discussing wanting a “slower lifestyle that’s also affordable “, and honestly the Carolina’s are a great consideration. Most up north states are much more expensive. Alabama and Louisiana also have more affordable living
Cincinnati Childrens is amazing. That is in Ohio
DFW, TX
I live here with my heart hero son and he gets SSI also! Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth is the hospital we go to for several specialty doctors and we absolutely LOVE them!!!
Seattle Children’s Hospital in Washington State is a great one. I was a nurse there. Check it out! Good luck

San Antonio and Houston Tx have some of the best medical care in the USA. They are definitely popular city’s but there are smaller cities on the outskirts with less than 30 minutes drive
I can get to both. I would suggest the suburbs of Philadelphia rather than inside the city.
Cincinnati Children’s hospital is where my son goes but I live in Covington,KY. Which is right across the bridge from Cincinnati.
Houston, Tx has Texas childrens hospital. Costco and I’m not sure about the benefits part
Delaware has AI DuPont…and CHOP in Philadelphia is close too.
Riley children’s hospital in Indianapolis. Do some research and find a team of drs that fit your child’s needs. Research area schools. I assure you, we have everything you could possibly want here in central Indiana. Costco on every side of town. Amazing food. Shopping. Museums. Parks. Family friendly events. Pro sports teams. School choice programs.
My boy spent some time it Riley for a small tumor in his left ear. The ear nose and throat team was nothing short of outstanding.
Dalton Ga we have TC Thompson children’s hospital 30mins from us in Chattanooga Tenn. It’s expensive to live anywhere right now.
Baltimore MD, we have University of Md, and of course John’s Hopkins Children Center, people come here from all over the World for the specialists, my Grandson has a disability he has CMT4J, and we also have Kennedy Krueger which helps kids with special needs these places are amazing.
Missouri. Outside of Kansas City.
Do not come to oregon
Toledo Ohio has a great children’s hospital at Toledo hospital. Plus, your kiddo could play in the snow during winter.
Michigan has Helen Devos Childrens Hospital! Great jobs in Grand Rapids too!! We also have Fred and Leena Meijer Heart Center once babe is over 18.
Oklahoma! Not to mention OU Children’s hospital is top notch
Greenville sc children’s shriver hospital
I just got paid $10879 working off my laptop this month. And if you think that’s cool, my divorced friend has twin toddlers and made over $ 14038 her first month. It feels so good making so much money when other people have to work for so much less.
This is what I do… https://DollarpayDay92.pages.dev/
We live in Kansas. We go to Children’s Mercy Hopsital in Kansas City for our specialities. I absolutely love love love them. It’s an AMAZING hospital.
Definitely stay away from Seattle Children’s Hospital unless you’re willing to open your check book every time you have a problem to pay extra $$$$$$ to keep them all happy and available. Try Texas Children’s. Good luck.
Alabama. UAB hospital is good

New Hampshire. We have CHAD. They saved my little girls life when she was 2… She about to turn 17 now.
Research the hospital. It’s beautiful…
we also have boston children’s not too far from us. Both hospitals are great. Boston has been rated #1 in the nation 9 years in a row.
Boston has the best hospitals in the world. But it’s mad expensive to live there…
There is CHOP in Philadelphia. My cousins daughter goes there and they saved my friends son who had childhood cancer (he’s been cancer free (remission) for 3 years now) he just turned 8. I personally wouldn’t live in Philly, way to crowded for me lol. But some of towns that boarder it are nice.
Cleveland Ohio has rainbow babies and they’re top rated and amazing. Cleveland had a million nice suburbs and there are many costcos here haha. Akron children is also really good, it’s like an hour (give or take) away from Cleveland. Not sure about ssi benefits but I know a lot of people get them for their kids. We have a great community for special needs children here as well!
adding I have one kid with a heart condition and one kid with mod/severe autism.
Boston Childrens is the #1 childrens hospital in the country….they saved my daughters life
Cincinnati Ohio… both Costco and excellent children’s hospital…
Mobile, Al has childrens and womens hospital.
Massachusetts had amazing hospitals cost of living could be better but I manage. I had zero issue applying for ssi and was approved but make to much as I’m a nurse.
I see a lot of people saying ohio on here growing up in akron personally and going to the Childrens hospital i dont recommend it if you want to feel like you live in a safe area. Its no where near as nice as when i was a kid and youll be afraid to get shot walking on the sidewalks. I moved to south carolina at 18 when i had my first child i love it here and you feel like you can walk safe. Try the greenville area so many high end doctors and childrens hospitals there.
Charlotte, NC has both Levine Children’s Hospital (as well as a pediatric specialty center) and Hemby Children’s Hospital.
They have Costco’s, Sam’s, and BJ’s.
There’s several surrounding cities/ towns where the COL isn’t as high as in Charlotte as well.
I live near akron ohio. Do NOT move here. It isn’t safe. Literally people have been shot on hospital parking lots. It isn’t worth it. We are moving.
Rhode Island is nice! Hasboro is one of the best childrens hospitals in the world plus you’re only an hour outside of Boston. We don’t have Costco but we have bjs which is the same.
New Hampshire has Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth and its not far from Boston Children’s.
Whatever you do, do not choose Indiana.
I don’t advise moving to a blue state.
I’m in NC near Brenner’s Children hospital in Winston Salem. They’ve been great for everything my children need. There’s even a local celebrity who’s child was saved by Brenner’s from childhood cancer. They have floors for everything you could possibly think of. It’s a tad expensive to live in the city so it better to live outside of it. I’m maybe 20 mins from the hospital in the county with no hospital but Emergency service is fast and responsive in this area. Brenner Children's | Pediatric Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC | Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist: Brenner Children's
Any large city with a teaching hospital should meet your needs. Durham, NC, Duke University has an excellent medical group. UC Irvine is another excellent medical facility and is located in Irvine, CA. Figure out the climate you want to relocate to and then narrow your search. Call the children’s hospital group and ask questions including how long it takes to get in to see a doctor. You may also want to check your insurance to make sure it is valid in the place you’d like to relocate to.
Do NOT choose New York. No matter what anyone says or tries to give lol. The city and the country side are both absolutely terrible.
Kentucky
Norton’s Children’s hospital is the best for pediatric cardiology
Connecticut has a great children’s hospital as well as Yale Hospital. However, cost of living is very high in Connecticut.
Wisconsin has a very good Children’s hospital best in the state
Yes we have Costco and it’s quite easy to get SSI plus the state SSI gives 130 and good insurance
Good luck
Pittsburgh…we have great award winning hospitals here for just about everything
Chattanooga, they have a great children’s hospital. They just built a brand new out patient hospital for children too. There is a Costco also
Alabama has the women’s and children’s hospital. Our daughter was admitted to the ICU with brain swelling, and they were phenomenal!! They are also part of the Ronald McDonald and they ensure to take care of parents as well, so on one of their floors, you go, and your child gets to leave with a toy, and they are packed with snacks and drinks, even for the parents!!
Check out Helen Devo’s Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan… They are the best!!! They saved my son’s life!
Check out west Michigan… For reference Holland MI is about 30 minutes from GR.
Housing is semi of expensive around here (Ottawa county) but idk in comparison to where you are currently.
We get all four seasons (fall is best)
And Lake MI is beautiful!!
Blank Childrens in Des Moines is a good hospital.
I’m in KCMO. There is Children’s Mercy one of the top hospitals in the country. It’s connected to a sky bridge to a major teaching hospital University Health Systems. Both hospitals have more than one hospital. There isalso University of Kansas Hospital another top hospital in the country on the Kansas side still minutes away from the other two and also a teaching hospital. It’s affordable living as well.

North Carolina and live outside of Durham they have a children hospital.i wouldn’t live in the city but outside the city
Check out what Arkansas has to offer. We have a children’s hospital in Little Rock and NWA (northwest Arkansas) and a few children’s hospital clinics around the state. Find somewhere between the two and you have 2 great options! Living in the city would be expensive but luckily we have tons of small town and rural areas between the two that are good. We also have really great school districts in Arkansas and plenty of family resources that are easy to obtain.
I live in metro atl as well and it’s ridiculous out here. I want out too. But my husbands job and most of our family n
Ssi is a bitch everywhere you go!
Vanderbilt in Nashville
Come to Minnesota! We have amazing medical care/hospitals, lots of support programs and paid parenting which will really help your family out.
Maryland. We have Hopkins and a huge children’s hospital. Also close to Hershey in pa which is great. Close to DC & Baltimore.
Helen DeVos children hospital is one the best. But as a parent of a Down syndrome child Michigan has some excellent problems for special need children. Lived in Illinois and they were 15 to 20 years behind Michigan.
Birmingham has a great Children’s Hospital. So does Memphis & Nashville.
Taylors sc is pretty nice and close to our shriners childrens hospital. We have a Costco as well. There are great handicapped schools are here also
Norfolk Virginia or anywhere in the “Hampton Roads” region. We’ve got Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters (CHKD). It’s an incredible network of every single resource your kid could ever need. We also have a Sentara Heart hospital.
Kansas City! Children’s Mercy is great. And a large metro area with a good traffic flow.
Pittsburgh, PA it has one of the the top 10 children’s hospitals in the nation, which is UPMC children’s. You will have to deal with snow in the winter and there is a Costco
If anyone said Colorado they’re lying. Inflation is crazy here. It’s over populated because everyone thinks it’s so great here. Everyone is hiring but no one is hiring anyone. I will advice against Colorado.
I would check Delaware. DuPont is great, no taxes
The Akron/Cleveland/Canton area in Northeast Ohio is becoming one of the more desirable places to live. All four seasons, close to Lake Erie. We also have Akron Childrens Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic, which is rated the 2nd best hospital in the United States after the Mayo Clinic. Pioneers of the coronary artery bypass surgery and the first face transplant in the United States.
Even though Jacksonville FL is over populated as it is,and it’s crazy here. Over in orange Park there is a Costco and Sam’s, and you’re about 15mins from Baptist children’s Wolfson’s and Nemours, and it’s the best place in town for your kids to be seen by.
Missouri! I love the childrens hospital on saint Louis!
Louisville, KY. The Norton Children’s hospital is next to Costco.
Swfl gulisano children’s hospital is absolutely amazing
Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston is one the highest rated kids hospitals in the country.
Childrens hospital of the kings daughters (chkd) in Norfolk Virginia is incomparable to any facility I’ve ever been to. My child’s life was saved because of this phenomenal place and it’s amazing doctors and nurses. Three of my children have had life saving surgeries there. It is the best of the best.
Indianapolis Indiana has several wonderful childrens hospitals. Riley, Payton Manning hospital for children and also IU.
Minnesota with the mayo clinic
Chapel Hill, NC UNC Childerns hospital is the best
Akron Children’s is amazing, lots of great communities nearby!
Cincinnati has a amazing children’s hospital and the town has some decent areas. Indianapolis is pretty great too and it’s not as expensive as most “bigger” cities.
Do not move to Virginia!!! It’s awful!!!
Mayo Rochester or Minneapolis in Minnesota!!!
Kansas City has Children’s Mercy! Great hospital!
Madison WI has it all
Iowa city iowa. University of Iowa hospital and clinics and there’s a Cosco
Columbus Ohio has a good children’s hospital and the town I live in has really good school district 30 mins outside of Columbus.
Little Rock AR has a wonderful Children’s hospital. Cost of living isn’t like other states. West Little Rock is a good area. Maumelle is next to Little Rock. Great area. Costco is in west Little Rock.
Totally depends on your insurance. Sadly this determines the quality of services and supplies here in Texas.
A. I. Dupont in Delaware is a Great children’s hospital. No taxes! Is a plus.
