M 35 and due with my 4th girl this summer, and I’m highly considering getting my tubes tied. I would love to hear from other women who have done this! Good, bad, pros, cons, regrets, or would you do it all over again. Also, how have your periods been afterward? Thanks in advance, ladies!
We got ours tied…and then untied because we wanted more babies (pregnant with baby #5 now🥰). My periods were terrible after I had my tubes tied.
This is a very personal decision, but I personally would never tie mine again and will be opting for a less permanent option.
All the women I know who did that gained at least 55 lb
I got my tubes tied and my periods are heavier since having it done. Having them tied I don’t regret as I have 4 babies and know I was finished procedure wasn’t bad at all sore for about 2-3 days and then pretty much back to normal! Throat hurts bad for about a week from having the tube down your throat. My incisions healed very well and can barely tell. I have 3 small ones.
My periods were absolutely horrible after I got my tubes tied. I bled through my clothes every month. I bled so much that I became anemic. I’m actually in the process of scheduling a hysterectomy.
I got my tubes removed, my periods are better I don’t cramp. there’s a chance of getting pregnant with tubes tied
I got mine tied the day after I had our fourth child. the doctor came in the morning of the surgery and asked me if I was honestly ready to do this. She said that you know it can cause your periods to get worse cramps worse everything. I knew that I wanted them done because I did not want to see get pregnant again but I wish I had gone another option because she was correct my periods are worse and the cramping is horrible.
As far as the procedure like I said I got it done the day after I had my fourth child so I was still recovering from childbirth but it honestly was not too bad. if you get it done just make sure you have comfy pants because it will get rubbed and it will hurt.
I got my tubes removed. I always had heavy periods but they are definitely the worst they’ve ever been. Although I do have some other female issues that are unrelated.
I have 4 kids and am in my 30s now so im glad I cant have any more. Birth control just never was something I could use, so I dont regret it.
I didn’t see any difference really however nothing is 100% I found this out summer 2019 a suspected kidney infection was infact a baby nobody thought to test for pregnancy due to being sterilised years ago and having periods I now have a 14 month old miracle baby girl with an age gap of 18yrs between eldest and her
I had mine tied 2 years ago. I got pregnant in September of 2020, doctor confirmed it wasn’t in my tube, had a misscarige at the beginning of October 2020.
I had mine removed, eliminates any chance as well as reduces the chances of ovarian cancer by 50-80%. I dont regret it a bit, recovering is easy, periods are a tad heavier but over all nothing that would change my mind.
Had mine tied a month after having my son. Have heavier periods and cramping now but that’s it. I actually went out and rode on a motorcycle that night with my then husband.
Didn’t have any pain with the incision or healing, just a sore throat that same day from the tube is all.
My mom had hers tied…7 years later I was born…her 6th child. In her 40s. If you do not want more children maybe consider a different option…I know others who had same thing happen after having tubes tied.
I got my tubes done after my son was born. I definitely regret it now. It’s only been two months so I can’t say I’ve gained any extra weight or had horrible periods cause neither has happened for me yet. I’ve just had light bleeding since he was born.
I just got my tubes removed a couple months ago after having my 4th child. Recovery was super easy and my periods are lighter with little to no cramping.
I had my tubes tied almost 4 years ago. I do not regret it since I don’t want more children but I do wish I’d done more research on it. My menstrual cycle is completely awful since then (heavy, irregular, etc.)
I got my tubes removed and I’ve been just fine. Lighter periods and I’m losing weight
I got my done and don’t regret it at all. I had no problem at all.
My period was horrible after my tubes were tied. I had a hysterectomy last year. It was so bad I was wearing diapers.
I had one child in 2012 and was tired of freaking out about birth control so I decided to get my tubes removed in September2020. I was relieved of how easy it was. I thought they weren’t going to because I had one. No regrets since I don’t want anymore children. My periods never changed as they have been like normal 4 day periods since my late teens. Good luck.
I got clamps put on my tubes 2 years after childbirth. I noticed worse cramping but that was it. It’s been 12 years and I have had no problems
Got mine tied almost 18 months ago immediately after my 3rd baby
No problems at all and my period has been the same
Got mine tied and havent had any problems at all… my periods are normal they arent any heavier than before I don’t get bad cramps… for me it was a breeze
tied, braided, burned done
I had my tubes tied 27 years ago & do not regret it at all. I was in a bad marriage, had 1 child & 24 years old. I didnt want children with multiple men. I didnt gain alot of weight & my periods werent any different. I think everyone is different & really research your options.
Worst thing I ever did - great that I can’t have a baby now which is what I wanted , but my periods are horrendous , the pain monthly is awful and I leak through my clothes all the time no matter what sanitary products I use it’s just awful , my moods I swear have been affected I suffer bad pms now never did before - would I do it again ? Absolutely not
No regrets. Had mine done after 2nd miscarriage. I do have 3 beautiful girls though! A little tender for about a week with some mild bruising.
I have 11 kids. I’ve always been afraid of tubal, or anything that had to do with being put to sleep. But I finally had it done, my procedure was fast and no pain. I had my tubes cut and then burned. That was the year 2000. My menstrual been normal, and now due to age, I’ve stopped with the menstrual, to me it wasnt so bad after all.
I had mine tied after my 4th daughter was born, and afterwards my periods got super heavy and uncomfortable… like leaking through both tampons and pads in less than 15 minutes. I literally couldn’t do anything or go anywhere, and they lasted 20 day with only 6 or 7 days off in-between. I ended up getting a uterus ablation and cauterization and now I have no periods at all and life is wonderful.
I started having alot of anxiety after my tubal. (I’ve never been an anxiety ridden person) I Never really related the 2 until I started doing research and reaching out to my other mom friends. Wish I had known more about that before making my decision. As far as periods & cramps go, they’re both heavier but tolerable
Got it done about 4 1/2 years ago. No regrets. Periods are shorter but heavier.
Had mine tied almost 9yrs ago, only thing that is different is my period cramps are more intense sometimes not always
I had mine done 8yrs ago after my 3rd (a very rough almost lost her pregnancy) was born and lost my 4th who would’ve been 10 months younger. I just felt that my body was saying no more. Anyways… My Dr. did the titanium clamps for mine and the only issue I’ve had since is shorter but more painful periods.
I have had my tubes tired , and the periods were horrible… But I did get pregnant 7 years later
Following…
I asked for my tubes to be tied after my last baby And they are removing them next month. Not sure if there would be a difference in side effects?!
I had my tubes tied in combination with my c-section when I had my daughter almost 7 years ago. My cycles are crazy long and heavy and close together. I regret it daily as in I want another baby but also my tubes are now filled with fluid and I will be having a hysterectomy this summer
Very heavy periods after tubal. Lots of blood clots too I’m three years out since having it done.
Got mine tied 15 years ago after 4 kids and I totally regret it. Periods are worse and I never had a cramp till I got them tied. I’m looking into getting mine untied as we speak.
Just had mine done 8 weeks ago so far I don’t feel any different
Absolutely NO regrets. Had my 4th baby in 2018, had my tubes tied in Feb 2020. We knew we didn’t want anymore. Best thing ever!
Maybe your man should just get snipped alot easier then getting your tubes tied and alot less invasive. But that’s just my opinion. Just thought is share it.
Ask your Dr a million questions and do thorough research on your own as well!
Talk to your husband about if he’d be willing to have a vasectomy instead, since, in the case that you do change your minds, it’s much easier to reverse his procedure than yours. If you’re 100% sure though, go for it. I had mine done 6 weeks after my second child and besides a bit more cramping with my periods, things have been mostly normal.
Got them tied 23 years ago after my second son best thing ever. My periods never changed.
I had four kids and knew my family was complete. I had tried different birth control methods, but didn’t seem to tolerate anything very well. Tubal ligation was a relatively simple procedure. I don’t remember there being much downtime, if any. It has worked well for over 17 years. I’m so happy that I went through with this. My periods seem to be the same.
I had mine done a month after my second child. She is 6 now. It was the worst thing I have ever done in my.life personally. The cramps were worse and the flow was heavier and it also never stopped!! I ended up having a hysterectomy almost 2 years ago now.
Almost 3 years out. Multiple periods in a month heavier more painful. Most months can’t get out of bed. Go thur half a box of tampons and pads a month the super plus.
Had mine done 19 years ago in December. Had no issues at all . Would not do anything different.
After a year of Broken marriage, my lover left me with one kid, I felt like ending it all, i almost committed suicide because she left us with nothing, i was emotionally down all this while. Thanks to a spell caster called Dr pascal which i met online who brought my Lover back to me. On one faithful day, as I was browsing through the internet, I came across several of testimonies about Dr pascal Some people testified that he brought their Ex lover so I gave a try and it ended well you can also contact him via email. drmaxwelcare@gmail. com or via WhatsApp+2349039343473
I had my tubes done. My periods got so much worse and 6 years after having them done I ended up pregnant. I regret having the procedure done.
My period is fine.Everything is fine.
I had mine done after 4th child at age 24.my periods were so regular and normal. Getting fixed was the best decision I have ever made.absolutely no regrets
Best thing i have ever done
was 28, my periods went from a week to 3 days now!!! im happy that i got it done
Had mine done after 4th kid at 35yrs old. My periods are horrible. Heavy heavy bleeding and such bad cramps now
I had my tubes removed after my 5th baby i wont lie i have moments here and there where i regret it and i get baby fever but im glad i did it more than i regret it but my period isnt any different than it was before
Since having mine done last year, my periods have been great. But I swear to god I’ve had the worst ovulation pains I’ve ever experienced in my life since getting tubes done. I was laid on my couch ALL DAY with the exception of having to occasionally chase my toddler. I was seriously concerned I was having a tubal pregnancy for majority of the day.
Would I do it again? Absolutely not. I want a reversal just because of the ovulation pain being so horrendous. I don’t want more kids. But I don’t want to be in pain for 2 days straight when I hit peak ovulation either. As a mother of 3, I do not have the time to be in pain that keeps me from moving.
I got mine tied after 4 kids. It was the best thing I ever did. my periods however did get heavier
I did after my daughter an never had any problems
Had mine cut and the Middle 3rd piece removed, tied on both ends…pregnant 3.5 yrs later…son was 1 yr old when I had another tubal with 4 titanium clamps…go with the clamps
Had mine done in 2018 after I had my second child. My periods are shorter and a bit lighter (I was an extremely heavy bleeder before I got this done). The cramps are more intense sometimes but i manage with motrin and tylenol. I had it done awake during my second c-section. Was up and walking around as soon as I was allowed and could feel my legs. Did not add any extra healing time so I would assume recovery for it wouldn’t be too bad by itself.
26, had my 4th and got my tunes tied a month later. So far no issues at all
Had it done after my C section in 2008. Periods were awful for a few years after. Very painful and super heavy. But now its down to about 3 days and light. But that could also be due to my age and getting closer to the change. I wish I knew before of the painful and heavy periods. But I have no regrets and would do it again.
Had mine tied at 31, the day after the birth of my 5th child. I have had no problems, and no change to my menstrual cycle. I have no regrets, and get my baby fix from coworkers kids, and livestock babies.
Following. My youngest is 9 but I’m considering it. I hate the way birth control makes me feel and I don’t think I’ll be having any more kids…
I got my tubes removed July 2019. My periods are now heavier and impossible to track. Also the cramps are much worse
Vasectomy is easier and safer.
I hade mine done the old way it hurt like the dickens but I’m glad I did it and shorter periods is nice
I love it cuz I can’t get pregnant but baby my periods are the worst I bleed extra heavy an go thru pads like crazzy for like 3 days then I spot off an on for an other 4 days sometime longer
No regrets ,except really sore afterwards, hurt worse then having the baby, done mine through naval button with a clamp instead of stitches
It’s been 7 years since I had mine tied, the first few years were great, regular light periods, mild cramping and short. Now they are terrible and unpredictable, intense bleeding and cramping and the mood swings are out of this world. Seriously weigh your options of other forms of “permanent” birth control.
I had my tubes 75 % removed. Its more permanent the tube tying and won’t come undone. I’ve actually lost weight sense i got it done. I was a size XL shirt and now I’m down to a size L shirt. My periods are the same as before and I started back with my periods when my son was about 1 month old.
Brady see its not just me…
Best thing I ever did
I opted for filshie clips after my doctor pushed and pushed for essure. No regrets at all. Birth control made me a psychopath and was only effective because it completely killed my libido. My periods are regular for the first time in my life. Worst part of the procedure was the typical pain in my neck and shoulders from having laparoscopic surgery. Well worth it as a single momma of 5!!
I had mine done after my 4th baby. Had her on the 10th and the next afternoon less than 24hrs I was getting my tubes tied they did not put me under just did a spinal so I couldn’t feel anything and had the drape in front of me so I couldn’t see but that back fired on them due to a mirror above me lol so they ended up having a nurse keep a wash cloth over my eyes and talk to me about random stuff and they gave me meds through my iv for nausea and anxiety I felt pressure but no real pain until afterwards I had terrible bruising but that was due to a part of my tube being stuck to scar tissue from a different surgery years prior everything went through my belly button which was great. I regret it because I did want more babies but it literally almost killed me and my daughter during birth so it was a no choice type decision. My periods have been horrible since I had it done it will be 3 years in July and some days it’s hard to even walk or move and then other days it hurts to sit still. And even now sometimes my belly button will still hurt for a few minutes then goes away which my Dr said it was normal for some women.
No issues having tubes tied 7 years ago but periods are way heavier and worse cramps
Had mine done 5 years no issues so far!!
I had my tubes tied about 27 years ago. I never had an issue with anything. Best thing I did. I was already having bad periods before. But it never increased my period or pain from them at all. Yes I would do it all over if I had to. I was 21 when I had my tubes tied.
Get them removed it’ll reduce your cycles, make them lighter, and reduce risk of ovarian cancer.
I was spouse to have my tubes tied, but they ended up just removing mine because of bleeding ( I did have very bad bleeding during mine), which was fine by me but I also had a iud placed at the same time to stop my periods. My ob said it would be fine and it has been I haven’t had a period since and he told me it can last longer since I have my tubes removed and I don’t ovulate where as if my tubes where tied I would still ovulate because of the hormones released during that process.
Easy surgery, no issues
I regret every minute of it but that’s cause I wanted more children.
Had mine done at 33 after 3 kids. My youngest was 4 years old at the time.
Recovery was good, I was kickboxing on day 8. I think my PMS has gotten worse but I think it has to do with age and not the tubal ligation. I have heard of people who suffer ill effects but I don’t have any.
I got mine tied at 28 - 4 kids (3 c sections) it’s been 2.5 yrs and I would do it all over again.
I wouldn’t say my periods are worse but they aren’t better either - just different and sometimes I’m late by a couple weeks and I panic but I love it.
Got mine done two months after my second daughter at 27. I seriously regret it. Not because I want more kids, that’s a big no and the reason I did it. I regret it because I’ve had nothing but issues. My back pain at 29 is said to be pain in a 60 year old. My periods use to be 3-4 days light to regular pads now are 7 days and heavy the whole time changing a super every 2 hours or I’m bleeding through and the last three months I’ve been having two a month. I’ve yet to be able to lose any weight even on a diet/working out/ and medicine to help. I bloat/water weight at least 10 pounds every period. My mood swings are miserable even for myself. And the constant cramps (which I’ve never cramped before) have the heating pad my best friend. It’s all new to me as I’ve always had easy periods. The only positive is the unlikely ever getting pregnant. But everyone is different.
At 34 I had my 5th kid 9/3/19 and a c section had them remove my tubes at the same time. Pretty happy with the result and my periods were awful before so no change there. Recovery was great.
Got my tubes tied and got pregnant with my 5th baby
Also the worst thing I have done had my 3rd child at 34 tubes tied 17 months after and have horrible cramps and very heavy periods now .
Worst experience of my life
Your problems are not related to a Tubalization
Facts!!!
Somewhat regular periods after my tubal ligation. I unfortunately had an ectopic pregnancy this last fall four years after having a tubal ligation. You still have a pregnancy risk. Most require surgery and they remove the tube with the embryo.
Got it done 10 years ago after my 4th have no problems and my period is the way it always was
Had it done 44 years ago and I never had a problem with my periods. They were heavy before and didn’t change.
I had my tubes removed. I noticed I cramp a little bit now. Never really didn’t before. But that’s about it
34 and got 4 birth kids here. Youngest is 2.5, got my tubes tied because I had suddenly started gushing blood. Was pregnant right before my husband had his vasectomy we lost it at 5-6 weeks or so we thought it all got expelled, even went to the dr, well some of it hadn’t been expelled so about 8 mos later something in my uterus ruptured, we had my tubes tied well removed, apperantly that’s what they do now, but I was done dealing with it. Haha. But anywho best decision ever and periods are 3 days long. No regrets about it. No issues, I was up the day after which I shouldn’t have been but you know the responsibilities of motherhood.
I had asked for mine to be tied but was told that its better to have them removed. So July of 2020 after my c-section they removed my tubes. I bled super bad as if I delivered my son vaginally. My periods are painful and super heavy. Like soaking pads…was going thru tampons like crazy and it started irritating my skin. Going in to discuss options next month.
I had mine done 10 years ago and it was super easy surgery. My periods have been light since i use to have every heavy ones.I har baby fever off and on where i wish i could have another one but i am glad i did it.
I had mine removed at age 35. No issues. Periods are regular and flow is still the same as before.
Had mine tied when I was 21 no regrets but had horrible problems after so ended up partial hysterectomy been perfect since
