I never did. Fed it to them.

It’s not recommended to do that

Never. Doctor told me it was a choking hazard. I know plenty of people do tho but not worth it personally :woman_shrugging:t2:

2 and a half months just enough to thicken the milk a little like half a formula scoop

I started at 3 months with pediatrician okay. My son had bad reflux so she told me to put a little in

You shouldn’t. It’s recommended to start cereals at 6mo

About 3 months I spoon fed all 4 of mine

I started when my kids were three weeks

You aren’t supposed to

Spoon fed… teaches them what to do with a spoon and helps with learning to swallow… at 5 months

The doc did all 3 of mine at birth…

A month old with my third.

Never. Choking hazard.
Fed it to them mixed with warmed breast milk I had pumped starting at 6 months.

Never did it. Spoon fed cereal mixed with formula around 4 months.

Around 8 months I put a little in her night time bottle to fill her up longer

Week old. Reflux…was desperate for anything to help. Doc suggested rice cereal

I feed mine by spoon in a bowl after 6 months

My pediatrician even recommended it to me because she would wake up so much through the night but everyone has different opinions. We tried at about 3 mo to hopefully help her sleep through the night but it NEVER worked :disappointed: so I stopped.

What ever u fill is best i started around 5 munths

When my kids were about 6 weeks. They had acid reflux and they would have me put a small amount in their formula. But never thick. If you need to cut the nipple then you need to use the spoon.

About 2/3 months everyone is different ask your dr

I put a little in their bottles at a couple weeks old.

Please don’t do this! It’s sooo dangerous and could cause your baby to choke. If baby is hungry just make an extra ounce in their bottle.

Never in the bottle. It’s a choking hazard.

Around 2 months. My son has terrible reflux and if I dont give him rice in his night bottles he screams then throws up all day the next day.

Umm never.
Choking hazard. Never risk it.

6 months. I strictly breastfeed my daughter until she was done and my milk started drying up.
So I did a mix of formula, cereal, and a bit of fruit puree to get her used to the taste of solid foods.
It kept her full, she started sleeping through the night after that.

A month old… the only thing that would help his acid reflux on top of the meds he was on… he outgrew the acid reflux thank goodness.

Don’t put it in the bottle. That’s horrible. Why do people still believe in doing this?!? USE A SPOON?? Also feed them oatmeal or fruits instead of rice cereal !

Not recommended. Because baby’s digestive system is only cut out for formula or breast milk till 6 months.

4 months because he was drinking 8 6-8oz bottles at night and was getting no sleep. Once we started that he started to sleep more and ate 3 6oz bottles at night instead. (This was all per doctors orders tho)

I switched formulas to Enfamil AR it already has cereal in it

4 weeks with Drs orders. My son had pyloric stinosis so we had to thicken his bottles so he didn’t throw everything up

I made cereal with some of the bottle in a bowl at 5-6 months and spoon fed then gave the rest of the bottle as normal

Doctor suggested 2 1/2 weeks for my little boy bc he was not getting enough to eat and just gorging his self. But every baby is different

Never gave either of my children in bottles. Make extra formula. Baby should be on formula only until 6 months.

Feed baby cereal by spoon, dont put into the bottle. It depletes the formula by tsking nutrients away baby can actually absorb- they can’t absorb the nutrients in the cereal. It’s also a choking hazard. Just mix the cereal with a little baby juice.

8 years ago my daughter’s pediatrician actually recommended it for her reflux. I followed his instructions carefully of course, and it definitely helped. With my 5 & 3 year old, it never came up. There was no reason to. When they were ready they ate it by spoon.

We never used cereal. Too much of just a filler.

I don’t exactly remember but between 2 and 4 months old. That was 11 1/2 years ago. Lol

About 6months but didn’t make it thick more milk than cereal

Never! Dont be lazy just use a spoon

Did one time when my oldest was 5 months. She was up all night screaming. Never did it again or with any of my other kids

About 4 months for all 3 of mine… Only alitte in the formula just enough to thicken it a bit… The bottle before bed… My mother in law always tried to get me to start around 2 months but I just didn’t feel comfortable w/ it…

2 weeks old…oatmeal cereal…bc had acid reflux plus weren’t getting full

I wouldn’t just because it’s a serious choking hazard. Unless directed by the pediatrician, I would just hold off. Good luck

I was told by my daughter pediatricians to start her on cereal at 4 weeks in the bottle. I don’t remember how much (it’s been 8 years) but it was just enough to make it slightly thicker.

My baby girl is 5 weeks old and is having stomach valve issues. Her Dr has me adding cereal to her bottles to help keep down her formula.

I didn’t give my little boy cereal in his bottle until he was 4 months.

Never.

It’s a choking hazard and is completely pointless.

Per all major health organization, babe should be 6 months meeting all of readiness solids are given

Feeding too soon can damage their digestive and lead to other long health issues.

Never put it in their bottle. Started spoon feeding cereal at 4 months and purées.

I did at like a month old. Caught a lot of hell over it but my daughter is just fine. She was always hungry and was anxious coming out. My aunt suggested it to help me out and she loved it.

4 months for both mine.

3 months , he was hungry all the time till we added a teaspoon of cereal to his bottle

All 3 of mine survived; Always hold your baby’s bottle and never leave them alone, properly burp after, just gotta be smart about it, which I’m sure you are, I started no earlier than 4 or 5 months☺️

3 months for both if mine. They slept longer through the night that way.

Around 3 months but not in a bottle. Just a little cereal between feedings

3 months. I put a tablespoon of it in her bottle. (doctors orders)

3 weeks I think I had a 8lb 12oz baby so she wasn’t getting full so we tried it and it was keeping her full and happy and now she’s 2 1/2 and is as healthy as can be

Cereal in the bottle is only for babies who have reflux and ordered by their doctor, it’s a choking hazard otherwise. There is no need for cereal otherwise as it has no nutritional value.

5 months I tried cereal but used oatmeal instead. I asked pediatrician if it was okay- she said whatever my preference is. I did what I thought was best

I did it with both of mine around 6ish mos. I know they say not to do this anymore but every single baby I have ever known has eaten this way and they are all happy, healthy kids now so…:woman_shrugging: It’s your choice so do what you feel comfortable with not what everyone else tells you.

Never it has no nutritional value and it actually doesn’t help them sleep longer plus it’s a choking hazard. If your child had reflux or a medical condition the doctor may recommend it as they need a thicker formula but you can also get Gelmix which does the same thing.

All 5 of my kids started the cereal bottle at night before bed at around a month in a half 2 months I always used the oatmeal though all my kids are happy and healthy

Never. It has zero nutritional value.

I had to start real early my son had bad acid reflux and Dr told me to. I started with a tiny bit in there then worked my way up to get his body used to it. It also helped him sleep all night since he was always hungry from not keeping anything down he never slept. The cereal did wonders for me

Never it’s not recommended if the baby is hungry wean him/her if old enough. If not change to a formula for hungry babies

6 weeks otherwise she was eating every hour

4-5 months - and not in the bottle

The Drs had my daughter put in my grandsons formula at 3 weeks because he had severe acid reflux

when they came home from hospital, after first born had to be nursed hourly.

never. it’s not needed and is a choking hazard in bottles

Never. It had no nutritional value

My pediatrician had me start my daughter around her first month. But with my son we didn’t have to do it at all. Just talk to your pediatrician about whatever concerns you have, I’m sure they’ll have different options, and some medical advice for you

2 months. Same with baby food. Cured all my kids reflux

4 months
6 happy and healthy kids

Barely ever did it with my first but around 4 months

With the second i realized it was a waste of time, effort and money and regular oatmeal is fine. But she eats everything so…

Ask that doctor girl!:school::tshirt:

If you do it… Spoon feed them.

2 months old.
She had reflux so bad she would spit up blood so the ER and pediatrician said I should do that cereal. She also wasn’t gaining much weight because nothing would stay down.
IT IS A CHOKING HAZARD so please don’t do it unless a doctor suggests you should for medical reasons and never feed unless you are present.

Never. It’s a filler, has no nutritional value, a choking hazard, and completely unnecessary

I never did. I just started baby foods. It has no nutritional value

I did at about 4 months, the bottle before bed, to help her sleep longer thru the night… I also let mine sleep in a rock and play…with a blanket! to each their own. You do what you are comfortable with!

My oldest was at 2 months and youngest was at 5 weeks because the milk didn’t fill her up I was up every other hour feeding her after starting cereal she went to every four hours

2 mos 1st baby. Never 2nd baby

I never added cereal to my sons formula. I did feed it to him from a spoon (added the formula and make it kinda soupy at first) when he was about 41/2 months. He loved it!

Unles under advisement from a doctor id be very careful as it is a hazard they could aspirate

Is there no such think as thickener for formula or formula for reflux where you all live.
Cereal in bottles is unheard of here. I had two premmies one with terrible reflux and I got formula from the pharmacy specially for reflux. I’m shocked at all the comments here saying doctors orders

Never did that not safe

2 months we started oatmeal cereal

2 months due to reflux. Only thing that gave my lil guy some relief.

I didn’t go by she, just when they can hold their head up and maybe start to sit up unassisted in the high chair.

Our doc suggested at 6 months. Second baby only made it to 4 months before needing it.

We did at 6 months. But our second is on enfamil ar for reflux so i put it in her baby food.

I never added cereal to the bottle I always fed it by spoon it’s a bad habit to put it in the bottle if they get too used to it then they don’t want to drink the milk without the cereal

3 weeks to help with acid reflux with Dr approval/suggestion. Worked so much better than medicine. Also it was oatmeal not rice cereal.

But I think between 4 and 5 months you can start feeding cereal it really just depends on the baby some just aren’t Satisfied by the milk anymore earlier than others
