Could my anxiety have me thinking something is wrong with me?

My anxiety does this. Causes fight or flight. Drains the blood from
Extremities to push it to your brain and heart because it goes into a panic.

Same way here , panic attacks for me

Maybe something simple like dehydration? Hope you feel better soon

I am having the same issues! Mine started in November. All my labs came back normal and then in the end of December I went into surgery for them to perform a swab on my thyroid. That came back normal and they said I had myositis. I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks. I went back a few weeks after that with the same symptoms. Mine get so bad at the base of my skull and if I move just right there is a pop and it’s like a relief of pressure then I have a mild headache after that. I told them I was having extreme anxiety and mild depression. They told me everything looked normal and suggested I lose a few pounds and exercise and eat healthier and come back in a few months if I didn’t feel better. Mind you I had lost 30 pounds within a year. I’m scared to go back. I don’t want to go back just to be a lab rat and get a matching incision on the other side of my neck :woman_facepalming:t4:

Sounds just like my tension headaches! I get them often and they hurt bad and just how you explained them with nausea and everything. Ask your dr about it and they may be able to give you something for it. I use ice at the back of my neck and take exceeding migraine. I don’t have insurance XOXO

I have Panic disorder and Generalized anxiety disorder and I get all those symptoms when I have an attack. Im on Lexapro and Alprazolam for it. I could get an attack shopping or driving or even trying to take my son to the park. My dr tried to help but the only person that really worked is a psychiatrist. I’ve known I had GAD for over 10 years, but I never knew I suffered from Panic disorder till I went to him. A psychiatrist can help more than a dr, and I’ve had brain scans, heart tests and so many blood tests done and I’m healthy, it’s just anxiety disorders.

Im Going through something similar did you have Covid

I have panic disorder and anxiety I am on medication for . Sometimes when I have my attacks nothing even happens to trigger them they are just random . I could be in the greatest mood and then all a sudden start feeling disoriented, short of breath, and nauseous. I battle this everyday . I have learned different ways to cope and help but it’s clearly never going to stop and I feel like a lot of times I’m dying when In fact I’m clearly healthy . It’s all a mind thing and I fight my mind everyday .

Sounds like a migraine. I’ve had them since I was 12…almost 50 now. Anxiety, stress can bring them on. Talk to your doctor about this. Hope you feel better

They could be tension headaches, but find another doctor if your doctor is dismissing your symptoms. Ask for a referral to a neurologist. It could be anyone of a zillion things.

Chiropractor helped me! Now I just go once a month for maintenance and it’s amazing.

I do the same exact thing!!! Dr’s say everything is normal and it’s street and anxiety. I just try to ground myself and focus until the feeling goes away. Dr’s look at me like I’m crazy :pensive: I hate it.

Stress and blood pressure could be the cause

Have the same symptoms here when having an anxiety attack. I just tell myself if you ain’t blacked out by now it’s just anxiety.

Chiari? It seems to go undiagnosed quite often

I get them like that. It sets my anxiety off big time. I ended up at the chiropractor. It’s a joint in my neck. They believe it’s an old injury from a car accident that I end up irritating. I literally had a migraine for 12 days and was desperate and went to the chiropractor off a friend’s suggestion. Worth a try

Have him check vitamin D levels, my husband was the same way began taking RX vitamin D and within a week or so they slowed down and one month later he was better

Change Dr ask for xray of neck. Go to Chiropractor explain symptoms maybe they have x ray machine. Not sure if I would let anyone "crack " my neck until I knew if there was a pinched nerve or something else serious

Ask another doctor. By any chance did you have covid?

There’s a lot of comments here, but I figured I’d throw out my 2 cents too.

I have the same symptoms, and have since I was a preteen. I was finally diagnosed with Psuedotumor Cerebri in the beginning of 2020. It literally means false brain tumor and the symptoms of it mimicks the symptoms of a large brain tumor. Hence the name.

It’s a condition that’s more common in women. In a nut shell, if you have it, the pressure inside your head from the fluid is too high. It squeezes your brain. Kind of similar to hydrocephalus but not exactly. That’s probably a horrible explanation, but the closest I can get to without getting it too wrong.

Up until then I felt like I was going crazy and no one was listening to me. My family doctor convinced me I just had anxiety and panic attacks.
Well I guess I did, but it was because I just felt weird(for lack of better word) and no one could find what was wrong. I honestly thought I was going crazy lol.

An indepth eye exam with your eyes dilated can lead to a diagnosis sometimes because it makes your optic nerves swell. So they can see that and point you in the direction of a neurologist or vascular neurosurgeon if need be.

But sometimes it doesn’t and the only way to officially diagnosis it is with MRAs/MRVs to see if there’s any narrowing of veins or arteries, and a spinal tap to measure your CF pressure.

Chiropractor may be able to help. I had chronic migraines for years, went to the Chiropractor for 2 months and my chronic migraine headaches went away.

Ive been experiencing same for about a year now. Dr keeps telling me its just my anxiety :weary:

Go to a good Neurologist for another opinion. Then go from there. May be something they just haven’t found yet.

Do a poor man’s tilt table. Measure ur blood pressure sitting down and then again standing up with ur head looking straight ahead. If you blood pressure drops by 20 to 30 points yet ur heart rate goes up 20 to 30 points Google pots syndrome. Good luck.

My dr had me take several deep breaths very close together. Then he asked if it mimicked the feeling. … it did so he said its hyperventilating from anxiety and I had no idea I even was. Hyperventilating seemed to me as something you would definitely know your doing. I was reassured then that it was just anxiety… just my thoughts, good luck!

Try cutting caffeine from your diet, if you intake any. Had the same symptoms you described plus serious vertigo, yet once I cut the caffeine they disappeared completely.

Go to a chiropractor

Try grounding yourself when it comes on. Like the grass is green the sky is blue or whatever is around u. Name the texture colors and so on. Put somethjng cold on the back of your neck.

Talk to your Dr you could be having anxiety and panic attacks.

Sounds like my migraines… they do occur more often when I’m stressed. I agree with seeing a neurologist as well. They can provide rescue medicines and even preventative options.

This happens to me and I have resolved these issues by making sure when your work station is not ergonomic
Looking up too much or looking down at your phone too long when ur neck is already irritated with inflammation can cause severe headaches and nausea. Also if the tv is too high on the entertainment center it can cause so much pain as well… these r things people don’t really realize but makes a huge difference.
You can fix it by taking turmeric and oregano oil pills to reduce inflammation.
Also take Tylenol Becuz u need to practice pain management with this issue or else it will lead to anxiety and ur body won’t release pain when is extremely heightened.
The other reason u could be having severe neck pain is if your severely dehydrated! Drink water and 2 Gatorade’s. You need electrolytes. Being dehydrated causes back of neck pain
Also massage the front of the neck and jaw line, collar bone.
Take deep breaths that will alleviate panic and nausea. Massage the sides of your neck and take deep breaths literally breathing keeps nausea away and reduces stress in the vagus nerve on your neck that is attach to nerves that can lead to stroke if your not careful.
Rub lavender essential oil on ur temples.

Make sure u aren’t being poisoned. I just watched the gypsy rose story n anything is possible.

Sounds like panic attacks to me. A therapist can help you with figuring out what causes them and how to avoid/reduce them.

They’re migraines i have them often and feel the same way. My MRI didnt show anything either. My neurologist put me on Nurtec and it knocks them out within 15-20 mins without side effects. It’s the only medicine I’ve found that works and I’ve tried alot. It’s a oral dissolving tablet and they are a lifesaver.

Sounds like migraines and because you you aren’t sure what’s going on you’re having anxiety. I have had all the same symptoms. Please see your doctor asap. Migraines can be caused by many things. Mine were from hormone fluctuations. My sister from msg.

Sounds a lot like the symptoms you’d have with Chiari Malformation. My daughter and several other people i know have it and those are some of the symptoms. Most Chiari his undiagnosed because it’s not a widely known thing, but 80% of migraine sufferers have it. You need to see a neurologist and have an MRI done to find it. Good luck and I hope they find out what’s wrong. :purple_heart:

I have had this exactly and a low dose antidepressant helped. I hate those meds so im trying to fix it naturally this time around but for me it seemed to be lack of serotonin. But no depression. My neurologist told me my brain needed to be reset. He had put me on the meds and said once I had 3 months no symptoms to taper back off. This time around I’m trying 5htp which I think might be starting to help

Migraines can be caused by anything, but the numbness and tingling on your left side is very concerning. It might be a good idea to get checked by a cardiologist. I had ocular migraines quite a bit when I was younger and got checked for them. The doctors never found anything until I was 46. I went to the ER with what I thought were walking pneumonia symptoms. They ran some tests and it turned out I had a benign tumor in my heart. Once the tumor was removed, the migraines ended. I’m not trying to scare you and I have no clue what’s causing your migraines, but that numbness is something that needs to be checked by a cardiologist or even neurologist. One thing for sure, request an echocardiogram.

Vertigo maybe… often times when my migraine attacks & my meds didn’t worked out -vertigo follows… There were times I passed out, my BP was normal. But vertigo had me knocked out. Fortunately I was at home and my husband was just beside when it happened…

I think you’re having panic attacks with anxiety, are horrible the first time happen to me I end up at the hospital, is been 10 years now and I take medication for ,I not moving out of my house without it,most of the time I won’t need it, but I had to have it, talk to your doctor he prescribed Alprozalan 1 mg ,twice at day at the beginning, now I take one or 1/2 at night, sometimes if is real hot and lots of people I put half under my tongue, is awful but it’s help trust me, wishing the best talk to your doctor that is not going without treatment.

I know this sounds crazy but I rub Vicks Vapor Rub on my shoulder between my neck and shoulder where the muscles get tense I drink plenty of water and stay away from caffeine I suffered for many years with anxiety where I passed out and have attacks your mind controls your body listen to relaxation tapes

I get these all the time. I use heat packs on the neck to help. It is definitely a tension, hormonal, stress thing for me. I also noticed sometimes my desk job can cause some of the issues.

I used to have migraine headaches. I would use moist heat on my head. It helped to relax me and the headache would ease. My headaches would last as long as a week.
There were times that an ice pack on my neck would help reduce my tension headache.
You might try either heat or ice to see if either would relieve the symptoms.
GOD bless you.

I think it might be migraines too. See another doctor. Medication can help. Learn your triggers. Mine was gluten. Gluten and migraine free for 15 years!

I would have a neurologist or Neurosurgeon app’t. I had to a a cervical fusion done on me neck because my spinal cord was narrowing and compressing the nerves in my neck. It happens quite a bit.

Try eliminating gluten from your diet. I had the same issues exactly and cutting out gluten helped tremendously. I find it ironic also that as you were eating pizza (full of gluten) it started. Try it out! It’s not as hard as you think.

I started with severe anxiety when I turned 32. I went to every doctor imaginable. They found nothing. My GP put me on Xanax. I was calmer but still had symptoms as described. Doctor took me off Xanax cold turkey. I ended up in an psych ward for 2 weeks, and talked with psychiatrist. I then was put on the correct anti-anxiety meds. That was 40 years ago. Still have anxiety, but now manageable.
It is a disease many suffer from.
Talk to someone professional and get proper care.

I got like that when my Blood pressure medicine was to much for me. They had me on 2 different ones. When I told my doctor he took me off one. I am much better now.

I had migraines for 30 years. Finally went to pain management got on the right medications. You don’t have to suffer. Good luck to you. Right now I think you need to get checked out with a good doctor to run some more tests

try chiropractic… used to get migranes… tried everything, mri, skull series xrays, allergy tests, medications… nothing worked. had been up all night with a headache and told my wife to find a chiropractor… within 5 or 10 minutes of getting my neck adjusted the headache was gone… check it out…

Was told years ago I had tension head aches, later on I got migraines , I take meds for it , go to get second opinion for sure

Sounds alot like how I would get. It was anxiety and panic attacks. I ruled everything else out then went on medication and am totally a different person now.

I had the same symptoms for years. I finally got diagnosed with occipital neuralgia. Had to get shots at the base of my head every three months. After a year and 1/2 it went away. I still get migraines every once in awhile, but I go to ER and get a shot of toroidal and it’s helps tremendously.

Start keeping a journal. Note time of day, how much sleep you got, food and drink and weather along with stress level. Sounds like migraines and they have many triggers. Cheese, low pressure, wine, stress.

You listen to your gut!!!Go to another doctor if necessary. Many of your symptoms sound like a migraine which can present many of the things you are having, however, I am not a doctor. Don’t hesitate to advocate for yourself. Hope things improve🙏

Sounds like migraine which is giving you panic attacks. You should go to your doctor and not take advice from FB comments. If your Doctor is not listening and acting for you find another - find a female doctor they won’t make you feel bad and are more likely to listen.

See a chiropractor or osteopath who practices “cranio-sacral therapy.” You won’t be sorry! Good luck!

Check for celiac disease or gluten or dairy allergy … my daughter has celiac and when she accidentally eats gluten she gets migraines and passes out

Certain foods & beverages cause me excruciating headaches. Also perfumes, laundry detergents, fabric softener, most preservatives in foods, etc!

You have to follow thru!! Get new doctors and keep up until you find out what’s going on… Neurologist and Cardiologist should be seen as soon as you can. Write down when symptoms occur, and what you were doing.

Try SaltStick caps on Amazon and see if those help. Read the reviews, lots of people had these same symptoms as you. Definitely follow up with your doctor too.

It sounds like the migraines I used to get.

Don’t lie down and take it. I had issues with headaches and nausea and vomiting. Ended up in ER dehydrated 3 times…Did not know what it was but now diagnosed with polycythemia very and keeping my blood count down, no more headaces or vomiting. Not to suggest you have that diagnosis but to say there is mostly something causing it and there may be something that can be done. When I had them I put soft ice bag at the base of my neck or sometimes on the top of my head…It helped

I have had migraines since the age of 5 and now I’m 71 your symptoms sound just like mine.

Not to be dramatic? 20 percent of the population has anxiety disorders. I’m one of them, get help learning how to cope and how to breathe properly. Learn how to live your life with stress and never judge yourself harshly

I’ve been going through the exact same thing you mentioned, from start to finish, for a year now. Blood work/MRI/CT/X-ray - etc, I’ve had the works done and no answers. Sometimes I find that laying with the heating pad on the back of my neck helps -

Im here if you wanna message and talk about it, I know exactly how you feel.

Have you been to a chiropractor? I used to get migraines that sounded a lot like that. MRI & all that & dr couldn’t figure out why. I suffered with these migraines for a couple years before I went to chiropractor for my lower back. He did X-rays & said my top vertebrae was out. I haven’t had a migraine like I used to get since he adjusted that but I do get bad headaches if my neck is out. If I have a bad headache & go to the chiropractor I feel better immediately after an adjustment.

If you haven’t had blood work done it might be done. Maybe even spinal tap. I say spinal due to certain things can only be caught by that in some cases. Like west Nile virus and occasionally lime disease. I live with West Nile and experienced all of those. Wishing you good healing and answers.

As a Psych NP. I definitely recommend ruling out any medical issues which sounds like you have. And if your CBC with differential lab work is

normal, its not anemia. Make sure you have been tested to rule out any autoimmune or hormonal disorders. If your tests are all normal, symptoms could indicate anxiety. In my experience medication for anxiety only masks the symptoms and should only be used temporarily. Finding a counsellor who deals with anxiety to help identify triggers and to develop coping skills is a great option for anxiety. If uncomfortable with therapy, yoga classes and or Tai Chi are excellent classes to help with stress. Hope this helps.

Go for an eye exam. Saved my life. Similar things were happening to me and they found it . Make sure they check by dialating your eyes. They kept telling me it was stress and it wasn’t

I agree with everyone saying you need to keep talking to medical professionals. It can be so discouraging when the answers aren’t readily available, but for your own sake, you need to push on. I would also recommend journaling. Symptoms, Activities (just before an attack), Food… The point of journaling is that you’re looking for a pattern. And it can be the smallest thing. One thing I’m wondering… Which comes first, the pain or the anxiety? It can be hard to tell because they feed off each other. But in terms of treatment it can make a big difference. Keep a detailed journal, even if it seems silly at times. And take it with you every time you go to the doctor. Try different doctors if you have to. Pain Specialist, Neurologist, Orthopedic (spine)… The body is a tapestry. Pulling one string can trigger something somewhere else. But keep trying. The pattern is there, somewhere. You just have to find it. Good luck!

I was diagnosed with vertigo which symptoms are similar. Medication and exercise have helped.

When I get like that sounds like panic attacks . Reading about it helps alot of water and have a day to just catch up on sleep and relax . Than try deep breathing focus on exhaling cause inhaling comes naturally. And sometimes only way to feel better is to lay on the floor .

I used to get migranes all the time. Couple diff docs nothing came of it. Turned out I wasn’t drinking enough water… was dehydrated. Haven’t had one since…

By the way I went to see a therapist and that’s how I started to get better I could see the things through him that was stressing me out and it helped a bunch

Are you menopausal? I experienced this when I started my next chapter.

100% me! Ended up anxiety and cholesterol now that I’m on meds it’s a lot better, no more wondering what’s wrong :slightly_smiling_face: and yes definitely stress …

Could be pinched nerves in your neck and spine

Sounds like something to do with your brain stem which controls breathing

Sounds like the panick attacks I get. Also carry alot of tension in my neck . I take lorazepam and seems to keep it in check

Get a different dr, destress, could be something as simple as anemia.

Low iron dehydration do you drink lots of water I get dizzy if I don’t drink enough but have you had iron checked don’t feel silly going to doctor if you want get second opinion from other doc

Could you try chirpractor or acupuncture would help too for this

You need to have a full blood panel done. It could just be something you’re lacking. The lab results will speak volumes.

Ask for an mri of your spine and a spinal tap to rule out meningitis.

Go to Doctor …don’t count on listening to people…And if you’re not satisfied with the Dr. Get a second opinion.

Try another doctor. Neurologist or neurosurgeon. There is something wrong.

Chairi malformation. Check it out. I had several mri before mine showed up. Try an MRI/MRA

I had covid and had dizziness and pounding headaches.

Do you remember any injury around the time your headaches started? A fall, pulled muscle, bump on the head? It wouldn’t have to be a major injury. I have chronic headaches caused by TMJ (Jaws). I was misdiagnosed for almost 10 years despite having my childhood dental records discussing the TMJ. Got treated for many types of headaches, BUT I am NOT a doctor. Headaches don’t just start and never stop. Based on where on your head they don’t sound like tension headaches. Those typically will be on the top of your head. Migraine would be on the side (Temple area, feels almost like the back of your eyes) Cluster headaches are a more severe form of tension headaches. Another question. Are you light sensitive and/or odor sensitive since these started? If you are tell your doctor. The other part: Stress/Anxiety. How long have you been dealing with it? Was it an issue before the headaches? If not, the headaches can definitely cause stress and anxiety, and vice versa. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT BEING DRAMATIC. ASK YOUR DOCTOR TO HELP FIGURE THIS OUT. I know what it’s like being ignored, told it’s a mental thing, being accused of seeking drugs. I have not been headache free for the majority of my almost 57 years of life. I had a great career, had to stop working. If your doctor doesn’t know what to do ask for a referral to a headache specialist, not just a neurorologist. Be careful with chiropractors. My deceased husband had been seeing one for many years, told him about me. The Chrio said he wanted to check things and made an adjustment WITHOUT my permission and made things worse. Then there is my cause. Are your jaws sore when you wake up in the morning? have you noticed if you grind and clench your teeth? TMJ headaches can mimic migraine but treatment is different. With migraine there is a vessel or artery, not sure which that tightens. Meds to open that help migraines. With TMJ it is mostly muscular, but more or less in the same place as migraine in most patients. There are some that get headache pain elsewhere. Ask your husband if you grind or clench when you sleep. AGAIN, think back, ask your husband, other people if they or you remember any kind of injury. I really hope this helps.

Need second opinion and CT scan of head

Google Basal Artery Migraine. See if it fits.

My best advice…see another doctor, and keep seeing doctors until they figure it out. You know when you aren’t feeling right. Don’t let anyone tell you that nothing is wrong with you when you know that there is. If you have to see 20 doctors until you get an answer, then do it.

Try acupuncture treatment… it will work

How old are you. It could be the onset of menopause
