Do babies born at 37 weeks need the NICU?

i had my daughter at 38 weeks and she was fine.

If you are questioning your Drs opinion. Then perhaps you are not confident enough in her/him.

Both of mine were born at 37 weeks 5 days. Neither needed NICU, both were jaundiced and had low blood sugar due to my gestational diabetes.

One of my closest friends just had one at 34 weeks last week. He spent six hours in NICU running tests and went home with mom. He was jaundiced as well, but they actually sent the bilibed home with her.

Every baby IS different, but most born at this gestation are perfectly healthy. You got this mama.

Everything will be fine. May have to do amniocentesis to check for lung maturity…

My daughter was an emergency C-section at 37 weeks and her weight was 3.74kg and she was very healthy. It all depends op the weight and developmental stage the baby is at.

All about the lungs …will give you a steroid shot beforehand

Depends on baby’s respiratory status.

All 3 if mine were 37 weeks, all just fine

No my son was big an had to come early

Nothing happens after 36 weeks

It really depends but more than likely he will be fine to latch and to come home. Your right there at the finish line with development. I had my daughter at 25 weeks and she was 14.6oz. She did spend 5.5 months in the Nicu tho. But she is now a healthy 2 year old.

My grandson was born at. 35 weeks and he wasn’t in the NICU and my daughter didn’t even have any prenatal care.

Mine was 37 weeks and he was perfect in every single way. 7lbs 8oz. 21.5 inch

It depends on the baby my boys were each born at 36, 38 and 39 weeks and all of them needed the ICU

My second child was 38 weeks. They say 38-42 weeks is normal. My first child was at 37 weeks because I didn’t have enough amniotic fluid. That was scary but he is perfectly fine no NICU needed he was just underweight. I hope you have a healthy happy baby.

I had my twins at 36 weeks and both did not need NICU, I got shots to help develop their lungs at 33 weeks (maybe that helped) but both had good weight 2.5kg (around 5.5lbs)

37 wks is ok…baby could be in nicu for many other reasons, not related to being delivered at 37 weeks, mainly blood sugar issues due to diabetes, he may need more than just breast feedings if his sugar is unstable foe a few days. A few bottles will not interfere with breast feeding!!! Babys well being and good health comes first.

every baby is different. Good Luck

Every baby is different, so there’s no real way of knowing when it comes to pregnancy with complications. Might need to be in special care if baby’s blood sugars are off
