Is it true that after getting periods girl’s height stopped growing? And is it normal for girls to start periods at the age of 9?
Definitely not, periods starting age is unrelated. Women stop growing vertically about 14-15 regardless of periods. Then you grow out like boobs hips ect in your 20s. Periods usually start 10-13 so that is years before
Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. Do girls really stop growing after they start their period?
Not true.
And yes it’s fine
I’ve never heard this. I started my period at 12 ish, I didnt stop growing until I was at least 19 and I’m 5’9". I know I wasnt 5’9" at 12.
No. If your concerned please talk to the childs Pediatrician (if you are the guardian)
They can give you better insight
I started mine at 13 when I was 5’6”…… I’m almost 30 and 5’10”
Also as time has gone on, it has become more of the average for girls to start their period younger
yes many girls get period early.
Their growth is mostly, by not all, done by then usually. Puberty is starting earlier on average than it used to.
9 years old is way early I’ve never heard of that, I didnt start until 13 and I didnt stop growing height wise until about 20 years old
No it’s not… You stop growing at 18yrs the you full grown, period doesn’t affect your growing rate…
Usually it’s a out a year after menarche the epiphysys of the bones seal off and growth stops.
No you can grow after you get your period. Yes it is normal to get your period around 9 yr. Old
It’s early but it’s normal and females don’t stop growing between 18-25
Yes on starting at 9 I was 10
I stopped at 5’3 at the age of 12 due to getting mine so early. I was 8 when I started. It is called precocious puberty.
My daughter started at 8. However, she is pretty tall for her age(5’4"). When we went to a specialist, he told us she can grow another 4-5 inches after starting her period.
I stop growing hieght wise at 15 but I don’t think women don’t stop growing til 23
No, you do not stop growing after your period.
Also it seems girls are getting younger and younger with getting their periods so 9 seems to be decent.
I had my period when I was 9 or 10, and I stopped growing height wise in seventh grade.
I started when I was 10 and it was pretty well developed for my age at nine years old. As far is growing height wise, nowhere near being done. They are just pretty much getting started at that age.
What??? Lmao!!!
That is 100% untrue.
I am 5’11" now, and I wasn’t at age 13 when my periods began! It is the “new normal” for girls to start having periods around the age of 9…some(although rare) even have them earlier!
I started at 11. Stayed the same size (5’ even) til 15 and had a growth spurt (to 5’3"). Had another growth spurt at TWENTY and ended up 5’5". Depends on the person.
My mom was nine, I was 14. I was done growing but I think that had a lot to do with my age. We’re all short but that runs in our family. So she probably grew a little bit more
My daughter started her period in the 7th grade she was 5’6 she is now a senior and is 6’ tall. She wants another inch but probably won’t get it basketball player
No i got mine in 4th grade. My last growth spurt was before starting 7th grade.
Growth plates typically start to close 1.5 years after a girls first menstrual cycle
Been 5’2 since the fourth grade. Which is when I started
I think most girls stop growing in height around 14 or 15 years old, regardless of when they start menstruating.
Idk but I got my period at 9
From what I remember
I’ve been the same height since 5th grade
I’m 5’3
They will continue to grow
Got mine at 12 and grew like a weed still
I stopped growing at 10 (only 5’1") and didn’t start my period till I was 14
My daughter started her period at 11. She was 5’6, at 14 she’s now 5’9 and still growing according to her doctor
I’ve been 5’4 since 5th when I started
I got mine a month before my 9th birthday. Forever 4’9 but my family is not tall. I’m just the shortest.
I doubt it. My kid started may 2019 and she’s grown a lot this year
I think everyone is different. Satistically they say females stop growing around 1.5 years after their first menstrual cycle.
It is thought girls stop growing two years after the date of their first period. This is a genuine rule of thumb though!
I was told by my daughters Dr, you stop growing 2 years after your first period
I got mine at 10. But I continued to grow up until o was 13/14.
Idk who told you girls stop growing height when they get their periods, but don’t trust anything else they say. It’s possible for a 9yo to get their period. Uncommon though.
It can be normal for her to start at 9. We normally stop growing around 25.
I always heard it was 2 years after you start but who knows
I got mine at 11 and I still grew until I was 14 or 15.
I got mine at 9 and continued to grow.
No. They still grow. you should talk to her dr.
It’s normal for a girl to start her period at 9 usually they say that about 9-11 is when girls start it but some start it early. My bd’s stepdaughter started her period at 7yrs old. Everyone is different
Women grow till 21 and a period is relatively normal for 9.
Boys stop growing at 18 just FYI in case you don’t know
no. My daughter has grown almost a foot since she got her forst one.
I started mine at age 9 as well. And I grew to be 5’1 lol
I got mine at 11 and didn’t ever get any taller lol
I started at 9. Was fully developed and didn’t grow much after that. Everyone is different
According to my daughters Dr, they continue to grow for the next two years after starting. And nine isn’t too early
that is not true. if it were is still be 4’11 like I was at 12 lol. I’m 5’3" which is short but genetically unsurprising bc my mother is also 5’3".
I got mine at 9 and continued growing until about 12-13
No they don’t stop growing when they get it and yes 9 is normal these days
I started and stopped growing at the same time
I started mine when I was 9
I was 5’5 when I was 12 and started. I’m 5’10 now.
I started mine at 10 and I grew about 5 more inches. From 4’10” to 5’3”
I stopped growing at age 10, period at 13.
My daughter period at 11 and still growing. She is already 2 inches taller than me
No that’s not true I started at 10 and kept growing for a few more yrs… I’m now 5 11
No… my daughter has grown a few inches since she started hers a year ago.
No ma’am. People grow until their late teens, sometimes even early 20s
No you dont stop growing until your early 20s late teens
I started mine about 9 years old and grew to be 5 5 and a half
if this were true id be 4’9 im 5’3
When girls start their periods the bone ends are covered due to the hormones, I believe it is called the epifisus. When this happens they stop growing. For some reason boys are different and can grow till late teens.
Started period at 13 and stopped growing at 13 i was 5"9!
Most pediatricians will tell you girls will reach their height a year after they start their period. But nowadays girls are getting their periods at younger ages and it may be off by a year or two. Most girls stop growing by age 14-15.
My 8 year old just got her period last week. I called her pediatrician and she said it was definitely on the lower range of normal but still normal and wouldn’t be concerned.
My 12 year old got hers about 6 months ago, she’s still growing like a weed and already taller than me!
My son n daughter both 5"7, I’m 5’8/2, i used to be 5"9!
No. My daughter started hers when she was 11 and wasn’t even taller than me at that point. She’s taller than me now at 14 years. I’m 5’2" I assume she’s about 5’4" now
My daughter got hers at 12, she’s 5’4/ 5’5 already. I don’t think they just stop growing then…
At 12 years old i was chubby, at 13 i grew taller to 5"9, went from ugly duckling to beautiful swan within one year self conscious how tall I had gotten, as well as slim
I think they grow until their body regulates then they stop.
No, my niece is 13 ans started her period at 11 and she is still growing
It was true for me, but that’s not to say it’s the norm. I reached my adult height at 10-11 years old
My daughter’s pediatrician told me that on average girls stop growing 2 years after they start their period.
The answers are No. No. And Yes it is possible to start at 8 and 9 years of age.
I think you have two years after you get ur period
My daughter got hers young and she only 4’9 n will not be getting any taller according to her bone scan xray.
They definitely don’t start growing when their periods come and 9 is fairly normal
I started mine at 13 and at 14 I grew 6 inches
No, girls continue to grow heightwise up to about 18 years old, on average. Some stop sooner, some get a bit taller. But by 21 they are done.
I’ve heard that before as well, I’m not sure girls stop growing completely but I started my period at 9 years old and have literally been the same height ever since
I don’t think so. I still grew for 3 years or so after I got my period at 11. And yes it’s normal for a girl to get her period at 9. Some girls hit puberty earlier than others and some hit it later
No. I got mine at 9 and continued to grow until I was in 9th grade
Girls can start their period at different ages, while 9 seems young it can happen. Girls continue to grow for years after they get their period.
Lol no, I’m mot the same height i was at 9
Our doctor said they will have growth spurt prior to first menstrual, and they will continue growing at a slower pace for a year following their first cycle.
Definitely not, thank god, I’d be so short🤣 I was 11 when I started and not even 5 ft tall🤣 it’s 16-18 for girls and then 17-20 for boys I believe that they stop growing.
I started mine at 13 and continued to grow at 17 and 18
I started my. When I was 9 years old I’m 66 years old now and I’m 5 foot tall
Uhhh if I stopped growing when I started my period I would have been 4’11…. Im currently 5’10
Lol no. I started when I was 10…
Umm no it’s not true
