I didn’t stop growing until I was 30.
I am way bigger now then i was at 8
So no
Started when I was 10 and didn’t stop growing until I was 17/18.
I got mine at 10 and I think I stopped growing a bit later after that
Usually they stop growing a yr or 2 later.
I was 9 and 4’11 when I started my period. Im now 5’10 so I didn’t stop growing at all lol.
I would be like 4 feet tall lol. I was 10 when I got mine. I’m short but I’m not ten year old short lol
I heard you grow for about 2 more years.
I have been 4’11" since 6th grade
No, they say that about two years after you start your period that you are ABOUT at your fully grown height. You can still grow after that two years but as a general rule you won’t grow much after then.
I’ve read that growth tends to end about 2 years after the first period. I think it depends on each person’s body chemistry and genetics though, no one person is the same. I got mine just before I turned 12 and stopped growing that year, I’m 5’0. My oldest was 10 and a half and has grown 2 more inches so far. My youngest just started at 12 so we’ll see.
I was always the tall kid i n elementary and then I just stopped growing in middle and high school. I got my period at 9.
No. I was in my 20s when I stepped up to 5’ 5".
No. My girls started at 10 and they both kept growing after that. Same for me. We’re short but that’s genetics, not menses. Lol
Not true my daughter started yrs ago and grown almost 2ft since
I got mine at 12 I was 4’11 and stopped growing at 14 being 5’0
I started at 9 and stopped growing when I was 13 at 5’4" with a DD cup
Since then all my “growing” has been horizontal

Lol my 17 yr old is almost 6ft. She started at 9.5 but it was very intermittent because she plays bball.
I did but everyone is different and I’ve known plenty of girls to keep getting taller.
No!!! My child started hers nearly a year ago
Lol shes still growing!
My daughter started hers this year at 9 also. And she is tall herself.
Your body physically finishes growing vertically in females around 18 give or take a few. Your brain around 21. You grow in all other directions forever.
I don’t think so…I’m short so my girls will most likely stay short too but my 14 yr old is taller than me. Pry 4’10” so if she grows anymore it will be very little. She started hers at 12. My 10 yr old started hers back in March and had a growth spurt over the Winter and is almost 4’9” which is my height lol guessing she will grow a little more and pry be taller than her sister.
I started at 9, grew very little after. I’m 4’11”.
My daughters doctor said after they start their period they only grow another 3 inches at the most
No definitely not. My twins started their period at 9 and are now 12. They have not stopped growing, if anything they grew more once their periods started.
Both of my daughter started at 8. My oldest is 12 now and shes just as tall as I am now.
No that is not true at all. Girls can start their period really early but they keep growing til like 21 I believe
My daughter was 8 1/2.
Our pediatrician said girls have a growth spurt once they start their period and typically stop growing 2 years after that.
Never heard of that but I got mine at 8 and stopped growing at 10. I’m 4’5 (I come from a short family)
No my daughter started a couple years ago and she 14 still not done growing
Not true. Got my period at 10 and still grew like 4-5".
No… I started at 10 in 4th grade. I stopped growing in 6th grade
I went into high school 5’3" and came out 5’6". Started my period at 11.
… did a man write this?
No that’s not true! Children stop growing at age 21! It is normal to start that young she would be an early bloomer!!! Just make sure she is taking care of herself and understands that the WHOLE population will see her as a young woman now!!!
What my mom did for me: 1 rose to represent the woman I had just become. 1 bag of m&ms (of my preferred kind) for the child I would always be.
This made it a better memory then what would have happened!! I plan to do it for my daughter when she starts!!!

Yes, for the period and she could keep growing until around 16.
Both my daughters and granddaughter started at 9. But they didn’t stop growing lol
Nope I certanly grew after as did my girls my youngest by another foot.
Yes it’s normal for girls to start their periods at the age of 8, actually, and no the rest is not true.
Girls are getting their periods younger and younger. They are claiming it’s because of the hormones in meat. That’s their best guess
I started my period days before my 10th birthday. I stopped growing by my 11th birthday. My daughters D-1 started at 11 and stopped growing at 14. D-2 started at 10 and stopped growing at 13.
It is different for everyone but genetics play a huge part. Most Doctors still say approximately 1-2 years after the first period they will stop.
I was 5’6 when I started and grew to be 5’11…. Soooooo for me, the answer is no! Age for age 9 menses…. It happens! Some older, some younger
Well, mine started at 11 and while I am not vertically gifted, I can confidently say that I am taller than the average 11 year old.
My daughter started hers at 10 and her doctor said she’ll only grow for about 2 more years. She said girls usually stop growing around 2 years after. She also said it was normal for her age bc I thought 10 was really young. It was news to me she also said not to take her to a gyn until she was around 18 or sexually active (I asked what the appropriate age was bc I wasn’t sure with her starting her period).
I mean for me I don’t think I grew after I started mine at 9, I think 9 is quite common to start maybe a little early but I’ve heard a lot of people have started then, maybe I was destined to be small
Both my girls stopped growing 2 years after their periods started, so did I . I started at 13, my oldest started at 13 and my youngest started at 11. They haven’t grown at all they are now 18 and 21.
Growth and periods are a different thing
Getting your period at nine is normal as well
For all of y’all saying its not true maybe it wasnt in your experience but I was the tallest kid in class until I hit my period then I never grew anymore. Dont make fun of the OP just cause you had a different experience
The endocrinologist I worked for always said girls grow for a year after they start their period.
Precocious puberty is 7 and younger, normal puberty is 9+, and in between is early but not worrisome. According to my pediatrician at least.
My daughter started her period at 8. A disaster! Now I’m keeping my eye on her 7 yr old who seems to be developing in a similar path but with more hips and butt and a smidgen less breast than her mom (at this time anyway).
I started my period when I was 9yo. I had extremely heavy flow. It wasn’t until I was 17 I was diagnosed with a pituitary microadenoma, elevated prolactin. Had I been taken to a doctor it would have been diagnosed much earlier.
My advise is any medical questions should be left to the professionals.
I got my period in 5th grade and I was the same height as my mom, 5’2” and I’m 5’8” as an adult. I remember buying a pair of really awesome bell bottom jeans in 6th grade (the late 90’s hippie comeback ) and I got to wear them like 3 times before they were high waters . Then I bought another pair that were not as cool and got to wear them about 5 times before my hips showed up . By that time I was broke and was stuck with whatever my mom bought me at Walmart!!!
Everyone is different regarding genetics. I got my period at 13 (my mom 14) and while my height stayed the same, my boobs and curves were still developing in my 20s! 9 is considered normal for some girls, but remember they’re still kids
No girls do not stop growing once they get their periods. I was 5’7” when I was 11 and got my first period. I didn’t stop growing till I hit 5’10ish”. 9 is a little young but usually follow after the maternal line. My mom started at 11, my grandmother same age and on and on.
I am 75yo and I started my period in the summer before I turned 11 in September. So much for the theory of hormones in the meat. I lived on a small farm and we slaughtered our own animals for meat, beef, pork and poultry. If I grew any more after that it wasn’t very much, n because I topped out at 5’ 0" and that’s where I still am.
I think some people do and some don’t. Ive never heard that before. I’ve always said I haven’t grown since 8th grade and I’ve never thought about why.
I got my first period at 12/13 and I was about 5’6, but I grew to 5’8 in the next few years. Then when I turned 18 I hit 5’9, and I’ve stopped growing now.
I was 9 when I had my first period. At that age I was about 5ft. By my late teens I was 5ft 7 so I didn’t stop growing.
My sister and I stsrted same yr, she was 9 , me 13… 9 is rare but it happens. She got taller. Me a shorty never reached 5 feet grew maybe an inch taller
I’m not sure of the science behind it all as that is not my profession, however I am now 27, almost 28 and I had my first period at 11 and have remained approximately the same height (5’0").
Idk but I got my period at 9
From what I remember
I’ve been the same height since 5th grade
I’m 5’3
Never heard of anyone not growing because of your period. People have started their period at 8yrs old, so that’s not uncommon at all
I was 10 when I got my period. I stopped growing at like 18-19 lol. Maybe longer.
No, girls do not stop growing once they get their first period, they continue to grow throughout puberty, average age of first period is 9-15 but other changes such as breast growth and armpit hair usually come first and changes in height and hip width start later (peak rate of change tends to be at about 11.5 years old but the end of puberty in girls is hard to define). Starting your period earlier is linked to lower height and higher weight by age 18, so girls who hit puberty earlier are likely to grow less, have a higher BMI and end up shorter than girls who mature later in their teen years, but they are unlikely to actually stop growing until a fair bit later after that first period.
Source - several, Uni student and just finished a paper on female adolescent development
I am 89 yrs old. Menses started for me at 14. I had grown to 5’ 1" by that time and grew no more after that. 14 and older was the common age to reach puberty 75 years ago. It is shocking to me to hear of 8 and 9 year olds beginning puberty because they are still young children. It seems to have been a slow process of girls being younger and younger at the beginning of their period over the years. My thought has been could this be happening because of the chemicals and additives in the foods we eat? There are hormones also in meats. What if a small 9 year old is impregnated, how could she be expected to give birth ?
I got mine around 9 and grew about 6 more inches. I was already very tall for my age. I’m about 5’6"
I still grew (vertically) until my early 20s. Still only 5’3 though…
I was 11 when I started still grew until I was about 14ish
I started my period at 8 and stopped growing when I was 12
I was 9 when I started. I kept growing. Your Period doesn’t stop you growing. I’m not very tall, but I’m definitely taller than 9yr olds.
It’s different for everyone - I started at 12 but someone else could start at another age
9 is very common and you will grow after lol
I started at 8 years old, stopped growing at 15
I grew 4 inches between age 14 and 17.
Idk I got my period at 11 but also stopped growing taller then too. I have been 5 ft 6 since the 5th grade lol
You stop growing roughly around 19yo thereabouts and 9yo is relatively normal
Growth plates close 2 years after a girl starts her period
And also, 9 is absolutely within the normal range
Well, I got my period at 8. I didn’t stop growing. But, the early age is not normal.
My sister started her period when she was 8!
I got my period at 11. But actually stopped growing when I got pregnant at 17.
They don’t stop growing until about 18. But their biggest growth spurt is during puberty.
I started my cycle at 8 its normal
I know girls who started at 9. They did NOT stop growing. Girls mostly stop growing around age 16-17.
I heard you keep growing for 1-2 years after period
I’ve been the same height since 3rd grade. Had my period a week before my 8th b-day.
I am a guy but i have heard that girls mature fast then boys and go thru puberty earlier then boys do that is what my sex ed teacher said when i was in high school.
I was 9 and peaked at 5"3 by the time I was 10/11.
No. I got mine at 12 and I was 5’0 I grew to 5’4 you technically stop ‘developing’ around 23 I think?
My daughter continued to grow n started her period at 12 m yes some girls do start as young as 9 or 10
Usually girls height grow till they attain the age of 18
The hormones in the food cause early puberty…
I started at age 9 my daughter 10
I had my period at 9 and kept getting taller.
I was 11 when I started mine… & iv made it to 5’3
