Does bleeding early in pregnancy always mean a miscarriage?

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and experience heavy bleeding yesterday. I went to the emergency and baby still had a heart beat. All night I was cramping and started bleeding again but no clots. Just looks like a period blood. I have an appointment for follow up Monday and im so scared? I don't know if I should prepare myself for the worst. Has any moms experience bleeding during pregnant and have a healthy baby?

I had a bleed at 13 weeks, it was in implantation bleed…
get in touch with your doctor and get checked out… always

I bled so much with my middle son. I thought for sure I miscarried. Went to the ER and he had a heartbeat thank god. I bled on and off the rest of my pregnancy. He was born at 39 weeks and healthy!

Could be a Subchorionic hemorrhage

I did at 8 weeks and everything was fine.

I bled in both my pregnancies in 1st trimester, it was a hematoma and didn’t cause any issues

No it doesn’t always mean a miscarriage, it could indicate you were on your feet too much yesterday. Try and take it easy and if the bleeding doesn’t stop or you start to experience clots bigger than the size of a quarter then go back to the ER. Don’t wait for the doctor on Monday.

Look up subchorionic hematoma! I had one at 13 weeks and a couple days. I bled and I’m still spotting brown now, I’ll be 15 weeks tomorrow. Take it easy! Be on pelvic rest. No intercourse or outercourse (orgasms can cause your uterus to contract). Also, no strenuous activities or heavy lifting (anything over 20lbs).

Possibly placenta previa.

Not always, I had plecenta previa with my daughter which I bleed they gave me rogham and now I have a subchorionic hematoma during this pregnancy but haven’t bleed but I could. I’d wait till your follow up until then take it easy. Good luck.

It’s not uncommon but also it’s better to be safe then sorry about anything even if it’s a UTI, stress related, or just spotting which is common because your body makes more blood then it usually does okay mamas it wouldn’t hurt to get it checked out❤️

Make an appointment with your obgyn

I spotted with my first pregnancy. Baby was full term and healthy. Then with my third pregnancy I bled to the point where I felt there was no other reason besides I was having a miscarriage. Turns out baby was just fine …. Actually I was pregnant with twins! Carried to 38 weeks and both were born healthy with no medical problems whatsoever. I WAS NOT pregnant with more - there was no miscarriage at all. No medical explanation for the bleeding.

Yes!!! I always had bleeding. I would go in and they could never figure out why. I have 5 kids that came out all healthy.

I bled like crazy with my second son, I thought for sure I was having a miscarriage…they put me on bed rest for 2 weeks…he is currently arguing with me and will be 15 in a few months. Call your Dr, drink lots of water and rest!

Yeah she’s almost seven full of life rn

Take it easy do less a possible. I had Early bleeding when I was pregnant my baby is now 24 years old

Not always. When I was pregnant with our youngest about 6 weeks in I started bleeding. At first it was really heavy and it lasted for about two weeks and towards the end it got lighter. Heartbeat was still there all my levels were good. Our daughter is now six and healthy.

I didn’t bleed with my pregnancies but in both miscarriages it was bleeding but LOTS of blood clots. I know this is kind of gross but they were large clots and I could feel them come out if I coughed or sneezed or even strained the littlest bit… this was in my case but I hope this just gives you a tiny piece of mind. Again everyone’s miscarriages can be different but mine was bleeding with heavy heavy clots

I did, perfectly happy healthy baby!

Yep I had bleeding for four days like a full period my daughter now three

I bled and it was a hematoma. I bled bad. Thought I was having a miscarriage. It was like that my whole pregnancy.

Might be placenta previa

Yes I had bleeding around when I should have had my period with my twins; light spotting at a couple months with my daughter. All came out big and healthy. I hope everything’s going to be ok with you.

Yes I bled for the first 3 months…my twins turned 8 last Thursday.

I had my period the first 4 months of my pregnancy. Everyone is different. Contact your baby Dr and go see them as soon as you can just to get checked out. But it is possible to have a cycle and be just fine

My last pregnancy I bled, went to the hospital, they called it a “spontaneous abortion” but there was still a heartbeat…SHE IS STARTING KINDERGARTEN NEXT WEEK AND WAS BORN PERFECTLY HEALTHY AT 39 WEEKS.

i had a subchorionic hemorrhage

Hematoma? Experiencing it now I’m 25 weeks baby is growing fine. Just on bedrest

No it doesn’t always mean that. I bleed in my first trimester with all 4 of my kids. Take it easy and don’t worry Yourself stress isn’t good for the baby. Good luck momma

Not always. Take it easy and follow up with your OB

Sex can cause bleeding sometimes in pregnancy.

I bleed they found I had placenta previa and I had c section twice

I bled my whole pregnancy. Turned out I had a blot clot between my uterus and placenta that was causing my bleeding. I was labeled a high risk pregnancy. And had a ton of limitations. In fear of the blood clot moving and detaching the placenta. But I had a healthy full term baby girl who is now 5.

I did every trimester change. I also had a subchoronic hemorrhage at 13 weeks.

I bled every month with my last pregnancy. Carried full term.

Not always a miscarriage. I bleed early on in both of my pregnancies, causing me to be put on bed rest for the whole thing and see high risk ob though… I had a miscarriage when I was younger and the bleeding was much much different it was a lottttt of blood then.

Could also be a hemorrhage which is common. I had bleeding with my daughter’s pregnancy around that week.

13 weeks on the dot with my daughter I bled horribly. No known cause. She is now 5!

I did this with my last 2. They’re 8&9. You did right by going to the ER. Follow up with your Dr. Chances are your fetus is fine.

Did they do any blood work at the hospital?

I bled from 13-28 weeks.

Most cases its Subchorionic bleeding… light bleeding with small clots. Caused by the detachment of the placenta from its original site of implantation… so blood is form and start to clot. In this case. Pregnant women are warn to take alot of bed rest and avoid any form of stress or lifting of any heavy items

I did with my 2nd son and he was and is great @50 years old.

I did babe at 19 weeks please stay strong. Even for the best xo I’m preying for you and your unborn bubs. Think positive

My cousin had really heavy bleeding at the beginning of her last Pg. Went to the doctor thinking peri menopausal. Surprise! She did end up having to have a hysterectomy after his birth (no idea if that had anything to do with the heavy bleeding), but he’s a beautiful, healthy, happy 10m old now.

I bled up until I was 16 weeks and they could never figure out why. I had a healthy 9lb baby boy. I know it’s scary but just try and stay positive. If the bleeding gets worse or you just need peace of mind, go back to the hospital if you can’t see your doctor sooner

No I had that at 9 weeks and it was implantation bleeding

I had bleeding throughout the first 2 trimesters and delivered a healthy happy baby! Praying for you mama!

I’ve had a miscarriage before that was deadly so I sadly always prepare for the worse but not saying you should cuz the stress could cause one just stay calm and take it easy until your next appointment :two_hearts:

Daughter-in-law bled baby was fine till next appointment baby had died clot in umbilical cord in three weeks time baby had died when she called they said normal also back pain a week later normal no nothing is normal so this time around we didn’t play no phone games went to see doctor for everything just had baby girl 5 weeks early heathy and fine

I had bleeding up to 12/13 weeks with two of my pregnancies and both came out good healthy size

I started bleeding heavy at 2mths I was outta town and the hospital I went to told me I was having a miscarriage they couldn’t hear the heartbeat so I followed up with my OBGYN the next day and when he put the Doppler on he found the babies heartbeat just like that. I was so relieved and happy . I’m hoping u don’t end up having one. Prayers r with u and ur family :pray:

It didn’t in my case. I went on to make it full term and have a healthy delivery. Never found out why I bled aside from them saying possibly sensitive cervix. I also didn’t bleed a whole lot but it was after implantion bleeding should’ve stopped.

I had a hematoma at 15 weeks and bled a lot with my 4th child. He’s 24 years old now. Rest and hope and get good medical care. Praying

I bled the entire time I was pregnant.

Not always, but go to the ER.

I spotted with this pregnancy in early pregnancy. Scared the poop out of me because we conceived this one immediately after a loss. I am 38weeks with a very healthy girl. If I was you I would request another ultrasound in a few days.

I bled really bad thought and I was having miscarriage. Turned out I had bv and a uti, so not necessarily!

No I bleed for this one and my last one. If ur blood is negative u have to get the rhogam shot just to be safe

I bled like this with both my boys and they are healthy now. Good luck.

I bled at 8 weeks for like 12 hours as if I had my period, my son is 2 at the end of this month❤️ best of luck!

Also depends on how much blood

Did you get vaccinated?

If you’re getting more blood, then I would go. I’m sending positive vibes your way. Miscarriage is the absolute worst and I hope that you don’t have to go through that pain.

With my daughter I had a sub chorionic hemorrhage, I bled consistently from 12-18 ish weeks. I have a healthy almost two year old now!

I bled with subchorionic hematoma‘s my entire pregnancy with my second son.

No…I am RH- and had heavy bleeding with my third. Everything was fine but I was on bed rest for 4 days and had to have a shot earlier than 20 weeks. I was around 12 weeks when that happened. I will say a prayer for you…I know how stressful it is. Maybe calling your OB emergency number would be good.

I’ve had bleeding with and without miscarriage. Just to be safe, rest a lot and don’t have sex until you see your doctor again.

It could me a subchorionic hemorrhage, it’s when your placenta grows or the sack and it moves a bit leaving some accumulated blood behind and your body sheds it. I had it early in my pregnancy but not a lot of bleeding, I have heard however, some cases it can be quite a bit of bleeding and some clots. Stay as calm as possible and pray things will be okay!

I went to the ER for bleeding at 6 weeks and had a sub chronic hemorrhage and bled til 12 weeks and delivered at 38 weeks😃. Prayers to you.

I was almost 5 months and that’s how I found out I was miscarriage ( not saying you are ) I did all the same symptoms

My mom had a “period” for the first 5 months of being pregnant with my brother.

Yes when I had placenta previa

I did too but my placenta reattached itself and attached itself another place. Scared me. Might be the cause

I had a period for the first 5 months with my daughter (2nd born). It was like clock work. Stressing just makes it worse for you and the baby. Easier said than done but try to relax. Try reading a book or binge watching a new show. Something to occupy your mind so you don’t just worry constantly. Best of luck

Yes at 3 months I had a low lying placenta I just had to be careful . I ended up delivering at 34 wks as water broke and then placenta was starting to break away so emergency c sec had a 4.15 lb baby boy and he’s now 35 .

Yes that happened to me my first pregnancy he’s 52 now and a doctor all can be fine in the end he was a full term
Pregnancy

I bled and spotted my entire pregnancy…often had cramping too…just keep an eye out…good luck :heart:

I bleed at 7 weeks went to hospital baby was all good. Now a healthy 3 year old. All the best

If it’s over 24 hours and accompanied by cramping then more than likely it is indeed a miscarriage.

Yes I had heavy bleeding with my second and went to the Doctor naturally and he diagnosed me with a ruptured blood clot. My Son was fine. Bleeding should always be addressed but it doesn’t always mean the worst. Try to breathe and take one step at a time. I wish you the best!

No not always. My best friend had a miscarriage and got pregnant soon after she had heavy bleeding and my sweet lovely niece will be 16 the end of Aug. I cant tell you why as no one could figure it out for her. But we spent many nights in Er in the woman’s center looking for a heart beat and they always found one. The ER Woman’s center was great with us each time and got to know us. As we were both terrified. The nurses were great they would say umm are we here to hear the heart beat and we would apologize and all the nurses would say nope stop apologizing we know its her first and now we are invested as much as you guys. After she had Emily we took her to the ER Woman’s center and showed her off as everyone was so invested. Hang in there Momma snd if you are too scared to wait till Monday go back to the ER that’s what they are there for
Good luck Momma.

Yessss I bled starting at 11 weeks all the way till a little bit before I gave birth at 36 weeks, was told it was a sub chorionic hemorrhage and could possibly miscarry and was put on bed rest, scariest pregnancy ever. Prayers sent your way!

It could go either way… My Sister in Law had a period the whole 9 months of pregnancy and the baby just turned 3 last month…

With one I bled and they told me there was no chance I would keep the baby and sent in a counselor and everything… turns out I was having twins and lost one… but I had to insist on an ultrasound before the alternative because they were saying there was nothing we could do… they were wrong— another kid I bled off and on a lot for the first few months. She was fine. Wishing you the best.

Call you Doctor and see if he can’t see you early

Not always. Infection, blood behind the placenta, and placenta placement can all be causes of bleeding. My third pregnancy I started bleeding may 2nd, enough to need a pad along with mild cramping here and there. I bled for nearly a month (no doctor wouldn’t see me and ignored my concerns we switched providers) I’m now over 20 weeks with a healthy pregnancy.

Not always. I found out at 5.5 weeks I was pregnant, started bleeding a week later, and bled off and on till 12 weeks. I had a subchrionic hemorrhage. My twins are 6.5 and had no compilations, other than that bleeding.
