Does your 4 year old have a TV in their room?

My kids are 7,6&2. My 2 year old is a pro at picking movies and knows how to get on youtube for his learning videos. Would i trust a tv in his room? I sure would as long as parental controls are set and the tv is mounted.

My almost 3yr old has an old vhs playing tv in her room. But it’s something mommy has to turn on so it’s not an all the time thing. Sounds like you want it in there. Do it

I’ve an 8 year old who does not.

No. But he does have a tablet and knows how to turn on and use the tv in the living room.

We have one in my daughters room(which she sleeps with me anyways) so she uses it when I won’t let her watch what she wants on my tv. Which isint to often since she has a tablet.

Negative. My 13 yr old doesn’t either. I don’t even like any electronics behind closed doors. Lots of things get seen that way, even if it’s accidental. Plus, I would just rather them be out in the family area. They isolate themselves as teens anyway. We don’t need to give them a reason to do it so early.

No, because I know it will turn into him not being able to sleep without it.

My four year old has one. I was against it but it was the only way we could get her to go to bed without having to lay in there every night with her for 1.5-2 hours.

We have a small one. Just put it. Only hooked up to a dvd play and yes she is also 4.

My girls share a room (7&2) and they just got one this past summer, but they barely use it lol…I think its your choice.

Mine has one. :woman_shrugging: every child is different. If it makes a difference and helps mama sleep better, then I’d do it. Every time lol

My 4 years old has a tv in his room he gets one show before bed & when its over he turns it off.
When he wakes up he has breakfast & watches tv in the living room. I let my bf sleep in on weekends & our room is beside our sons & he is a light sleeper so I let our son watch in the living room when he wakes up so he doesn’t wake his dad up.

My 2 year still sleeps with us and I actually took my own tv out of my room because I was getting tired of how dependent he was getting with it. So personally I wouldn’t put a tv in his room but that’s based on how he acts and our schedule. If you son is already going in the kitchen for juice can’t see why he couldn’t sit in the living room them, personally I wouldn’t want him bringing drinks and such to his room. But if you want him back in his room until you get up then put one in his room

My 2 and 5 yr old have a tv in their room. They don’t turn it on themselves I keep the remotes put away and I control it. But it’s just so they can watch their shows when I’m watching mine in living room.

My oldest, he’s 14 now, had a TV in his room when he was younger.

My girl had a TV in her room with a DVD player … she learned how to put movies on but it became a bit of a problem as she would stay up late or wake from her sleep to watch movies…so on week nights I put her to bed a little earlier with a movie on but eventually had to take the remotes out of the room…even now that she is 9 I still have to take her remotes out of the room on school nights and on weekends I’ll take it when I go to bed…otherwise she just sneaks it she’ll turn the volume all the way down and put on close caption hahaha…but do whatever works for you…try It out for a while see how it goes.

Nope. My 8 year doesn’t even have her iPad in her room. As an adult I don’t have one in my room either.

I’ve had tv in my room sense I was 2 and never been without one and now my husband and I have one in our room with a Xbox and a 70 inch in our living room and hes fixing get the new Xbox one series but all our stuff is taken care of and our baby will be here in less than a month and she’ll always have a tv also and wont have to worry about earning anything till she’s around 17 just like we was raised.

My kids were 16 and 13 when I finally gave in to them asking for a tv in their room.

my 6 year old has had a tv for a few years with firestick and he watches Disney channel and other kids movies- but he cant do anything unless i take his remote in and put the code in . my 4 year old just got an Xbox a few months ago in his room and they cant play anything until I put the code in it . no one wants to watch pjmask or paw patrol all day long!!!

Yes mine is 2. but it’s only on for maybe one movie a day. It’s a old box tv. We play a movie around 9 am while he is asking his morning play run thru the house. After the movie it cuts it self off. And I won’t touch it again untill maybe 3-4 when my 8yr. Has homework

My son has had one in his room since he was 1

My 3 yr old has a tv

My 3 year old has a tv in her room. She gets 30 min a night. Unless it’s a special (last night, Christmas) it’s up on her wall so she can’t touch it. I have the timer set so when it’s off she’s done. I also keep the remote with me. I have one, as well as my 11 and 15 year old.

My daughter got one at 3yrs old cuz of the same reason(got a new one but nothing wrong with the old one) but she uses it more for movies but hardly. But its nice when she has movie night with her cousins

All my kids have had one since they were 1 in their room

I think there’s a line, I don’t think allowing a child to have a TV in their bedroom is a bad thing, as long as the parents know what’s going on and it’s managed.

My child is 4 she has a tv in her room for movies. There’s no cable or dish hooked to it. She doesn’t watch TV though.

My 4 yr old has one
I am actually a mother against TV in great length but also I understand my son slept in a studio apartment very small with me and his dad so literally every night since birth as he fell asleep he could see or hear a tv so in some way it’s a comfort much like a paci is. However I also make sure that I keep the remote this means he can only watch when I say so and what I say… he’s allowed education shows only an no YouTube or kid streaming type things alpha blocks number blocks and such things are ok. If he gets to mouthy about the tv I simply take it away. I also acknowledge he’s a kid not allow electronic devices of his own whenever he wants etc so the tv is a compromise so he doesn’t feel completely different from digital age kids.

I was against it for a long time. Even my 13 year old didn’t get a TV until maybe a year ago. Now even my toddler has one, granted we only use it when he’s having trouble falling asleep or not feeling well. Sometimes on the off chance he wants to watch something and the living room tv is occupied.

My 2 year old has a tv in her room.

Yes !! Whatever you gotta do

My 10 and 5 year old each have a tv and dvd player in their room. When my 10 year old is ready to sleep he turns it off. My 5 year old falls asleep with it on. A tv timer is handy lol They have to keep tablets and gameboys downstairs though.

My 4 yo has a tv. No cable or internet to it, just DVDs. Unless he is making a huge mess that independence is awesome! Good for him!

My 7 year old has a TV and Nintendo switch in this room as well as an alexa and a tablet. All the toys are in the 5 year olds room.

My children got TVs in their rooms when they each reached 5/6 grade. They were responsible enough to go to the living room and watch tv without waking me up.

My 4 year old has a tv in her room. Shes allowed to watch his be movie before bed (usually falls asleep during the movie) and then in the morning we relax and watch a movie or play in her room before we start our day

At 4 yes my kids had televisions

My 3 year old has had one since he started sleeping in his own bed at 1 1/2. But just be aware that you may have to replace said tv when/if he accidentally breaks it. My son was playing ‘construction worker’ a couple days ago and decided to do a tech service job and ‘fix’ his tv with a toy hammer :woman_facepalming:t2: also if it’s a smart tv I’d make sure he can’t get on Amazon prime and buy/rent an absurd amount of movies.

For me it was difficult until they finally got their own rooms. But my youngest just uses my tv.

My daughter has one in hers and she’s two. It’s got a chromecast so I control what she watches. I’ve got all her learning videos (cocomelon, super simple songs, little baby bum and Blippi) in a play list when she doesn’t watch that it’s a disney movie from Disney plus. She will spend ten or so minutes at a time in there playing dancing and singing but she’s usually still in living room playing with us. I mainly use it to play her hillsong worship music she sleeps with

As long as it’s hung safely and not on a dresser that can fall then I say go for it!

Nope, 8 and still no tv

We have the in every room. People need to realize that just because a tv is there doesnt mean it needs to be on 24/7

Yep, he’s had one since day one.

go for it. my boys got theirs once they had toddler beds

All of my kids have tv in their rooms. They can’t watch it all day long, but it definitely helps for mornings!

Mine had one in his room at 2.

We’ve all got a TV in our rooms

Mine had one at 2 as she would get up EARLY , so she’d watch tv & fall back asleep

She watches learning things on it like cocomelon, little baby bum, wiggles and movies that she likes on it when she wants to watch a movie or lay down she can watch it in her room

None of my kids have TVs in their rooms.

My upstairs has the 4 bedrooms and a larger room that they ALL use with the tv and games. I don’t let them have a tv in their room. I never had one growing up (by choice) and I don’t use the one in my room my husband “had to have.” Kids ages 12, 7, 4, and 2.

My 3 yr old has a tv with a roku. I work the remote and put on what she’s allowed to watch. She watches one move to go to bed

My kids are 9 and 11. Neither will get a TV in their room until they can purchase one. My kids would never be motivated to do anything with a TV in their room. And even if they were responsible enough, they have zero concept of money or bills. I would use a TV as a learning lesson (hence they can’t have one until they can buy their own)

I have one in my room so mine will too, it’s a noise and comfort thing

I dont have a TV in my bedroom and neither do my 7 and 9 yr Olds. I feel like technology shouldn’t be in the bedroom

Our kids always did

I had one son now 15 that never slept. At least with a tv we could sleep. He was like this until 8

I think it just depends on the kid. If u don’t think it will interfere with his sleep or anything then why not.

My 4 year old and 2 years old have a tv in their room that they share, they usually have Disney or pbs kids on it during the day most the time it’s just on and they aren’t watching

Okay ladies. I’m updating my comment after I’m reading these comments. I’m an elementary teacher and Reading Specialist. From birth to 4 years old is literally the time kids are learning the most. They should be pretend reading, using their imagination, playing manipulative games, putting puzzles together, practicing colors, letters, sounds, and learning to draw & write. You need to read to them every day too. They are sponges right now. Please take advantage of this time instead of putting them in front of a tv for hours. A little tv time is fine, but not all day. Put the books and puzzles in their room and let the play with them instead.

I’m pretty old school parenting my kids are almost 16 and almost 14 with bonus children being 9 and 6, we have 1 operational T.V in our house in our lounge room another covered in our bedroom going unused. Kids rooms are used for playing and sleeping T.V is for family movies and shows together and is barely on before 5pm. I don’t allow devices of any kind into bedrooms.

My daughter had one when she was about 3. She used it as background noise while she played. I never had a problem with that. Then she got a few years older. And wanted to spend all her time in bed. Hardly saw her. Now, my almost 13 year old does not have one, and hasn’t since she was 7, and wont again until she is in her own home. I see her more often now. Her attitude has seriously changed, for the better. TV isnt a huge thing in my home, either, though. Too busy with work, school, sports, and the homestead and animals. So when we do actually sit in front and watch something, we prefer to be together. IMHO you do what works for your own household! If it works and is a positive thing for both of you, then do it. If that changes and/or it becomes an issue like it did in my home, then remove it. You do you, quite honestly my opinion or anyone else’s doesnt matter in the long run!

My 3 year old has her own tv and tablet.
