First time staples but they took them out before I left and put dissolvable strips on
My first C section was done in 1988. My incision was up and down not across. Iāve had 5 c sections. 3 with stitches and 2 with staples. Had faster healing with the stitches.
I had disolvable sutures. The only thing I worried with was it busting open.
I had staples with my first c-section. That was in 2003. It was painful and gross. My incision leaked and I had to wear a pad across it for a while. And then of course removing them was uncomfortable. My 2nd and 3rd c-sections (2008 and 2013) they used the dissolving sutures internally and then glue externally. It made it MUCH easier to move around and healing was much faster. The stitches dissolved and the glue eventually washed away.
Iāve had 4 and dissolvable sutures all 4 times.
I didnāt have either. They glued and then used steristrips
They used glue steristrips and disolvable stitches for the inside. Painful but I canāt even imagine staples
Iāve had both. Staples worked better for me. Stitches left me with a horrible infection.
My first, I had staples. Repeat second, I had disolvable stitches. 3 months later I had a complete hysterectomy and had disolvable stitches. The second was so much easier than the first and recovery was easier! Good luck mama, you got this!
My first I had staples and my doctor said for my second he would do the sutures if possible. He wasnāt able to and had the staples again. I had an infection that had to get drained so Iām guessing it was a good thing I had the staples again because if I had the sutures they would have had to remove them to drain the infection.
I have had 5 c-sections the 1st was hard it was a emergency c-section he was stuck and sunny side up they tried everything to get him out so I ended up with a emergency c-sections was 10lbs 10 oz with staples it was so uncomfortable
My second was
8 lbs 12oz
3rd was
12 lbs 3/4 oz
4th
10lbs 2oz
My 5th
8 lbs 4 oz
The rest were fine not staples they were the stitches or tape that dissolved on their own
Let me just say the second time around is so much easier, because youāre more prepared. Healing was even faster for me the second time around. I had dissolvable sutures for both.
I hear itās less painful than staples.
I just bought Hibiclens, and medical tape, and non-stick gauze, and just made sure I kept that areas cleaned and covered for the first 10 days.
I had disolvable sutures. I think.
I didnāt have any issues.
Didnāt have to have anything removed.
My doctor (I had C-section done at a different hospital with a different doctor) was impressed with how they looked on day 4.
Iāve had both. Stapleās was worse for me. Stitches is waaaaayyyy better
Staples for the first 2, sutures for the last 2
My kids are 11 years apart. 01/2007 & 10/2017. I had staples with my first. I know I was going to have sutures with my second, but I tried to prepare myself for the pain that is associated with a C-section. Considering I was almost 11 years older ones worried about the healing process. To my surprise, I was in much less pain and was much more mobile with my second.
I had staples with a PICO dressing on top of it for a week never had any issues had it with both of my csections requested it for the second one
They used disolvable sutures on the inside but I was glued on the outside. I couldnāt imagine staples
1 staples
2 sutures and tape
3 sutures and tape
5 vacuum wound seal
I had glue stables and the dissolvable sutures and of all of those the staples were the worst they left them in to long and had to pull them out of my skin
I had dissolvable stitches for mine, I was extremely sore, but that just comes with the surgery obviously. But they went away pretty fast and after that I had no issues and I healed perfectly! You can barely even see my scar, itās almost like I didnāt even have a csection lol good luck to you!! I hope your recovery goes well
I never had a C section but when i was 15 i had my appendix removed and they cut across my stomach i had disvoable sutures and literally like 3 years down the road i was showering and one long string came out it was so gross lol
Much less pain with the sutures! The staples were awful
Iāve had 4, 1st used sutures and I requested them with the others. Drās usually use staples since itās quicker, but the scarring is worse with staples!
Same thing happened to me. First was with staplesā¦omg no. Second was the dissolvable and it was so much better. I healed better and could move better
I had dissolvable sutures and they put a bandage over the incision with a pump thing. I didnāt have to change the bandage at all. I went in 2 weeks postpartum and the doc removed the bandage and pump and it all looked great! It was a very smooth healing process
I had staples with my first and just like you hurt like crazy. With my second I had glue and WOW what an amazing difference!!
I had dissolvable stitches and steri-strips. I also had a binder. That was a life saver!
I had sutures last year.
Why is it that you need another c-section? I have a c-section in 96, then in 99 a vaginally birth.
I had sutures with my daughter back in 2017. I healed amazing with absolutely no complications. My mom and sister both had staples and both had issues with their incisions healing properly.
I had dissolvable sutures internally and steristrips with surgical glue on the outside.
I had two c-sections. Both staples. I loved them because they were very secure and didnāt hurt removing. However, I couldnāt touch the area for months, even after the staples were out.
Disolvable sutures with PICO dressing. Hands down.
My gynecologist didnāt use any of that. She just glued my incision closed lol and the glue came off in about a month by itself when you showered. But Iām also able to have a vaginal birth with my next child
Mine were Dermabond/glue 8 and 3 years ago.
My sisters a month ago were steri-strips.
I had the dissolved sutures as well.
I had a c-section with my daughter back in June 2021 and they used dissolvable stitches on me and a big dressing afterwards on my scar. Good luck and congratulations xx
Mine was glued shut with an adhesive over it.
Just had my second csection on Monday both were stitched. Pretty easy to take care of. Make sure you dont rub after shower just pat dry. Honestly my boy not latching right and the hormonal cramps are causing wayyyyyyy worse pain than the incision.
I had dissolvable sutures. It was still painful af because itās a surgery site but Iām so glad I didnāt have to go get them removed
My dissolvable sutures opens up after a couple days. I had to go every two days after to have the c section wound cleaned out and patched for months until it healed. I recommend no
Dissolving sutures inside, steri strips on top. Only had one c-section and thatās what My OB did. Happy I didnāt have to get anything removed. Showering was still the most painful experience I had for weeks.
I just had a c section on Friday and all they did was put steri strips on it and sutures on the inside.
With my first, I was glued on the outside and had no complications. The 2nd they used steri strips. I hated them, for some reason they hurt (I think bc of swelling) I begged the dr to take them off and use glue, I had an on call dr who refused. The day after I got home my incision busted open and I had to rush back to the hospital where they removed what was left and glued me shut. Then I healed fine.
I had staples in 2003ā¦
My last two pregnancies in 2016 and 2018 were dissolvable sutures. Those big industrial staples were no joke! I feel your pain!
I have had staples and stitches. Definitely stitches were better then staples.
Dissolvable sutures.
I had 2 sections and dissolvable stitches both times and had no problemās with both tg. Best of luck to u .
Iāve had the dissolvable sutures and just glue with my C sections. I was very comfortable with either.
I have had disolvable stiches 4 times and never had any problems.
Dissolvable stitches are better trust me had them with both my kids and not once a problem
I had both and the sutures were so much better.
I had dissolvable stitches covered with glue
I had staples with all three of mine, but my youngest is 9 1/2 years old, so things have probably changed since then.
I had the dissolvable sutures. Healed really good. I pulled them a few times but never had to have them redone
Iāve used the disposable ones, although I did have two small openings on the outside, one got infected. Not sure if it was directly from the type of suture or maybe I strained the area too mych
For both of mine they used staples
I had staples, butterfly tape ( found out I was allergic when all my skin by my incision came off), and dissloving stitches. The disolving stiches probably were the best.
Sutures and you have the discomfort but I never experienced anything but normal healing.
Both. But they removed the staples right before they released me from the hospital. And then they put steri strips on it.
I had glue, tore my incision picking up my fat baby, donāt recommend!
I had dissolvable stitches surgical glue and butterfly tape
4 x c csection stables 3 x last time was steri- strips.
Staples with my first, left more of a scar. Glue with my second and it looked way better!
I asked for them with my last 2 babies, after the first C-section, I was like no thank you to staples. They hurt so bad coming out. The dissolveable stitches worked great.
When I had my daughter I got staples and in one area the skin grew over ,2 staples it was pure pain but when I had my son 5 yrs later I got the solved stitches, was alot easier but they cut me up and down I didnāt get the bikini cut.
I had dissolvable sutures and a battery pack that was vacuumed sealed on my incision for 7 days.
Dissolvable with a mesh sticky covering that stayed on for 7 days. I had to be careful to not get it wet. And they directed me how to take it off.
Staples with the first, harder time healing and an ugly freaking scar. Glue the second time. I threw up really bad about 14 hours after the surgery and kind of āpoppedā some of the glue but it was definitely better than had there been staples or sutures as those would have actually tore everything and been worse. My second scar looks better and hurts way less after healing than my first did. So I would honestly choose glue again.
Both kids I had dissolve stiches.
With a dressing and a fancy little machine that was hooked to my dressing to keep infection out
I had staples with my first and they hurt so bad, especially when they ripped them out. With sutures it was way nicer with the healing and pain
I had dissolvable stitches inside and glue outside and it hurt, but I recovered well!
I had staples when I got appendix out. I had stitches when I had my C-section. Your incision will still be sore. But from my memory Staples were worse. I can remember a stinging, searing pain every time I moved with Staples.
Suture! I work in surgery and it heals the best and less painful. People only use the staples to save them time and go faster
Stitches r much nicer staples hurt really bad
Steri Strips all 3 times! Sutures only on the inside.
Staples are horrendous, I had an allergic reaction!
Next 2 times, stitches and recovered so much easier and faster opted for them to stitch this time around again and really refused staples.
I got glued both times.
One side of my disolveable switches broke open but they fixed it
I got dissolvable stitches on inside and glue on outside and honestly my recovery wasnāt horrible. Obviously there was pain but it was definitely bearable
Dissolvable sutures. I still couldnāt look at it though for ages.
The recovery with staples is so much worse and painful I think I had two with dissolvable and it was much easier
I had stitches. One of the types of sutures they used on me ended up rejecting from the top surface of my skin and they had to remove them. Apparently I must of had some type of sensitivity to the material they said They said they would note it in my chart now that for future surgeries or pregnancies to use a different type of suture. Not sure if that has happened to any other Mommaās out there but def. Worth mentioning. It was really scary almost 5 days after I had a small tear and could see a hole. They fixed me up but scary nonetheless.
Iāve had both dissolving much better donāt worry
Everyone I know who had C-section healed up good with dissolvable sutures
Dissovables were wonderful. Less pain easier recovery
I always thought i had both. I remember the staples. Thankfully I didnt have any issues
Iāve only had staples and they were fine. Didnāt hurt at all and it healed really well.
7 csectionsā¦ first one staples and the rest stitched and glued
I had stitches my first time loved them had staples my 2nd and they burned but the scar is less noticable with staples if you care about that kinda thing
Mine were dissolvable sutures plus glue I think Iām pretty sure. Either way my incision was perfect the 2nd time around he had to cut through a lot of scar tissue. I remember hearing him say omg thereās lots of scar tissue and putting his whole back into it lol but the healing process is okay. Painful and sensitive but still good.
My first one was staples and it was bad. My last two were sutures and were so much better!! And each recovery was easier as well!
Iāve had 3 c sections (2009,2010 & 2017)
The first one they did the Staples and the second and third they did the dissolvable sutures which were much better and easier than the staples!
I had dissovables and had no problem
I had staples with all 3 and never had issues
Sutures and glue I believe
I had steri-strips and my pain was easily controlled with regular OTC Tylenol. My scar is hardly noticeable now, so if they can do the strips with subcutaneous sutures for you, Iād ask for that! I was SO SCARED to have a c section, and now if I have another theres no way Iād even attempt a natural birth. I only took Tylenol for 4-5 days too, then it was just a matter of making sure my pets didnāt stomp all over it when my lap was free for a minute
I had staples but mine never hurt to touch. I took a shower the next morning. I was walking 12 hrs after my C-section.
I just had surgery on my stomach for 2 artery bypasses. I had 30 staples. Pain is horrendous! Just had them taken out this week. That part is better but still in pain.
