I would ask the doctor before doing some major flea treatments because you are pregnant. I know they advise against some of those.
You can put soapy water (dish soap)in a pie plate and put a candle in the middle. Light the candle when you turn off the lights. Fleas come hopping over and get stuck in the soapy water
Okay so I know you said that you saw fleas in his bed BUT flea bites and bed bug bites look pretty similar. Bed bugs are a mess to get rid of where fleas are easier. Heat treatments and pesticides. If the bites are like rows of three or clustered together it could be bed bugs. And you could have had both bed bugs AND fleas.
There’s probably a nest somewhere near him. Make sure to spray down skirting boards, cracks, literally everything. You can also buy flea bombs for each room, but you will have to leave the house while you set them off. If you’ve got any animals, make sure they are flead with a spot on treatment.
Sounds like bed bugs not fleas. I’d get rid of his mattress and see if that works. Plus put all his sheets, covers and clothes in the dryer for a hour with high heat. Heat is what kills them.
Doesn’t sound like fleas. They typically don’t bite humans.
Have a local exterminator bring a dog to sniff out possible bedbugs.
In the meantime put tea tree oil in lotion and apply it to him
You can use mule 20/20 sprinkle it all over the carpet and mattress let set for two days then vacuum it up. What it does is it smothers them. Afterwards your carpet will be soft and room smell good. Non toxic to him as well. We had a flea infestation and didn’t have any animals at the time.
We ended up getting fleas from a couch we purchased off of letgo so we had to wash everything then we flea bombed twice but also my apartment isn’t very big but there we still fleas tons of em so I looked up online home remedies to get rid of fleas an one of em was put some warm water with some Dawn dish soap into a bowl put it under your beds & couch the fleas will go into the bowl and the dish soap makes it so they can’t escape it’ll collect the fleas I checked mine a few times a day I changed the water and soap mixture twice a day it took a month or two but the fleas FINALLY went away. Also sweet vaccum and mop as much as possible
I had to throw literally everything away and start new it was driving me crazy and I just got rid of all the beds got all new mattress n box springs got rid of all stuffed animals and washed clothes all day every day every thing any stuffed animals throw away sorry but just threw everything and started new I know that might be hard money wise but you’ll slowly get every thing back
Diatomaceous Earth. We tried EVERYTHING! Months later a coworker told me about this! Problem solved.
Do you have a pic of the bites Mama?
Get a new mattress. Fleas dont live on kids. Probably bed bugs.
Look in couches and matresses for bed bugs…one person can be getting bit and not the other and you can be in the same bed or on the same couch. They are hard to find get in the creases and they also get in the wood ignites a wood bss frame. Bed bug bites itch and welp up
Sounds like bed bugs
Sounds like bed bugs they’re hard to see. Check all the seams of mattress and if you see any get rid of it and everything fabric like in his room needs to be washed and dried on highest heat
Just went thru this. Got rid of the couches and swept vacuumed and mopped non stop got a new bed for our kiddo and and threw away any coveres and pillows just incase. Our dogs has fleas and she plays in the floor where the dog is. Once in awhile she gets bit. I wash her off and change her and put cream on her. It’s a hassle for sure
It can take weeks to get fleas gone keep with the cleaning and the vacuuming.
Fleas do bite people. But sounds more like bed bugs
Bomb the house every week
We used like 6 bombs through out the house and we would leave for the day
When you come home you have to clean all the surfaces. Make sure to close cabinets before leaving and put away anything you dont want to be sprayed
Fleas are asswholes have many cycles of life before you can get rid of them completely.
Bomb every week or two for a few months and spray your yard
Are u sure it’s not bedbugs?
Are you sure it’s not bed bugs?
Put him in new room with a different bed then throw out that bed !
Throw everything away beds couches then wash all clothes in hot water doing 2 extra drying cycles.
Sweep and mop the floors everyday, and vaccume 3 times a day. Fleas LOVE dark corners, so make sure you get those too. And poison. It doesn’t sound like bed bugs because bed bugs bite in 3’s (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and are side by side. You should check anyway just to be sure by totally removing the mattress, and checking all seams for small pin point black dots (that’s blood fecal matter). But since you mentioned you did have animals inside, it most likely is fleas and you are now infested with them.
We’ve had replace carpet before. They live deep in the padding
Till you get exterminator. Put him in your room ,if not in your bed then a cot. Just not in his room. Wash all his clothes and spray down his dresser. Also his room has carpet pull it out. You’ll never get rid of otherwise. Seal off his room till bug man arrives.
I got the flea powder from Walmart killer them asap ! My daughter didn’t get bit after that ! Also keep pants in him with long Sox’s to keep them out his legs
I would think everyone would get bit. But you can use flea bombs, but must leave the house for hrs.
If it is bed bugs and he’s the only one getting bit then there only is his room, if he moves say to your bed or the couch they will find the closest human possible and travel there ( bed bugs smell a human by THE OXYGEN WE EXPELL)…get plastic and wrap the bed up before you throw it out because they will fall off in other rooms…check his crib or bed they’re 89% on the frame too no matter if it’s metal or wood…I used to work with an exterminator and the places you call to bring in charge up the ass … u can do it at home but it’s ALOT of work… 90-100> % rubbing alcohol will kill them on spot but not eggs I suggest those two things first…and throw all clothes, sheets, rugs anything fabric in high heat for a hr 1/2…they love wood, any and all cracks, molding, books, outlets ect…I hope this isn’t your problem and it is only fleas because fleas are 90% easier to get rid of
Apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, and water in a spray bottle. Spray the bed and couch and wait ten minutes. Vacuum on and around couch and bed.
Do you have any stuffed animals that he has that you didn’t clean?
My older daughter was the one who got the bites the worst. The fleas were really bad and bit everyone but she got it the worst
Check for bed bugs. You will see small brown/dark/red dots around the seams of your mattress if you have them. If the flea infestation is bad enough he’s getting bit like that, you should see them in other areas of your home as well. If they were in your home and you live in the country, for example, there may be rodents getting into your home that are carrying them (mice and things). If you’re sure it’s fleas, bomb your home and then vacuum and rewash. Bomb again in 2 weeks, if you don’t have an exterminator come in and do it for you.
I’ve never tried it myself but I’ve read lots and lots of advise from others that you can put blue dawn dish soap in a little low dish on the floor and the fleas will be attracted to it and jump in it and die. It’s worth a shot if nothing else is working
We have a dog & cat. When they had fleas my 2 yr old daughter and youngest son (7) were the only ones getting bit while the other 3 of us in the house were not. We determined it was due to them being on the floor the most. I swear by Avon Skin so Soft; while we were battling the fleas we bathed my daughter in it everyday and the fleas stayed away from her. Unfortunately it did make her hair greasy, but it was a small price to pay for her to not get bit! We vacuumed 2x a day for a little over 3 months. Vet’s office said with eggs and fleas laying eggs it takes at least 3 months to break the cycle and get rid of them.
You have to do flea bombs. You need one on each floor. That should do it! ( remove your plants and of course animals)!
Also to add to previous comments…everyone could be being bit, but only he is reacting to the bites.
Im not an essential oils person. BUT we were having issues with pests. I got a diffuser. And its honestly helped some. Google a smell they do not like. Use that. It wont destroy your problem completely, but it will help along with other things you are doing.
Put a flea collar inside your vacuum and vacuum every single day, top to bottom, every corner and under everything. Wash everything in hot water to help kill the eggs. You have to break the life cycle
Seresto collar! I had fleas bad and in a month with the cats wearing these collars I have no issues!
Even if you get rid of the fleas on the inside of the house, fleas live outside as well and will jump on you and you can reinfest your whole house.
Lavender oil drops! One drop every few feet. Safe for children and pets!
Diatomaceous earth, food grade. You can get it at tractor supply, garden department. Is not harmful to humans or animals. Sprinkle it on your carpet and floors and leave it for 3-4 days at a time then sweep and vacuum. Look it up. It really does work!
Fleas bite Kelly. Itching can be helped with solarcaine numbs the skin and helps heal. Doesn’t hurt though to check for bedbugs but they usually don’t pick just one person. But never had them.
Borax…sprinkle vacuum or diotamaceous earth better
I don’t know how old he is or how you feel about vitamin . Bug’s go for a certain type of blood. I gave my child vitamin b12. It helps.
Vaccum very very often but put your vaccum outside when you’re not using it…in a garbage bag
Lavender oil I had fleas on my legs when I was pregnant nothing worked but lavender oil
Get all the animals in the house on Advantage or a similar flea medicine and bomb the house. If you only treat the animals and don’t bomb the house, it will take about six months for all the eggs to hatch and die off.
Listen. Take a bowl of water and a lamp. Point lamp at water. The fleas are attracted to warm and then drown in the water. I have many pets at our home in the country, they are allowed to travel freely in and out of home. Fleas was a constant issue when we first moved here. After several flea bombs and other things we still had fleas!!! A few days of this and not one flea. And we also had some people bitten and others not, that is not that uncommon. Good luck
We started rubbing tea tree oil around the bottom of the bed and under the matress, it works like a charm. My children all went through this issue from 18 months until 5. Fleas and mosquitos love them for some reason. I can’t stop all the ones outside but inside the tea tree oil did the trick. I use the oil diluted with coconut oil for outside use. But if I ever forget they get swarmed. We live in a semi rural area and the bugs are terrible in the summer
They make a flea bomb. Peppermint and lavender essential oils are also supposed to keep them away. You can put drops of essential oils on his pjs to help since applying tp him may make the bites sting
It’s called papular urticaria look it up. My son has it. He isn’t necessarily getting bit that many times but he is having a sensitivity to the bite and is the only one sensitive to it. There isn’t a whole lot you can do
You’re not stopping the Life cycle. You need to vacuum twice a day and dispose of it on the street for two or three weeks. Wash every single article of clothes and blanket each day in hot water dry on high. Continue for two weeks. Get a new mattress. Wash floor with vinegar if hardwood every day for two to three weeks. To be safe do these steps in each room
One flea lays hundreds of eggs… Those eggs believe it or not can nest in your carpet or rug. They can only jump 6-8 inches. Green light attracts them. Don’t know if they still sell them, but there was once a trap of glue with a green light that worked pretty well, but does not get rid of them…we stayed with someone who had stray cats, she pull out a rug she had rolled up for a while, immediately my son started screaming and jumping up and down… I noticed fleas all over his legs…rubbed him down with alcohol, continue applying alcohol for a couple of days… She sprayed the rug a few times, but I think she ended up throwing the rug away…
Dawn dish soap (citrus), citrus plug ins, sprays. They hate it. Go to the $store and get the rezuit citrus spray. Vacuum like crazy. We had them a few back and we found that worked. I work in the public field so come in contact with all sorts of things and I make sure to always spray myself with the rezuit and thank goodness it works. Good luck
ya’ll probably think im exaggerated, but since i know fleas are very hard to get rid of i did this: i washed a weeks-time clothing for everyone, and a few extra jic, packed my kids to my mom’s house for an entire week. i removed every single sheet, curtain, and and even the couch covers that were removable and left them soaking in hot water w some vinager (i would wash n soak them again every day)sprayed the entire house with flea spray the 1st morning to get them to come out to the surface. i sprayed every window seal, every corner, the bathrooms, even the kitchen, behind the appliances, bombed the house that night with 2 bottles per room, except the bathrooms, just used one and closed the doors. (2 per bedroom, 2 in the living room, 2 in d kitchen,2 per hallway. i also sprayed the car thoroughly and changed my clothes immediately when i got to my moms n put it in d washer. came back home the next morning, opened everything up to ventilate, and then vaccumed the entire place completely 2 times. i intentionally left the clothes that had bn lying out when i bombed bcz fleas can get in there too and if u just put it away or in the dirty clothes they dont die, u have to wash everything in hot water n vinager at least twice. the third night, again i sprayed the entire house w flea spray, came back the next morning, cleaned up and vaccumed the entire house, and then re-sprayed the entire house again. i cane back the next night and bombed again, this time using only one per room. the next morning i ventilated the house and again vaccumed, and sprayed again, this time i also added salt to the carpet area and corners, it helps, and so i came back the next day, vaccumed, sprayed, and finally the last day after i vaccumed the entire house, i made sure my kids had bathed right before we left and made sure everything had been washed at moms bfore we brought it back. u also have to spray the outside of the house, bcz sometimes they come from the outside area near the house. i honestly do not know how long it took, if the entire week,or if they had been dead for a while even when i continued to spray n bomb them, but all i knw is we came back to a flea-free home! its expensive,i know, and super time n energy consuming, but i could not see my kids w one more flea bite! its horrible!
Are you sure it’s fleas? I drug bed bugs home from work when I did home health care and my son was the only one being bit by them and we slept in the same bed. $1300 later and we finally got our house treated. We thought fleas too since we tried getting our cat groomed and the lady found a flea on her and refused to do it so we treated our cat and dog and our house and then found out it was a bed bug.
You need to leave the house for a few days and do a flea bomb. You must have an infestation.
Buy the expensive glea bombs ’ x2. U need to leave house I would say overnight u have children, then in am open doors and windows air out 4 hours, then go in and wash everything like spring cleanup. Make sure u leave all areas of cloth open, closets draws. Also if u have pets bomb your car, and yard guard your yard(sprinkle bug repellent)
If u put dawn dish doap on a throw away plate they will jump in it… maybe natural stuff sence u do have children n if u still have pets
Put some dawn dish liquid in a lid and set it in the floor check it in 2 hours and you’ll see just how bad an infestation is
Place a pie plate with Dawn dish soap and water mixture under a lamp at night. They jump in and it kills them. Banana peels also work. I would place some under his bed and around the perimeter of the house.
Could it be bed bugs tho. They can get in couches on everything really and dont have to bite everyone. Been there done that one so i done alot of research
But don’t leave the used vacum bag in the house! We used kerosene and wiped our bodies with that. Not very pleasant, but it helped!
You sure it’s not bed begs?
Don’t waste your money on bombs… or anything else. Get this spray, and you have to treat the house. The entire house, and it’s safe!! You need to continue to treat the house/rooms. And vacuum every. Single. Day. You’re unfortunately not going to get rid of them in a day. But this spray works amazing!
I got them once from a foster dog. The best trick is to vacuum everything multiple times a day! Keep vacuuming I swear it works!! There’s no harsh chemicals and it sucks the little fuckers right up! You can also put diomacious earth around his bed by the floor boards (make sure he doesn’t touch it) then vacuum that up the following day. Good luck the reproduce quickly and spread like fire
Get rid of the mattress he is using or get a plastic mattress cover the whole thing and suffocate them. R u sure its not bed bugs. Next time you find one squish it between your fingers, if it smells terrible, then its not fleas
Call a veterinarian. They’ll give you advice on what to do for your home.
Sounds more like bed bug bites…
Please like the babies they like the tender skin I was never getting bit either I understand and it was the baby was you got a bomb your house and wash everything thoroughly and vacuum
dawn dish soap in shallow pan with water candle lit in middle fleas jump in instantly dead
Flea bomb the whole house. Cover mattresses, pillows and cloth furniture in plastic covers.
You’ll have to spray/powder your carpet everyday. Put all clothes, stuffed animals, etc in big black trash bags and sit them where they get Sun. The heat will help kill eggs but it’ll all have to get washed on hot water.
If you have a yard, treat the yard for fleas every 3 mons.
If you have pets, the Seresto collars are amazing. But they make pills that help too. You’ll have to vacuum several times a day to get all the dead fleas up.
It’s a process but it can be done. We got rid of them 2 yrs ago and not an issue since.
Flea bombs… But i agree with others. It aounds more like bedbugs
Yeah you’re going to have to bomb the house.
Call. A. Professional.
Your kid did not ask to be bitten by fleas all day.
Poor baby
Babies get bit more because they are on the floor or bed more.
Scared borax laundry soap on carpet in couch and chairs. Between mattress and box springs in and under cabinets it kills them. No pesticides
Dont forget to treat stuff animals and toys
Oh that might be bed bugs darling. Some exterminators will do a free inspection. It’s worth a shot!!
Food grade diotomatious earth. U can put on carpets leave in a few days b4 vacuuming, dog n in dog food help with some internal parasites. Available at tractor supply
Skin so soft by Avon will help keep them off of him…
Vacuum everywhere daily. Fleas love dark places so make sure to get in the cracks and under furniture as vacuum the couches and beds. Put borax on your carpets and let it sit for a while before vacuuming. Keep washing anything that can be put in the washer including curtains in as hot water as the material can handle. The spray may kill live fleas but they don’t touch the eggs so it’s gonna be a long process
Bath in dawn dish soap
contact baldwyn pest control they are good and their service price is reasonable time you spend on that other stuff you done spent that much and the fleas die quicker
Give him a shower with Dawn blue dishwashing liquid. It kills fleas instantly. And it’s harmless.
Fleas hatch every 4/5 days. Do you have carpet? Spread regular Tide soap around the room. Fleas breath thru their skin. Tide soap leaves a film and they can’t breathe. You will have to keep the soap down for a month because of the flea eggs
Make sure its fleas and not bed bugs.
My wife and I briefly fostered a cat with fleas, which naturally caused us to get a few bites. A very simple and adorable solution for us was dish soap in water. Get a small bowl (preferably one with a large radius) and fill it with water. Then put a few drops of dish soap on top, just enough to cover the surface. Place this bowl on the floor with a desk lamp directly above the water, facing down. Turn off all lights in the room/house. The fleas will be drawn to the light, hit the bulb, fall into the water, and get stuck in the soap.
This, plus frequent baths, helped us get rid of the fleas in about 2-3 weeks. We went from seeing over a dozen dead ones in the water every night to 1 to 2 to none. It may be more difficult if you have a large house/multiple rooms, but it did work
To relieve his itching give him an aveeno oatmeal bath or Epsom salt bath. Aveeno also makes a itch cream that will relieve the itching after the bath and it will help dry them out. As for getting rid of the fleas you are going to have to bomb the house or get some flea spray from your local feed store or grocery store . After spraying or bombing You can also put salt down on the floor overnight and vaccum it up in the morning it will dehydrate and kill the fleas.
Call a professional exterminator. It will cost the same amount that you would spend on store purchased products & time invested.
The exterminator will also provide a 30 day guarantee. Considering the life cycle of a flea, you will need another treatment.
You did all you can, your son is being bit again because the fleas are cycling again. There us something about your son that the fleas are attracted to. It is not unusual to have one or 2 people in your family to be a feast for fleas & nothing for other family members.
If you can, get onto the CDC website regarding fleas, the life cycle & getting rid of them.
My daughter is 19. Home on break from school. She went to her friends house, spending the night. Both of my daughter’s legs and feet ( including the soles if her feet) were chewed up by fleas. 100’s of bites. Not one on her friend.
Throw alcohol on the floor near them. He probably is allergic to them
I flysprayed the living daylights out of the mattress and the base and under the blankets and the whole room so it was so hazy in there.then used a flea bomb but make sure you follow instructions and air it out so good afterwards.
If there’s fleas in a house they will eat me alive before anyone else. Only option is to buy flea bombs. Seal up the house open the cabinets and everything. Make sure there’s the right amount of bombs per square foot. You will have to repeat every so often until they are all gone, the eggs dont always die from the bombs and hatch in like 10 days i think. Vacuum and clean all surfaces very well after the bombs.
Get rid of his mattress and carpet boil wash his bedding etc, poor little boy
Clean the whole house. Strip the beds everything and wash it all. Keep it like that.
Get flea bombs… do the whole house.
Check your mattress just incase its bed bugs instead of fleas
For some reason kids get bit more. The same thing happened a few times over the years to family.
The kids always got bit more. Can’t really explain it.
Treatments need to be done every other day. I say every other day just to try and stay ahead of it. You can treat once a week, but it will take longer to get rid of them.
Baking soda and salt works. Dawn baths.
There is some type of dirt you can buy from some stores that smothers all different types of bugs and all you gotta do after is vacuum
