This is around the time a baby starts to get on a sleeping schedule and sticks with it. Try a good routine that you follow through with every night. That should work for ya! Good luck.

Two or three times at this age is totally normal. Sleeping through the night is a six hour stretch

A lot of babies don’t sleep through the night for many months! It’s just what babies do.

Do NOT put oatmeal in that baby’s bottle!! Sleep is developmental. Some babies do not sleep thru the night until at least a year. Maybe he’s going through a growth spurt, or maybe he just needs comfort.

It is very normal for a 4 month old baby to wake up during the night. Welcome to parenthood.

Um he’s a baby. Most 4 months old do not sleep through the night. Please don’t put oatmeal in the bottle. That is an extreme choking hazard.

Well he is a baby and his stomach is quite a bit smaller then yours. Him getting hungry every few hours isnt something you can just train him not to do…

My daughter is 10 months old and hates being in the dark she has been scared since around 6 or 7 months. I got her a light up seahorse that plays soft music and she sleeps with it. It goes off by its self
Scared of the dark? It was pretty dark in the womb. Just adjusting, they are starting to be awake more than just eat and sleep. Takes time. Bathe before bed, or in the morning, good luck!

Do they ever sleep through the night? Lol.

Stop putting oat meal in the bottle. It doesn’t help because babies digest at the rate that they do because they need the calories of every single feeding. By trying to “stretch out” feedings you could be taking those calories away. Baby will sleep through the night when it’s ready. Nights are long but it won’t last forever. My guy woke up 5-7 times per night up until about a week before he turned 6 months.

Definitely not! He’s still young let him be a baby!! They won’t sleep through the night until one year old or later

Hes only 4 months… its asking alot honestly. DO NOT PUT OATMEAL IN BOTTLE. It’s not recommended to even give oatmeal at 4 months.

Omfg. He’s FOUR MONTHS OLD. You’re lucky he’s only getting up that often. Stop putting cereal in his bottle, that’s literally helping nothing, just putting him at risk for choking. Sorry, but this is something you just have to deal with.

Try to cut down on naps during the day. Especially after 2pm.
It’s normal, he’s a baby not a doll! Someone should have told you that you will never sleep again for the rest of your life. Not when theyre babies and not even when theyre 18

It annoys me SO MUCH that you are seriously bitching about a 4 MONTH OLD not sleeping for 6+ hours straight. Some people shouldn’t have ever reproduced.
He’s only 4 months he’s not gonna sleep all night

4 month olds need to eat. If the baby is waking up hungry please feed milk. If baby wants cuddles please cuddle. Enjoy the baby life it’s only temporary.

He will sleep through the night when he is ready. You can’t rush it or change it. It’s just part of being a baby. I promise it will happen. Just hang in there.

Too early for oatmeal. Hes still a baby, our pediatrician said babies dont start sleeping through the night till around 6 months

You can sleep train at this age. Look up different methods that may work for your household.
2-4 times isn’t really bad though, baby can wake up for more reasons than just being hungry. I’d suggest getting into a good routine, make sure baby is fed and changed & lay baby down when they’re drowsy, not completely asleep but almost there (to help baby with self soothing), once baby does wake up, just don’t turn on all the lights and don’t get baby really woke up.
We’ve all been ftm before and have all been in this boat of not knowing what to do or what the “normal” is for babies, this woman may have friends who have babies who have slept through the night since they came home from the hospital, both of my kids have. Also, the whole oatmeal situation is something you speak to your child’s pediatrician about and a nutrionalist if you want. My oldest son had a teaspoon of cereal in his bottle at 3 months per pediatrician AND two nutritionalist approval. THEY know my child’s medical history and what was good for HIM, every single child is different. Doesn’t really make you want to take advice when you’re getting condescending remarks.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
We as adults dont sleep through the night we wake for toilet we wake because we’re cold we wake because WE GOD DAMN DO.
Stop expecting the world of your baby. It will take years for a good night’s sleep you made that sacrifice when you chose to have you child.
And 4 months old…oat meal in the bottle REALLY LADY ?
Really??? Selfish much. You shouldn’t be a mom if you cant handle no sleep

Maybe instead of forcing your baby to sleep through the night for your convenience, try signing up for parenting class.
Yes you can give your baby oat cereal as AAP recommends starting at 4-6 months. (Evidence based info). Just not in a bottle. That’s dangerous.

I agree with everyone that you really shouldn’t put the cereal in their bottle and that some babies take a little longer to sleep through the night. I have a family member whose daughter didn’t sleep through the night completely until 2 years old. I do however suggest the chiropractor for your LO, my son started going at a month old for colic and it also improved his sleep a lot and by 3-3 1/2 months old he was sleeping through the night.
Some baby’s do &’ can be on a sleeping schedule at that age; but don’t get disappointed if his/ she is not one of those baby’s. Try giving him/ her a bath &’ bottle before bed. I put rice cereal in our baby’s bottle; you just have to be cautious; our doctor even recommended it (I’m not sure if that’s what your referring to when you say oatmeal or not).
It’s tough but it won’t last forever. Just be there for the baby, take turns with dad.
Find a chiropractor who specializes in babies.
Took my daughter at 2 weeks and she started sleeping 5-6 hrs a night. Relax, no cracking of the bones. Or any of that.
My oldest son is 10 i havent slept through the night in 11nyears!

My 4 month old is up dam near every two hours all night long every night and I keep her up during the day as much as I can… oh and I have 5 yes 5 others soooooo… no advice here hahah
Babies that age will wake during the night. My boys didn’t sleep fully through until 6 months. You just have to deal with it.
Personally I co-slept… I was so tired I was delusional which wouldn’t have been safe for me nor my son… and the minute I started co-sleeping is the minute he started sleeping through the night even as a newborn… co-sleeping is actually healthy for newborns, they need that connection and comfort you just have to make sure to be careful and aware…

My baby still does not sleep through the night and is 18 mo it’s okay it’s normal just gotta stick it out it will come naturally
Way too many snobby comments. Maybe she’s a first time mom? Sometimes it gets overwhelming and extremely hard when your baby won’t sleep through the night. Don’t be so mean! She’s probably very sleep deprived and exhausted.

Don’t think it’s the dark… some just sleep better than others. My oldest didn’t sleep thru the night till he was in Kindergarten. My youngest slept all night from the time we brought him home. Same home… same routine.
Babies need to eat frequently 🤦♀
Another question that makes me wonder if these people even take their kids to pediatricians

You guys are being rude and disgusting why not uplift each other and for you start a routine with the baby I have her naps and all that in the day time down the night routine is important hby 6:30 I bathe her body everyday and her hair every other day and I use the lavender lotion and wash and tummy time and feed and by the time it’s 7:30 I put her in her crib and sing her a lullaby and sometimes she will falls asleep but if she doesn’t she babbles for a bit and goes to sleep then wake up at around 12 or 1 am she wakes up for a “dream feed” (drinks about 2 oz) then falls right to sleep around 2 am then wakes up at around 10 am then the day begins again

Heck. My oldest daughter didn’t sleep all night until she was 13 months old! Colic and then habit!
No, your baby needs to be fed at night. Adding food in TV he bottle isn’t always good for the baby. They sill be prone to more allergies later in life. Are you nursing ? Take a n as p now & then so you are not so tired.your baby will grow fast. Enjoy this time. Is is part of being g a mom.

You know, if you put earplugs in your ears before bed, you will have no problem sleeping through the night-problem solved.
And for those that take this seriously, I’m being sarcastic.

Vicki your 2 cents☺ and my opinion go to your pediatrician and talk.
No cereal in the bottle. HOWEVER IT IS POSSIBLE for a 4 month old to sleep through the night! Don’t listen to all thr negative nancy’s! My first 3 babies ALL SLEPT 10-12HRS through the night starting at about 2-3 weeks. They woke maybe once or twice to nurse during the night but immediately went back to sleep. All I can say is routine, Routine, ROUTINE.

Oatmeal is not a good 1 cereal. It is harder to digest.
Wow, congrats. You have a normal baby.
Cereal in a bottle is a choking hazard and it does not make them sleep longer. My 15 month old still frequently wakes. It’s biologically normal. Welcome to parenthood.

Try a warm bath and massaging his little legs and feet, rocking and soothing him with a warm bottle till he falls asleep. this is a part of having a 4 month old.
It’s exhausting and frustrating but also remember your baby can feel your frustrations.
Good luck

Keep on a 2 naps a day schedule. One at 10 and one at 2. Wake up each time after an hour. After second nap make sure u keep him busy so he don’t go to sleep till 8 or 9pm.
Wow, everyone on here is being so hateful! She’s asking a question… Dont act like you are a better parent than her…
Hun, my oldest was on cereal at 2 weeks old, as long as you are with them while they drink it and its not too thick, oatmeal is fine. I’ve since had 4 more babies, all but 2 were on cereal at 1 month.
As far as sleeping goes, its never too early to introduce a schedule… Routine will help more than it seems… Sleep when baby sleeps (you can always clean when baby is awake). I promise it will get better, just please dont expect it to get better within one week… It’ll take time.
Please feel free to message me personally… I’ve had 3 girls and 2 boys and currently raising my husbands 2 boys. I have tons of experience.
And for the rest of you that want to degrade a mother for asking questions, shame on you all!

Try to tire him out before bed maybe also try a night light
Meant to say adding food to the bottle. Also take a few naps when your baby sleeps.
Try a baby projector maybe lullabies will help baby sooth… Mines sleeps with that after a warm shower & massaging baby vicks… Good luck!
My daughter slept through the entire night from newborn-3 months and then started waking up. So, at this point I started giving her a bottle and a jar of baby food before bed, and she’s only wake up once throughout the night for a bottle. We’d go to bed about 11, and she wouldn’t wake back up until 5:30-6 & then slept until 10.
i played baby music.the soft music helped w mine.she slept.u can always try that.
I think it’s funny how some of you guys wanna act like you know it all and act so rude to her like if you all were perfect like lbvs y’all aren’t as perfect as you think the way people treat each other is nasty af I swear

I really hope this post is fake…
I can’t believe all the rude comments. All three of my babies slept thru the night by six WEEKS old. The last feeding of the night (around 11), I’d put rice cereal in the bottle and they’d sleep till around five a.m. I’m now helping to raise two granddaughter’s and the youngest is 10 months. Same with her. She now goes to bed around 830 p.m.and will sleep till 9 a.m.

I’ve had seven babies. I always had a cereal bottle and put some rice cereal in the last bottle before bed. Started it at four months and never an issue
They go through a sleep regression at that time my daughter is now 9 months and just now coming out of it. But she still does wake up just not as often.
I fed more during the day, but also started getting up, giving pacifier and he would go back to sleep for a while. Next time he woke up I would give a bottle. I started this around 3 months and it gradually shifted his schedule to where he was only hungry 1-2 times a night. Sometimes he just wanted to be cuddled and so I would end up co-sleeping (which we stopped at 8 months-on e they start crawling it’s not a safe thing)
She asked for advice. Not to be bashed. Miss “perfect mommies”
Fucking assholes
My 1st 2 babies slept through at 6wks old (including the baby who was 6wks premmy), my youngest started sleeping through the night at somewhere between 18months and 2yrs old… welcome to parenthood…
Lmfao wow gotta be selfish?? Babies need to burp so maybe the baby has air… maybe the baby is wet?were you ever educated on purple crying? Cuz last time I checked its regulation for them to teach you about it

Kids wake up at that age if they need something. Motherhood is all about losing sleep lol. Try a night time routine. Don’t wake for feedings and set a bedtime schedule
Addend a small amount of cereal to the bottle is not harmful. I had 5 and they all took it on the advise of the Dr. !!! You can always try keeping him awake more during the day.

Unfortunately a big part of mommy hood is not sleeping. Lol you’ll sleep again someday, just push through, enjoy your baby.
He is 4 months old. He’s not MEANT to sleep through the night. Yes, some babies can and do sleep through from an early age. But those are exceptions. Most babies don’t sleep through until after 6 months.

It’s completely normal for a 4 month old to still be waking at night and the only thing that should ever go in a bottle is formula or breastmilk. Baby food should be spoon fed, not bottle fed.
