How to get rid of lice?

Okay so I am desperate. My daughter has thick curly hair and she has lice and nits. I cannot for the life of me get rid of them. We have done Nix and Rid. I have put every linen in the dryer on high heat. I have combed her hair out with coconut oil and a metal lice comb. I have done everything short of shaving her head  I need help.

Put vinegar or mayonnaise on her hair, it helps smother them. And then just keep combing/picking away

Mayonnaise. My mom used it on my sister & i (we had ling straight hair) & it worked

Mayo and vinegar mixed together. Comb out for as long as you can in super small sections.

Sometimes at work we use mayonnaise when we have patients with lice, it smothers them.

My mama always used mayonnaise!

Just handled this…

  1. Coat her head in DAWN. Comb it with a close teeth comb and get out as many as you can. Rinse, put it on again. Wrap in plastic wrap for 1 HR. Comb and rinse.
  2. Get plastic covers for pillows and bed. Wash EVERYTHING in hot water…clothes, bedding, towels, stuffed animals. All of it.
I’ll go grab pics of the stuff I use…and keep her hair up for at least a week and don’t wash it. They love clean hair.

Once you do get rid of them, get shampoo that has tea tree oil in it. It’s a little more pricey but it’s totally worth it. They don’t like the scent so she won’t get them again

This lady has a whole blog dedicated to it. She got rid of life professionally for 14 years. Give it a read Mama!

You have to put everything in a bag, tied up after you rewash everything for 2 or so weeks.

Mayonnaise. It smells but it works. Wash it, then use a straightener on the highest heat setting and slowly go through from as close to the scalp as you can when straightening, the heat will kill any eggs left.

Mayo. Suffocate the little suckers.

Listerine the blue one. Douse her hair in it and put a shower cap on over night then go through her hair

Someone told me once that peanut butter works great

Resultz!! Recommended by lice squad! 100% worked!

Keep a shower cap on her at night lice lives up to 48 hours without a bite cinnamon leaf oil combined with tea tree works as a repalant and a treatment bag up unessarry toys seal off her room if need be you can also leave that mixture in a cup under her bed for an inhome repalant dont forget to delice ur vechiles people over look that

I used Listorine mouth wash!Mayo didn’t work for me. Good luck mama!

Apple Cider Vinegar. Then after getting rid of them put 1/2 ac vinegar and 1/2 shampoo in bottle. Use on her hair as preventative.

Google natural ways to get rid of lice. Vinegar, peanut butter, coconut oil etc

Coca cola hair washes baby

Hair straighteners then lots of conditioner on wet hair use not come to clean out dead lice and eggs oil, mousse or hair spray daily

Tea tree oil will do the trick.

Do you have a lice service in your area. We have Lice Squad here and they guarantee its removal

Heat up vinegar ! And to prevent from coming back put a little tea tree in shampoo

What about using onion water .that’s might work

My dad cut my hair off when I had it as a child. My hair is super thick!

I tried all the treatments and coconut oil, tea tree oil. The only thing that worked for us was a product called Licefree spray.

Are you treating the stuffed animals etc?

Mayo, smother her hair in mayo, as much as can get on there and cover it with a plastic bag or shower cap, let it sit for about 30-45 minutes

The doctor can write you a Rx. And for after? Amazon has ocean spray. Use it daily and it works! My best friend tried EVERYTHING and that’s what finally got rid of them for good.

Cover her head with Vaseline. Use a shower cap over and let sit for 3 days. Use a lot of dawn to wash it out.

An adult louse will die within 24 hours of not being in contact with their host, younger louse die within hours and eggs die within a week and cannot hatch if they aren’t in direct contact with something warm like your head. Is she in contact with others daily? Somebody she can keep getting them from? If not, just shampoo her head thoroughly every 7 days till they’re all hatched and dead

I’m having the same problem with my baby girl too

Soak in Listerine then make sure you buy the Super lice treatment that kills super lice. Nowadays all lice can survive the regular treatments. Buy the extra strength and follow the directions after soaking hair in Listerine

Tea tree put it in shampoo bottle dont like the smell

You can use olive oil with a shower cap on and then heat it with a hair dryer. They will slide right out.

On a weekend…Slather with a lot of coconut oil, cover with bathing cap and leave on for Two Days.

I have thick curly hair. The only thing that works for me is vinegar.

Mayonnaise
Vinegar
Tea tree oil

Just went through this with my daughter, tea tree oil drops in their shampoo and then keep leave in conditioner in her hair. The more product kept in her hair, the better.

Splice. You have to get a prescription for it but it washes away EVERYTHING! No combing necessary.

Dr can prescribe a lice treatment for overnight and bag all the stuffed animals, pillows, linens literally everything. Keep them in the bags for like 48 hrs and than wash them all and dry them on high heat and make sure you clean things that cant be washed in the washing machine or let them sit longer in the bags. Tea tree pil and water sprayed on furniture beds and such will help as well

Put mayonnaise in her hair it works really well

Mayonnaise always worked best for us. Cover their hair in it and put a bag over it for about an hour… I always redid it 2 days later just to make sure I got them all

Seriously, go to the local tack store or horse feed store and ask for a couple tubes of ivermectin. Its horse wormer but also the active ingredient in the $400 prescription stuff. $3 a tube. One treatment fixes my kid up

Put listerine on it and wrap it in a bag for 4 hrs

Try mayonnaise and bag over it for an hour then combing even leaving it in over night it makes the knits expand easier to comb out

Tea tree oil. In the hair and then in a spray bottle with conditioner for daily use.

You can get a Rx for super lice from the doctor.

Goggle Lice Clinic of America. Hey are fantastic and about $225. But they are worth it. The OTC stuff and home remedies do not work. Anyone that says they do work have no idea what they’re talking about.

Years ago my daughter had lice. After using the shampoo stuff, I literally went through her hair, hair by hair to make sure there was not one single little egg left. It took 4 hrs. But it was worth it.

Vinegar amd lemon juice. I’ve tried all shop expensive ones and my home made remedy is the best for mine. Good luck x

Iron her mattress and box spring all cloth furniture as well and vacuum everything wash all bedding and stuffed animals on hot and high heat drying while doing the treatment on her head

Quell anti lice shampoo

Get a prescription from your pediatrician.

mayo…like the entire jar cover with plastic cap and leave over night…

Forget the store stuff, doesn’t work anymore. Try mayonnaise and leave on overnight with a cap.

I use lice away from Walmart. Best stuff ever

Coca Cola poor on, leave overnight and rinse

Heat does not kill them wash and bag everything suffocate the shit out of them vacuum and clean everywhere

Try Vamouse. I heard that it’s AMAZING!

Salt and vinegar douse the scalp and then comb it out with the lice comb repeat after 1 week

Tea tree oil. The doctors can give u something for it too

Put all stuffed animal in a garbage bag and close it tight for a couple weeks so everything can die on them use the stuff you spray on furniture to kill them and have her sit on a beach towel on the furniture clean her bed sheets every morning! Mix together body wash and salt!!! Part her hair many many times and lather her head with the body wash and salt let it sit for 30 minutes then rinse her hair out well. Once her hair is rinsed take a comb and part her hair and pull out any nits any any live lice put the live lice in a cup of water and pour them down the drain when you are done most of the lice on her head should be dead from the treatment it’s a horrible thing to go through and a lot of work to get rid of but it’s the only way to get rid of it. Good luck when I had lice my mom checked my head every morning and night until finally we got rid of it.

The only thing that worked for us was a robi comb!

Vinegar will work. You’ve gotta vacuum the house -like the bed mattress- couches- the car seats- Good luck.

Tea tree oil 2 parts to 1 part water … spray every couple hours .
You may not like the smell , but the lice will hate it and keep them dying off and away

Saturate her hair in mayonnaise & Saran Wrap it for 6-8 hours. When I had it really bad when I was younger even prescription shampoo didn’t work but this did! Also, once rid of them, they make shampoos that can help prevent getting them back.

Vacuum all upholstery that she sits on…daily. Use vinegar on her hair before you comb out. It loosens the bits and they comb out easier

Check to see if there is a lice clinic near you (yes they are real) can be expensive but totally worth it and they are gone in one treatment. Only place I’ll take my kiddo now. Worth every penny

I have thick hiar, had em as a kid. Mom asked my dr for the BIGGEST bottle of lice shampoo, got it and they were gone!!

My daughters hair is the same. Its terrible. What I have found that works is Vamousse. It’s a mousse that kills the lice and nits. Also get pure tea tree oil put a few drops in her shampoo and shake it up and use it all the time to repel them.

They have lice treatment with tea tree oil in it to prevent and keep them gone as well I would use it after you have it under control not only to get rid of it. It takes a mixture of it all to keep them gone

Tea tree oil I’ve heard helps

I swear by this stuff. Spray it all over her hair and let it dry. Wash it and comb it. It kills everything. You still have to pick the nits out but they will all be dead so if you dont get them all out you dont have to worry about them hatching. My daughter is 3 and after 2 treatments of this stuff and washing the house top to bottom all the linens and vaccuming everything we were able to get rid of it completely.

Anything you can’t wash like stuffed animals , can be bagged (air tight) for a few weeks

Baby oil and grease. Tie the hair up for a couple of day adding baby oil then wash abd bliw dey daily. Lice dont like the heat. One year my daughter class had it 29 studenta sent home. The nurae was black. Ahe rold me to do this and it worked

Mayo with a plastic bag and sleep with it on.
Apple cider vinegar then blow dry and comb comb comb comb comb

Go to the doctor and get Spinosad.

Mayo wrapped in saran wrap definitely works!

Make sure you use shampoo WITH sulfates in it. Just have to keep up on the combing of her hair. Try some tea tree oil on the scalp also

Tea tree oil and they also sell an electric comb I’ve seen it advertised Google it

Cut it short, spend the time and go through every strand of hair and remove every nit. It’s the ONLY way. I tried everything as well, removing each one took 6 hours and I had two girls with insanely thick hair. I used a tweezers, the metal comb is about worthless.

I have very thick hair. I tried everything mentioned. Finally had my hair cut with clippers. It was an endless battle.

Natroba from the dr some insurances cover it if not its pretty expensive but itss AMAZING an you dont have to comb the nits out the bugs wash out its a life saver as i have three girls with the same curly hair

Yellow listerene mouth wash!! Lean em over the tub, soak their hair, put a plastic shower cap over it and let it set for 30 minutes!! It’s the only thing I’ve ever used that works!!! The alcohol eats thru the eggs and kills adults!! I usually do it 2-3 times over a week and a half a time! It stinks and my kids say it makes their heads tingly, but it’s safe and effective!!

wash with nix then flat iron it and then comb it out with the nit comb

tea tree oil and I am thinking I read apple cider vinager maybe… good luck. no fun.

You have to Comb everyday for two weeks to catch the nits and lice in their cycle. Every night put coconut oil/olive oil in her hair to sleep in. It’s awful but that’s the only way to get rid of them.

We went to naughty nits you can use a flex or hsa card
Worked first time. Expensive tho. They said you do not need to wash or bag anything because lice cannot love off of the persons head. We did not bag anything.
