How to help morning sickness?

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing the worst morning sickness/pregnancy symptoms imaginable. I have tried everything and nothing seems to help. I cant really eat anything new and have to stick to select foods or I become sick, and even then sometimes I get sick. So tired of puking and just being nauseous EVERYDAY! I am worried I may have HG,have any other mamas gone through this? What helped? I’m desperate for help!My dr won’t prescribe me anything until I’m officially in my second trimester and tells me it’s not serious unless I puke over 3 times a day.

Have you gone to the drs to see if you’re actually suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum?

You need a new GP. I was on medication from 5/6 weeks and still was hospitalised with HG. But without the meds I couldn’t keep a thing down. You need the right medication by a Dr who is up to date with recent research.

Make sure you at least stay hydrated dehydration leads to early labor pains. Some women have to be hospitalized and on IV ‘s when they can’t keep anything down. If it gets too bad go to the ER. Try sucking on peppermint or peppermint tea and crackers. Sometimes that helps

Zofran. Both my term pregnancies I was bad and in the boarder of HG but never quite diagnosed. I was on weekly IVs at the hospital, dropped 20lbs with my first and 25lb with my second within 2 weeks. It took that for them to finally give me the good drugs. It stopped my sickness and allowed me to eat, by week 17/18 the sickness cleared up and I enjoyed my pregnancies.

Ginger is a natural cure for nausea. You can Google any other natural cures.
I was sick 7 months. Lost 50lbs. Try dry cheerios. Anything liquid made it worse. Crackers. Saltines (Zesta).

Try lemon water for nausea.

Go to the er and get a new ob. I had HG with one of my babies and i was very dehydrated from all the puking. I was literally in the er once a week for an iv due to dehydration. They gave me several different medications and zofran(dissolvable ones) was the only thing that somewhat helped.

Crackers an room temp gingerale

Pedialyte, Pedialyte popsicles…that is what I pretty much lived on for 5 months with my 6th pregnancy (I had HG, which is HORRIBLE)

Have you tried switching prenatal brands?

I had extremely severe HG. The severity of it varies from mild to high. You’re still pretty early in your pregnancy and most doctors won’t take it seriously until you’re a bit past your second trimester and it holds on. I hope it eases for you. My experience traumatized me.

Nibble on Saltine crackers

Please see another doctor. Also bananas and peanut butter worked for my all day all pregnancy sickness

My daughter in law fought the entire pregnancy due to her being rh negative and baby being rh positive so she had shots they had to give her to keep baby safe but dr Gabe her Zofran at like 3 weeks along cause she couldn’t keep anything down (even water) all day long…there are side effects from Zofran but in her case it was more dangerous for her to not have it.

I had this as well, I’m in my second trimester now. But I am always dizzy, puking, feeling the worst I ever have in my life. I have early stages of preeclampsia.

The BEST PREGNANCY ADVICE I EVER RECIEVED: DONT EAT ANYTHING THAT WONT TASTE GOOD, COMING BACK UP!!:upside_down_face:

Your doctor is mean

Suck on peppermint candies and try to eat crackers

Try hot water with a slice of ginger

Ginger ,dry biscuits

Your doctor should be able to prescribe something. My doctor offered something right away and I was in the 1st trimester.

I my grand daughter has PCOS AND SHE had hyper imisuse were you puck the whole pregnancy go straight to the er before you dehydrate .

Nothing helped me,except gingernut biscuits,i would eat 1st thing in morning before getting out of bed

Sucking on mints helped me

I have had HG 4 times now and the only thing that helps me is medication.
Im on ondansetron and pramin and im still nauseas all the time but I usually only throw up once in the morning and then just the nausea all day and night

Sliced lemons in a bag with you everywhere. Open bag and Sniff when feel a bit sick, eat a slice if really queasy

Suck on lemons. I lost 80lbs my first pregnancy and only 30lbs my second. None of the meds they prescribed worked lemons helped the most

I went through this and could keep nothing down except pedialite, not even water. Hard candies helped some. I just dealt with it until week 16 or 17 and it finally stopped. None of the remedies ppl recommended helped sadly. I hope something works for you💜

Preggie pops i think they were called from amazon but any sour candy

Ginger beer helped me

Peppermint oil is good for nausea.

I am a birth doula, a mom of 5 and I have been through 4 HG pregnancies. I have advice, that is somewhat controversial. If you would like to talk you are welcome to message me. My messenger was messing up, but I think I got it fixed.

Fruit tingles, I tried everything for the sickness and a friend told me to get some fruit tingles in disbelief I did and sucking on them worked for me

Everything came up, except McDonald’s McDouble… all day long every day for 7 months. I welcomed it though, 12 years infertility. Lost 50lbs

To be honest, nothing helped me. I had to ride it out. As miserable as it was. Had to go to the hospital several times for dehydration, etc but it did eventually get better.

I had HG during my last pregnancy. I was initially taking ondanestron, but couldn’t keep it down. I had to be hospitalized three times due to the severity of it. Ended up having to have a PICC line put in, have twice weekly infusions, and give myself meds through my PICC line. Not sure what classifies as HG, but in my case I couldn’t even have a sip of water without it coming back up.

I had HG with all 10 of my pregnancies. (11 babies). It was absolute hell.
Nothing helped. It never went away until the babies were born.
I’d be on IVs for months. Hospitalized multiple times every pregnancy. No medications helped. No foods helped. Nothing helped.
And nobody understands it unless they go through it too.
I’m sorry you’re suffering. Your little one will be worth it, but it’s sure miserable.

I lived on saltiness crackers.

With both of my girls, I was nauseous and puking from the time I had a positive test until I delivered. With my second, I ended up getting IV fluids a couple times, and was on Diclegis with both of them super early on (like around 7-8 weeks). For the Diclegis, I would take one pill in the morning, one in the afternoon, and two at night. And with my second pregnancy, I also had Zofran for breakthrough nausea. Small bland meals and carbonation were helpful. It was miserable, but the fact that there’s a definitive timeline helps. It’s not forever, though it seems like it in the moment.

My daughter was given Zofran to help with that

Have a ginger nut biscuit in bed before you start your day.

I took my prenatal at night. I ate small bland snacks more and bananas helped curb some nausea.

Vegemite toast!!! Only thing that ever settled mine xx

Unisom before bed was the only thing that helped me

I had horrible morning sickness from 7-17 weeks. Only thing that helped me was minty things and brushing my teeth no joke 20+ times a day.

Ginger beer. I’m telling you it works

For some people nothing helps. I lost 10% of my body weight with pregnancy no1 and 5% with pregnancy no2 - medicated.

I found fresh cold food the easiest - cereal, salads, Mediterranean foods.

If you’ve lost lots of weight they should be listening to you, you’re nearly in the second trimester now so talk to your doctor next week if you’re still suffering.

Try green olives , if you like them

I used unisom and b6 once that didn’t help I got a prescription for zofran

I would make a glass of carnation breakfast essentials and chug it to get what the baby needed and make it thru the sickness, it worked everytime

Vitamin b6 and unisom

I am sooooo sorry, I know how you feel. I knew I was pregnant with my first because I was nauseous before I even took a test. Landed myself in the hospital because of it and ended up losing too much weight and put on Zofran. With my second I had severe morning sickness but not AS bad but this time, they wouldn’t prescribe Zofran long term because it was since deemed not super safe for pregnancies or something of the sort. So I was only prescribed some for a bit after an ER visit. Last child, same thing. Bad morning sickness and I don’t believe I got any Zofran that time. Suggestions I have are Ginger Ale, trying to eat some crackers first thing in the morning (literally keep crackers next to your bed and eat some before even getting up), suck on mints, get some nausea bracelets for motion sickness. They push on pressure points on your wrists and that helped some. If your prenatals make you sick try taking them at night before bed (I couldn’t take mine in the morning at all, I automatically threw them up. Still threw them up a lot at night but not nearly as often). Some people swear by preggo pops, they’re a kind of lollipop. Idk if it helped me much though. Cold air, wet and cold cloth on your head, that helped me a lot just having some cold air in my face. Good luck! I hope you find something that helps! Most people will start transitioning out of the nausea phase soon, unless you’re like me and you spend most of your time with nausea

I had hg n even with a prescription for it it never helped it’s the worst thing ever I could only have water and very bland food but was still sick was hospitalised twice I hope u feel better soon x

I threw up so much my first pregnancy that i was 7lbs lighter after giving birth than before i got pregnant. Even water made me throw up. Flat pop helped, sipped very slowly through the morning. Gingerbread cookies, ginger helped with nausea. Peppermint candies helped me as well. I kept them by my bed. By four months it started to let up.

Try sipping ice cold mint tea or chewing a small piece of fresh ginger

Iv had severe hypermesesis gravidurum 2+ and ondansetron is the only medication that stops me from being so sick!

Pickled ginger, like the kind you get with Sushi…

Ask your doc for cariban I had this I was awful bad couldn’t function properly spent my days vomiting :mask: not a nice thing to go trough. Cariban litterly saved me the first few weeks its not on medical card tho and its expensive :see_no_evil: but 100% worth every penny. I needed it for about 8 weeks thankfully its settled now x

Tell your OB he can prescribe anti nausea meds

I’ve had it with all of my pregnancies.
I just lost 40kgs
88. pounds
From HG nothing helped me.
Suck on ice cubes it’s the only way I could keep any water in.

Try eating before you get out of bed, just a couple of biscuits or a slice of toast . Midwife recommended that to me and it worked really well

The worst thing I ever had had the only thing that took the nausea away was ginger nut biscuits and strawberry milkshakes I lived on them my entire pregnancy lost so much weight talk go your doctors ask about the anti sick tablet there blue can’t remember the name but they were amazing also

Vernors pop, leave sitting out don’t put in fridge. Don’t know where you live but it’s a BIG thing here in my state Michigan. We drink it when we get sick or have an upset tummy. I despise pop but i always keep a 2 liter handy just in case. My Mom use to warm it up for us when sick. Hope you find some relief soon!

I tried everything. The only thing that helped was iv fluids 3 times a weeks. I was almost put on a home iv.

Not gonna lie, when I was pregnant with my son 14 years ago I also had seriously extreme "morning sickness ", the only thing that helped me keep food down was by smoking a little bit of weed.
He still came out healthy as an ox and weighing 10 pounds.
Now he’s an extremely healthy 14 year old boy who is extremely smart, funny, hardworking, amazing wise young man

I had watermelon and ginger ale. It helped so much. But I was always dizzy. That’s why I could only keep down those things

I had the morning sickness all day but didn’t throw up all the time just extreme nausea. I did have zofran but it barely helped. I lived off special K and pineapple. I bought sour candies because they did help a tiny bit and I would keep ginger crisp by the bed and eat 1-2 while I was still laying flat down. I would also drink a little coke because it would help some.

You might sip on the juice out of a can of peaches. I know it helps with just regular nausea. I didn’t know about that was I was pregnant 10 years ago.

Some of you don’t know what HG is. Its not a little nausea you ebb off with ginger or soda pop.

Peppermint hard candy, I sucked them all day long.

Only thing I could stomach for 9 months was cruskits and water. The smell of meat or even the thought of it made me sick.

My SIL had these bands that she wore around her wrist, they had a little ball on them that pressed on a certain spot on the wrist. I think they even sell something like that on the internet under motion sickness.

I was pregnant in the 70’s and could not keep one thing down from 5 weeks until delivery day. I ate popsicles because they tasted the same coming up. If I had nothing in stomach I puked awful bile so it was better to eat something than to puke bile.
I would think since the 70’s there got to be something. I hear ginger helps. I lost 40 lbs with first pregnancy with a healthy single birth and lost 63 lbs when I delivered healthy twins. It took a toll on me. My teeth, hair, skin were in horrible shape but the dr said babies will take from the mom, what they need. Surely this is 2022 there’s got to be something. I would research what you can eat naturally to keep food down and be sure it doesn’t hurt pregnancy. God be with you!

I threw up anywhere from once to 7 times a day for the first 16 weeks. I’m almost 18 weeks now and it’s definitely eased up, but I’m still nauseous most of the day and night. It’s terrible. I had Covid the first week of feb and have lost… 17 lbs since then, haven’t gained any back yet. I have random meltdowns because I just don’t want to be miserable anymore. It’s drastically decreased my quality of life and ability to keep up with my kids and household. This is my 5th and it’s never been this bad. I literally don’t feel like doing anything, ever. At all. Even if they do diagnose you with HG, unless you end up losing weight drastically and are severely dehydrated more than not, I don’t know that they’ll do a whole lot even then :disappointed:

Crackers and some ginger ale always helped me

I’m not sure if its HG because you can keep some foods and fluids down. But it sounds like you definitely needs nausea meds. Zofran can help with nausea. I had HG both pregnancies and puked at least 12 times a day. No matter what I ate or drank. Zofran does not really do anything for me. But im thinking it might help you! Your doctor not giving you anything is pretty shitty. Being nauseated is such a lonely and horrible feeling. It messes with your mental state. And its also debilitating. I’m so sorry you are going through this. Ice water kinda seems to stay inside my body a bit longer then regular water. But it’s so subjective to the person. In my HG group a bunch of woman said coke slushys stayed down a lot of the time. My biggest advice is to eat or drink whatever sounds good and you think will stay down. If its mcds fries…then get them. If it’s sushi…eat it. At this point you need anything that will stay down.

Your doctor should absolutely be helping you wtf…I would demand help. Mine gave me medication to take daily, I lost 20lbs due to being so sick.

If you can handle ginger, Amazon sells a hard ginger candy and helped me alot.

Literally going through it right now girl. It sucks. It’s miserable. I literally regret doing this, hahaha like, ugh I’m with you. Just keep pukin’. That’s all you can do.

I was so sick 24/7 I froze Hawaiian punch in my ice cube trays it was amazing for me good luck!!

Ginger ale and the red and white circle peppermints always helped me

I had to wait it out with both of my pregnancies.
Mine were so bad that when everyone got the stomach flu I didn’t feel any different, could just tell because I was puking much more for that period of time.
Lemon candies and oranges helped sometimes but yeah…. Basically had to survive through it until 22 weeks or so.

The absolute only thing I can suggest is weed. I tried everything I could, everything named in the comments and nothing helped me either time. But as soon as I smoked I was instantly able to eat again and feel perfectly fine. Obviously it isn’t for everybody but if it happens to be an option for you I would most definitely do it

Lemon & salt (in moderation), popsicles. I threw up everything I ate, drank & smelt.

Ginger chewing gum. Anything to do with ginger helped me.

Same here. The acupuncture bands help slightly but kinda hurt. The thing is to try what sounds OK. Pumpkin seeds help me and sometimes cranberry. But I get sick of them too.

Literally nothing helped me carbonated beverages helped but other than that eat whatever you’re able to don’t force yourself to eat other stuff

Honest I sound like I’m bat shit crazy but it’s the ONLY thing that worked for me… sniff your rubbing alcohol! It’s the only way I kept food down! A nurse at a dentist office taught me this trick!

Edit to add, I still puked every single day but it helped so much it went from like 5-6 times a day to 1-2!!

Mom of five here. With my first three pregnancies I puked everyday all day for the entire 9 months even with medicine. Sour things helped me a lot and small meals like crackers and such. But what really helped me was marijuana. I know not everyone agrees and by no means would I pressure you too. Esp depending on the state you live in. Maybe try CBD oil I hear that helps many with nausea.

17 weeks & still have nausea with food aversions & have lost weight but my OB is not worried,

I had hyperemesis and nothing helped me. I ended up with IV nutrition and a pic line. I was so sick I dropped from 105 to 69 pounds when I gave birth. I barely survived the pregnancy. On top of a hematoma between placenta and uterus. Spent the whole time on bed rest. Gave birth at 7 months. They gave me my medical card while I was pregnant and that helped a little. Probably the only reason I survived it. It was truly miserable. Zofran may help. Vitamin b shots. Steroid shot k owned it out for about a week then came back full force plus worse. Will never have another kid after all that.

Seriously? I was given 3 prescriptions right off the bat at 7 weeks. Zofran. Ask your primary doctor for it. If not. Go to the hospital and get IV fluids and zofran. I did that Monday after the same thing and have taken zofran twice a day since and it’s the first week I haven’t puked since 6 weeks. (I’m 10 weeks). It can be dangerous not eating. I’ve lost 27lbs since the beginning of February. This is the first week I could eat more than 500 calories a day.
