How to treat eczema?

Need help! My daughter will be 4 months old next week and has very very severe eczema. It’s all over her stomach, sides, and legs. I’ve tried everything her doctor said. I’ve changed soaps, lotions, got eczema cream, stopped using wash cloths when bathing her, and switched laundry detergent and nothing will work😭 it doesn’t seem to bother her much but I know it will when she starts to get older and really notices it. Please any suggestions would be so so greatly appreciated!

I’d look into allergy testing with an allergist to see if there is something else triggering the flare ups and they can put her on maybe a daily medication or prescription steroid lotion to help control it, good luck mama :hugs:

Could she be lactose intolerant

Have you tried moogoo cream? I suffer from eczema myself and suffer from flare ups that cover my face and it’s honestly helped me so much more then the prescribed creams from the chemist

Put oatmeal in a clean white sock. Tie the sock up. Bathe the baby in clear cool water using the oatmeal instead of soap

Get bag balm. I used all the stuff my daughter’s doctors gave her and none of it worked. My dad was reading a home remedies book and came across a page that said to use bag balm for eczema. It cleared the eczema up on my daughter and it never came back.

I would try and change her formula. I had the same
Issue with my son. I changed his formula and I did oatmeal baths and it cleared up in no time!

Rodan and Fields Soothe :raised_hands:t2:

African black soap and unrefined shea butter

Aquaphor helps some with my psoriasis, I’d say give that a try

My friend uses steroid creams on hers and it seems to keep it somewhat under control

Hydrocortisone worked amazing for my 11 month old.

Have you tried coconut oil at all? It’s magical shit

My doctor had me switch to dove bar soap for one of my kids and that worked

Dogs flare up my son’s eczema. I bath him every day with cetaphil soap. Pat him dry use cetaphil lotion and triamcinolone cream on the bad spots. That has seemed to help us.

Could be a dairy issue, my kids had alot of problem we had to switch to nutramigen which is dairy/soy free

I have heard of a cream by lush people use called Dream Cream a friend of mine uses when she has flare ups

Try Cetaphil products… I’m from Trinidad and my daughter when she was born she had it real real bad… Add a sprinkle of baking soda to the water and when her skin is wet use the Cetaphil body oil

Also used aquaphor works amazing

My daughter gets it bad on her face and stomach. This may sound crazy but I only use soap on her once a week. I put her in the shower most the time I don’t let her sit in a bath everyday and I use CeraVe cream on her twice a day and it clears right up.

She might be a little young so check with your doctor but have you tried mixing hydrocortisone in with a sensitive baby lotion? It’s what our doctor suggested for my daughters eczema but she was 9 months. It was once a day while sleeping unless we felt it wasn’t doing enough then twice a day while sleeping and it seems to be helping!

Get steroid cream for eczema from your pediatrician!! Aveeno oatmeal baths and baby aquaphor work miracles too!

My sister used this stuff and it worked like a charm!!

I keep seeing people talk about tubby todds all over ointment. You could check out those reviews!

She needs to see a pediatric dermatologist. If she doesn’t have open sores ask the Dr if a “bleach bath” would help. You basically put a tiny bit of bleach in a half full tub, it’s diluted more than a chlorine pool. If what is causing it is on the surface of the skin the bleach will help control it. Worked for my kid when she was an infant BUT it was done under the advice of a dermatologist, complete with a recipe card for the bleach:water ratio

I know it sucks but try to hold off on baths The water flares it up And when you do pat to dry her not rub and no soap at all. I herd oatmeal is good. Also i recently been using pollysporn eczema cream and i never had anything better before! My daughter is now 4 but she would cry all winter her whole body was so raw and dry. I felt so bad within a few days its crazy how much a difference. Its about 20$ . i would for sure see if she has allergies though!

Have you tried Aveeno Night Time Balm for Eczema??
Also, do not use dryer sheets either. Use free and clear (100% unsented) laundry soap and softener.
Lotion 2x daily (we use baby dove sensitive moisture)
Only bathe 3x a week with a unsented soap.

My daughter has had it since she was born what works best for her is to put some aloe in the lotion

My parents used Bag Balm for mine when I was a baby. I still use it and it helps really well

I use baby Aveeno eczema cream And bath treatment on my son and he is 5 months. If used lightly my son’s doctor suggested heads and shoulders for the head if your LO is affected there.

My last three kids all had it the youngest who is 1 still does the other two do not so she may outgrow it so to speak

My doc gave me a hydrocortisone cream. It’s been working. The first time it popped up they gave me a steroid cream that cleared it up quickly also.

Both my kids have eczema. Humidifier and aquaphor usually clear it up, but we also have a prescription steroid cream for the stubborn flare ups.
No perfume soaps or lotions. Eczema is worse during the winter for my kids anyway

Eczema can be an allergy issue. It’s it’s really bad just put her in the bathtub and wash her off with water and pat her dry when she’s done. I have eczema and I’ve been through it all. Everyone’s skin is different so pick and choose what you want to try and see if it works. Good luck!

Oatmeal baths work some for my daughter she has it bad to were she is itching it and the doctor said if all else fells he wants us to see a dermatologist

We started using oatmeal bombs. Which is where you put oatmeal into panty hose and tie it off making little bombs soak them in the oatmeal water and use the little thing to rub over their skin. Worked wonders for us and he has it pretty abd

I’ve had the same thing happen. My mom suggested coconut oil and so far, my baby has been clear. I’ve been using it for about 5 months now. I listened to my mom because she has 9 kids lol I figured she is the expert since doctors weren’t working

For us, our daughters eczema was linked to her milk allergy!

Maybe have her tested for allergies. Sometimes eczema is mis diagnosed with an allergy problem.

To much lotion and soap makes mine way worse. If I have flare ups I have to balance the right amount of hypoallergenic cream and nothing, no perfume, body soap etc. Even getting hot and sweaty flares it up.

I’ve heard dairy can cause eczema. If nothing else is working it might be worth considering either cutting it out of your diet if you are breastfeeding, or trying a soy based formula.

Boob juice, i.e. breastmilk.

Yes, sometimes that could be caused by food allergies.

Plus oatmeal baths. That might help. I know that helped my sister’s baby

We use aquarphor lotion the tube, eucerin shampoo/bath wash and then purex free baby laundry detergent. It took a few weeks for it to fully go away. But it’s definitely helped with us. Our dr also prescribed a hydrocortisone cream to apply for 10 days and then wait a week and the reapply for 10 days if it comes back.

Breast milk can do wonders

Renew lotion from melalueca.com
It’s amazing. It worked for a friend of mine whose son has eczema.

Make sure to use different soaps for her bedding too but I think trial and error with different lotions would help. The heavy cream is good for me

Vaseline and wet gauze wraps

Aveeno baby excema lotion

CeraVe is AMAZING lotion/cream! It helps soothe the skin like none other

Have you had her tested for an allergy??

I use eucerin for severe eczema all over, hydrocortisone on the really bad flare ups, and keep my baths Luke warmish when I have flare ups. That combo seems to help.

Have doctor refer you to an allergist

Bleach bath. Look up for exact directions. Helped a lot with my daughters. This was recommended by her dermatologist.

My cousin used her rest milk dabs it with a cotton ball

Oatmeal bombs, Eucerin baby eczema cream & hydrocortisone 1% cream (for the itch). My son was born with it also & now it’s gone! I also used Cetaphil of & on or every other night to help with the dryness. But use the Eucerin & hydro cream, mixed together, twice a day. Good luck momma!

If you’re breastfeeding her you need to try cutting out dairy. Also do breastmilk baths. Aquaphor baby works best for my son at keeping his eczema clear.

We got told to use goat milk soap in the bars worked for a bit now were on the goat milk shower gel it’s almost gone

I used coconut oil on my sons and it went away

Eucrisa you need prescription from your doctors but it steroid free and can be used on infants as young as 4months! It’s very pricy though but works wonders

Vitamin d, primarily sunlight if possible. Vitamin d is a hormone and a naturally occurring steroid. Iodine has also helped mine at times, just mix a few drops of lugols with some coconut oil and rub it into the skin

Purchase Robathol bath oil from amazon & Vanicream lotion. The dermatologist recommended this for my son who got severe eczema at 4 months. This photo is 3 months apart. We also use a small amount of hydrocortisone cream mixed with vanicream (50/50 mixture).

Olive oil closest oil to natural oil that your body produces

Equate creamy baby lotion works wonders!

Aveeno has a diaper rash cream that has no dyes or chemicals or sensing it is a diaper rash cream put a little bit of that it’s crazy but it does rub into the skin is amazing for eczema I use it as lotion

I have it and the only thing that has ever helped was Aveeno baby eczema cream.

You may want I see if they will give you a prescription cream. For my son they told us to switch to Hypoallergenic Body Wash, Laundry Detergent. Then after his baths lather him up thick in Aveeno’s Eczema Therapy then on top of that put Aquafor or Vaseline and long sleeved Pj’s to keep the area covered and if it’s really bad use zipper jammies and so far this is helping. The Ped told us that winter is the worst time for Eczema and it tends to get better in spring. It can also be a sign of an egg or diary allergy! My son has a Dairy Protein Sensitivity.

We tried everything, then my son’s went down by about 90% when we put a filter on the water in our home. City water made his skin feel like sandpaper, apparently.

So my family is country so this may sound disgusting but my aunt used to rub my little cousin down in lard. It would moisturize his skin and helped with the itching and the patches

Theraplex!!! You can find it on Amazon. It’s a waxy barrier cream that allows the skin to heal. My son had a awful time with eczema too and this worked for him. Bathe every 2-3 days so you don’t over wash her and irritate her skin. Wash her folds and face hands diaper area with Aveeno baby wash as needed. And use a thin layer of this Theraplex daily! I hope it works for her like it did my son, it was the only thing that worked! Dermatologist told us to try it and it was a success!

This might sound weird but I mixed my breast milk with my sons bath and it helped him. I also rubbed vaseline to trap moisture in his eczema spots

My son had this so bad his skin would peel off. We had to cut full baths to 2x per week and less than 5min soaking in water. The water made it much worse. He couldnt swim or bathe. We blew dry him with fans and lathered him in prescription lotion. Finally it got better and now he is 12 and has out grown it completely.

Try getting really good filters for your whole house water. (Before the shower, etc)

Crisco. The white shortening not the liquid… works on my son

I was told to use vaseline and her dr told me not to use anything with perfume or smell good stuff I dont let any one hold her that has a perfume on

My daughter also has it. Her doctor told me to bathe her daily for at least 20 minutes and wash her last with dove sensitive soap and as soon as she’s done lather her in cerave lotion before you dry her so it locks the moisture in her skin. It has worked well.

A lot of people in family suffer from eczema! Aquaphor works for us. My daughter is 22 months old and gets patches of it on her and i use the baby aquaphor on her. Usually clears up within a couple of days.

Dream cream from Lush works miracles on eczema

African black soap (you can buy it at Target, Dollar General, etc)

I would go to a dermatologist my baby girl 6 years old still deals with it uv rays sun shines is great for it for sure we tried everything nothing worked but uv rays

Allergies test, and cetaphil CREAM not lotion. Ask about baby Claritin non drowsy without the decongestant. It’ll help with the itching and the cream will help with the dry skin. Cut out dairy it helps with my inflammation you can switch to soy. Hydrocortisone creams help for short term but after awhile they thin out the skin and make it worse. Eczema can’t be cured only managed.

Works great for skin issues.

Bathe only 2 to 3 times a week and eucerin eczema lotion 3 times a day and coconut oil 3 times a day as well as only using a sensitive skin dove soap even to wash their hands and face after and before meal and after pottying.

I would try renew cream from Melaleuca I can help you order, it works really well for eczema

Look up lifevantage.com and check out the testimonials on their cream

Both of my younger sisters had it as babies and got worse as they got older. Oatmeal baths, and keeping their skin hydrated and lotioned down helped. They usually broke out the worst in summer because they sweat and when they got really anxious or upset. They both have grew out of it.

We got a prescription cream from the doctor for our son. It’s amazing!

Sometimes something in diet can trigger it but I used organic oatmeal in a stocking for bathing my daughter only oatmeal moisturizers after baths n a preservative free diet n nothing with perfume’s n when the itching got really bad a childs anti histamine she out grew it by 11

I give my granddaughter oatmeal baths and baby Aveeno Eczema moisturizer cream

I used dove soap, and mom harsh chemical laundry soap. I get it and it’s hard to get rid of…

Only thing that helped my daughter was fourty cure cream from limelife. I tryed everything previously also. Even prescription

It flares up alot when they skin is dry and the weather becomes warm. Keep her fully moistened at all tines. The baby Aveeno works good

My son suffers from it since that age. It’s been 10 months. In addition to what you said I also have to limit bath time to 5 minutes and lukewarm water, air dry, after eczema cream cover him in aquaphor. It’s messy but worth it. I also have him on 2.5oz of Zyrtec per doc which helps. Loose clothing and can’t let him get too hot or cold.

my son is 4, but he was prescribed eucrisa. 2 tubes later and it’s still just as bad. he wakes himself up almost every night scratching we just started oatmeal baths as well!

Epsom salt bath
I just used epsom salt
It says it’s ok 2 times a week and to pat dry don’t use soap or anything
