I don’t know if my doctor drug tested me for my 1st appointment or not? I think they just tested my urine to see if I was pregnant or not. And if they do drug test you, I’m sure they’ll give you some options for you to get treatment. 
In Jersey you can refuse the drug test and they cant do anything. They don’t check every appointment either they may after babies born depending on what hospital your at. The reason they don’t check at every appointment is because if you give a dirty urine at the first time they automatically call social services on you.
Not every state but if they do just be honest with them

I told my doctor I smoked and that I was trying to stop and she told me she would drug test me cuz if she did and it was positive they would call cps

So much judgement in the comments when none of you know the circumstances of this person. Yes we all know drugs are bad. No this person did not say she was still using drugs or going to continue using them. All she said was that she just found out she was pregnant and therefore would not have known when using said drugs. She was more than likely asking out of fear of getting in trouble or having her child taken later. All the negative comments were so not necessary. If you have a question then ask. No need to be rude either. This was obviously not planned or it wouldn’t be an issue. This is like the old saying that it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt! As long as you pass the test when the baby is born and so does the baby then you have nothing to worry about

Not in Maryland unless it’s documented on addiction and if the mother presents signs of being on drugs other wise they don’t test the baby after birth either again unless there is documentation or signs of the mother being addicted

Sometimes. The dr I had did and I passed every time. 
I’d stop about 2 days before my apt (I smoke weed) & I had my last two with weed in my system they didn’t do anything. 
I work in a lab at a drs office. Mostly they’ll do basic blood work and a urinalysis to make sure everything is ok. Just ask you lab tech which tests are being ran if you’re that worried about it. They don’t normally run a drug screen unless there’s reasonable suspicion. The tech will have your orders and they won’t run anything that hasn’t been ordered. Also, unrelated but drink a lot of water before getting your blood work done, it helps a whole lot.

It mostly depends on the state and if the mother has a history with drug use…most states look past weed cause it’s legal. The doc will also help you get off the drugs without hurting the baby.

While I’m totally against women who do drugs while pregnant. We don’t know if she’s just worried because she say smoked pot. Before she found out she was pregnant . And is worried she’ll have to deal with backlash from something she stopped doing. The moment she found out she had a bundle of joy on the way.

In Canada, they do blood work at 16 and 28 weeks. They are checking for genetic disorders and stuff like that. Never heard of them doing drug tests here unless there is a reason for it

Yep! My poppy seed bagel came back positive for opiates scared the shit outta me. They sent it into the lab and they confirmed a false positive 
Sometimes yes and if you’re struggling with any type of addiction there is help available. Most of these people that comment on here have no idea what it’s like to struggle with addiction therefore have no room to speak on it. But if that person is struggling feel free to reach out to me I have no issues offering a solution that works. If not you’re in my thoughts and prayers!
Wtf.? You’re pregnant. Say no to all drugs for 9 months. Better safe than sorry. Even mental drugs. Everything but Tylenol and say no to that most of the time.

In California, Washington and Idaho I know they do. In Missouri they ask your permission. Idk about any other states

In TN they drug screen… if something is there that shouldn’t be they can and will report it. But believe they give it a chance to get out of your system. Like if you smoke weed they can tell if you are still smoking or not and if you stop they don’t push it… other drugs in not sure of

Best thing to do is NOT use and stay clean for the baby (weather this is directed to the person asking the question or they asked for someone else)

My suggestion is even if its weed they will know. They will test and if you test positive when you give birth the child will be taken at the hospital. Get help now and save yourself the trouble of what may happen. They are understanding but dont lie! Tell them you juat found out and you are getting clean as for help getting clean they will give you resources wven if its only pot seek help so that you can keep your kiddo if you want

If you are on any type of drug, marijuana included the absolute best thing to do is own up to it and be honest and open with your ob about your usage especially if you have a hard time getting sober. They aren’t there to judge you. They are there to help you and your baby.
If you were using and quit as soon as you found out you are pregnant, let them know that as well.

You guys really need to stop fucking judging she could’ve just been smoking weed and ended up getting pregnant and not finding out till the last minute I had marijuana in my system till I found out I was pregnant. In tennessee if you test positive for weed they dont do anything yes cps will be there when the baby is born but they dont take your child as long as the home is a good home , you can support for the baby and thats the only thing in your system is weed. If its,more than weed then chances are they will take the baby . specially if you used the whole pregnancy . but like i said if its just weed cps wont do anything just make sure the home is fit for the baby , ask you not to smoke around the baby and all that . then they will give you a case worker threw healthy families that helps you with whatever you need help with , sets goals with you to do and basically just there for you . its a great program . and THEY DO NOT JUDGE YOU!

I didn’t realize I was pregnant when I was smoking weed and drinking but as soon as I found out I stopped. That doesn’t make you a bad mother. She could’ve had a list of reasons why she ended up pregnant. Y’all gotta lighten up a bit and stop being so damn rude.
Drug and alcohol rehab nurse here… if you are using and your pregnant please look into getting help while pregnant. There is different medications they can put you on to help curve cravings and help with withdrawal while you are pregnant. It’s best to be comp honest with your obgyn for the health of your baby and your self.

Not where I am. And to all those that think that peeing in a cup each time means they are drug testing you - you had better double check your Info. They check for other things each appointment such as sugar or protein in your urine. Never once in any of my pregnancies did I get drug tested and I checked each and every lab done and Bill sent.
Maybe she smoked before she found out and is just worried about the first appointment.
No but you must be honest with everything you take or have taken since getting pregnant. They have to know so they can prepare for any complications (there is not enough evidence-yet- of whether marijuana affects a fetus or not)

I’ve heard they do but I guess it depends on what state you’re in. I’ve had 2 babies in Illinois and 1 in Wisconsin and was never drug tested.
They drug test at every appointment and report to cps if the state requires it
