I Spend $1200 a Month on Groceries for Two Kids: Is That Too Much?

About $800-$1000 family of 4

Around $1000 including the diapers and dog food and what notā€¦ 3 kids , 3 adults and 2 dogs.

Itā€™s me and my son and I spend less than $300 a month.

What do you buy that leads up to 1,200?
There are a ton of meals you can make, that isnā€™t all the same thing - but still stay around 500-600 limit monthly. :slightly_smiling_face:

I usually spend around that much if not less for a family of 3 + pet. And i only go shopping once a month - unless i need little things for a certain recipe.
But usually - If Iā€™m out i gotta get creative with whatever i got until that month is over lol.

Wow!! We r a family of 7! & we donā€™t spend that on groceries a month!! & we r 2 adults, a 19, 16, 12 & 11 yr old boys & a 3 yr old girl!! All they do is eat!! We spend about $600- $800 a month, & that includes diapers & wipes for a Little missy whos not ready to use the potty yet (grrrr), cleaners, TP, paper towels, etc.

We spend about $500-600 a month for our family of 5 for groceries. Thatā€™s 3 meals a day each plus snacks and extras. Best thing I ever did was meal plan. I usually shop every 2 weeks and make up a menu for each week. I donā€™t make it night specific so there is always flexibility and am also always changing it up so we arenā€™t constantly eating the same stuff over and over.

Family of 8 about 1000.
2 adults, 2 grandparents, 15, 7, 6 & 3 yr olds.
We buy meet in bulk & cut it down (steak, roast, burgers, etc) package it fit our family. I buy some name brands however I check who makes the store brand 85% of the time itā€™s name brand so we buy it instead. We stock up if a good sale is on. I tend to shop at winco, walmart not so much Safeway or fred Meyers. Unless it a good sale or a quick in & out trip. The produce is always fresh, I cant get meet in bulk packages never opened at the store & milk for $3 less a gallon.

I remember on a TV program one family of three was spending $6000 a month!!! So we all are doing real good :clap::clap:

Two kids two adults. 200 a week. 800 a month and we eat really well, all fresh fruit and veggies. Nothing processed or frozen. I find the best way to Shop is to only buy on sale. I donā€™t make a list anymore with the prices being so high. If chickens on sale we get chicken, if itā€™s not I grab whatever is on sale :slightly_smiling_face: Doing it this way started saving me about 300 a month.

Between $600-$700/month for a family of four and two dogs. I meal plan around whatā€™s on sale! We do meat orders locally and try to stretch that as far as we can. When chickens on sale I stock up and slow cook it so we have cooked chicken for the week to add to salads, sandwiches, etc. We shop at local markets for fruits and veggies and try to stick to whatā€™s in season as thatā€™s cheaper. Buy lots and freeze for later (use for smoothies, etc.). Buy not brand name as much as we can and in bulk where it makes sense! We also have friends who hunt and we hunt so getting meat that way cuts down a lot!

Thatā€™s alot. Family of 5. 3 kids 2 adults we spend about 600 - 700 a month.

500-600 a month that includes household needs diapers and formula though. 2 adults 4 kids.

Two adults, one kid, about 650.00 a month. That includes non food goods, and then Iā€™ll probably spend another 75 on fresh fruits, milk, etc throughout the month. I shop heavier in the winter since I live in a small town and we have snow storms. Grocery store is about 45 minutes away for large shopping.

All depends what state you live in. I typically spend $200-300/week.

1,200 holy, does that include like fast food and delivery?

Probably around $1000 for a family of 5 in northern Ontario

Around 1000-1100 a month for a family of 6 in Winnipeg

I spend around Ā£500 a month. That includes everything. Even toiletries and top up of bread and milk etcā€¦ I dont know what that is in $ though. Oh we are a family of 4. 2 adults 2 kids under 10

3 adults and 2 kids. I spend around 600$ a month

Around Ā£500 a month 2 adults 2 children 2 cats and a dog

about 400 a month 2 kids 2 adults

200 bi weekly or around 600 to 800 every month for a family of 4 and sometimes I feed my in laws as well so a total of 7 people

Family of 5 in the home I spend at least 300 a week. I am floored that some people spend less than that and make full meals every night. I would love to hear how you do it because I feel like groceries are almost expensive as our home and that is insane

4 adults costs me roughly 1200 a month.

2 adults 1 child. Monday - Friday. And then 2 adults 3 kids Friday-Sunday.

We still probably spend about 200 per week. So I guess 800 per month. In Newfoundland. We usually spend 150 on Fridays for most stuff. And then a few extra bits later through the week.

About 800 for 2 adults, 2kids , 1 cat

I have 2 kids and my fiance and we spend like 350 a month. Not counting diapers and such.

1200 a month here 4 adults

Around $600 every month, 2 adults 2 toddlers

You are totally spending too much. I feed my family of 6 on about 600-800 a month. I buy bulk at sams club and limit snacks. Idk how you spend so much. It just seems completely unreasonable. Consider meal planning. That amount i spend includes diapers and toiletries.

Family of 4 plus animals we spend about 300 a week on big bulk then have little trips throughout the week and spend around $100 or so. Donā€™t really have a budget. We buy whatever we need and want.

Around $250 for just me and my daughter. Sometimes less if I use grocery pickup :joy:

You need to start going to aldis lol I spend like half that and always have so much food

Family of 3, but count as 4 since I make extra for hubby to take to work the next day. We spend around $70/100 a week depending on what exactly we need and only eat out 1 day out of the week. I cook for my son 3x a day with snacks in between so we eat goodšŸ˜… Budgeting and planning out your week ahead help a lot, given the fact that we also do buy things to snack on. There might be one week where I spend a bit more but thats if I buy in bulk which if I do in that case I would waste less the following weeks.

I buy and work on making meals on what is on sale in the grocery market ads each week. We like fresh veggies so I visit Trader Joeā€™s twice a week.

Theyā€™re all home right now because school is super deadly :joy::roll_eyes:

We adults eat out 2x a week when weā€™re out for darts, and my oldest son buys a majoity of his own food.

On average $400 for a family of 4, sometimes less.

We spent $600 month for 2 adults, 2 kids, 3 dogs

Omg thats alot thereā€™s 3 of us but we buy in bulk one a month like about $150-$300 then $100 a week. We dont eat out that much at all and I alway take leftovers for lunch to work then my bf sandwiches/wraps for lunch.

3 people in my house we spend about 150$ on groceries a week

I spend roughly 1000-1200 a month for my family of 5 depending on how much planning and budgeting I do before hand.

I must do a terrible job because we spend about $500 a month on 2 of us and 2 pets and ā€œnever have anything to eatā€. Lol

There are only two if us and I am spending more since this pandemic. Partly because prices have gone up and partly because things like paper products are now only sold in larger packages that I would normally buy for two people

If you count feeding everyone including my animals. I have a dog, a cat, a 5 month old, myself and my husband. And I try to spend about 200-250 a trip. Twice a month. I imagine that will double in the next year.
Meal plan and stick to it. Helps budget

350-400 a month. 5 people. Including 3 teenagers, 2 are boys.

3 in our home I allot an average of 200.00 per month for our groceries!..

Around $300 just my hubby and me but we have 7 grandkids that act like theyā€™ve never been fed :joy::joy: and grandma always happy to feed my babies

Omg Iā€™m at the store once a week spending at least 150 and still a few times a month spending 400 each time for a bigger load. Iā€™m scared to see how much I spend in food. But a miner husband(lots of snacks), preteen boy(eats everything healthyšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø$$$), step kid boy(eats junk) 2 babies (diapers and formula) I donā€™t even get what I wantšŸ˜’ my carts or baskets are already full.

Family of 6, 2 adults 4 kids (one is ebf though). We spend easily 1000 or more cause we will do take out too. We eat alot if seafoods and red meats so we donā€™t try to have a lower budget these days.

500 for 2 adults 5 kids

I donā€™t really pay attention but itā€™s at least 700 a month. About 200 of that is formula and then thereā€™s snacks for my toddler and meat for my husbands dinners. I have a lot of canned food Iā€™ve stocked up on and a lot of frozen food in a deep freezer. My toddler eats the most out of my family!

I have a family of 6 kids 2 adults and I spend $800 to $1000 a. month on a fortnightly shop.also on a off week id do a top up shop of $70/$120 depending on whatā€™s needed or been used

I spend $500 monthly about $125 weekly for two adults and two kids

$600-700 a month for a family of 5ā€¦2 adults, 2 teens and a toddler

Jesusā€¦ Family of 4, about 650/700 a monthā€¦ (Canadian)

Yes, it is true. I was a client of Dr.NOSA and I must tell
everyone that he is a real spell caster. When my boyfriend left me it
was turmoil for 2 years. I met Dr.NOSA through a testimony also
and he told me that no matter what the problem is, he is ready to help
anyone who comes to him. Just in 2 days, my ex called me and wanted to
meet. I agreed and made preparations to meet him. He told me how he
feels guilty for what he did and he wanted me back. My boyfriend has
come back to me. I am happy with Dr.NOSA for his marvelous work
and I will recommend him to anyone who needs a spell caster. Contact
